On August 3rd, Latin NCAP published two new test results. The presentation was done online on Latin NCAP’s website and also at the FIA American Congress in Asunción, Paraguay. The BYD F0’s most basic safety equipped version disappointed by scoring zero stars for adult safety and only one star for child occupant protection. The Fiat New Palio scored only one star for adult occupant and three stars for child occupant protection. The poor adult result was due to the chest impact recorded by the dummy, however there was a good performance of the structure during the side impact test. The model obtained maximum protection for child occupants in the side impact test.

This was another disappointment from General Motors, especially in a model that has the potential to offer high protection levels, as it did when its basic version equipped with 6 airbags was tested by Euro NCAP in 2009 and scored four stars. In regards child occupancy, Latin NCAP was surprised that the Child Restraint System was installed forward facing by General Motors’ for the 18-month child fitment, the global tendency is to keep child passengers rearward facing as much as possible.

Videos were posted in Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Investment was done to maximise reach in Facebook in: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Mexico during the last four months of 2016 and will last until February 2017. Users were directed to a special landing page which included all the cars tested by Latin NCAP, in a more dynamic and easy to navigate design. If they couldn´t find the model they are searching for, they had the chance to “request” that model to be tested to the brand on Twitter with a predesigned Tweet was created mentioning the official Twitter account of the brand. During the first four months the campaign has been a success, the posted videos received 7.436.126 impressions and 1.072.668 views. The campaign aimed, on one hand, to inform and raise awareness to citizens about the importance of having vehicle safety as a priority when buying a new vehicle and, on the other hand, make a call to action for citizens to demand Governments and manufacturers that sells cars that endanger their lives. For this campaign social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and also Google AdWords were used and a new minisite was developed: http://www.latinncap.com/exijoautoseguro The campaign showed a good “conversation” level in Twitter with almost 900 tweets and 500 users using the hashtag of the campaign. Four of the five most RTs tweets of Latin NCAP’s history correspond to tweets from the campaign. The AdWords campaign had 744.403 impressions and 6.137 clicks to the campaign minisite. The minisite was seen by more than 10,000 unique users.
