Despite these strange and difficult times the industry seems to have been fortunate in most cases to have survived and even thrived. This has not been the case for all of us and we should take a moment to think of those that have not had such a great time. We ourselves returned from lockdown on the 19th of July and have thrown ourselves wholeheartedly into bringing the LANDSCAPE Show together in a very short space of time. With Government restrictions and advice in place, the event this year is being staged in Hall 12 of the NEC in Birmingham and remains the only trade show for the industry supported by every major trade association and media titles from across the world. The world is very different and there are many changes in place, but we sincerely hope you embrace this opportunity to reunite with colleagues and friends and enjoy some time spent looking at new products and innovations as well as listening to some of our amazing speakers. This years’ show features exhibitors displaying everything from lighting to furniture, from stone to irrigation and artificial grass to green walls, there is something for every designer, architect and contractor. LANDSCAPE is hosting its PechaKucha 20x20 programme for a fourth successive year! What does PechaKucha mean? It derives from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat” and provides a lively and informal format to enlighten and inspire. Each landscape professional will show 20 images for 20 seconds, hence the 20x20! This year we are running the PechaKucha in conjunction with Perennial. Be prepared to be inspired and amazed. Join us for a drink on Wednesday 3rd November at the Central Bar Area from 17:15.
Wellness Community Garden Competition
For 2021, LANDSCAPE has collaborated with MIND Birmingham and the London College of Garden Design to introduce a new Wellness Community Garden Competition at the show. Entrants each produced designs that demonstrate the ability of gardens to promote well-being and recovery, especially supporting and challenging the stigma of mental distress. Over the past 18 months in particular we have heard how outdoor space and physical exercise have been so important to our wellbeing and mental health. We asked designers to demonstrate how communities can come together to achieve this through a garden. The winning entries will be showcased at LANDSCAPE on the 3rd & 4th of November.
