lle Olimpiadi Torino2006 si è presentato come la Cenerentola degli sport invernali. Eppure la bella e mitica Brigitte Bardot davanti il Majestic Miramonti (foto sopra) lanciava negli anni ‘60 la “stone”, roccia di granito scozzese tonda e del peso approssimativo di venti chili. Risalgono al 1949 le partite giocate sul ghiaccio del “rink” dell’hotel Cristallo che, grazie a Leo Menardi, nel ’53 divenne sede del Curling Club Cristallo. Abili “sweepers” prolungavano la corsa delle “stones” verso il punto indicato dal capo squadra sul campo di gioco che guardava le Tofane mentre gli ospiti osservavano i giocatori (“curlers”) sorseggiando un darjeeling tea

Era l’età della Dolce Vita quando il Curling faceva parte di quel mondo affascinante e veramente da intenditori che a Cortina trova nel 1969 con l’Italian Curling Association la sede ufficiale riconosciuta dal Word Curling Federation. Oggi il gioco non è mutato nelle sue regole fondamentali le cui tre “C” essenziali: concentrazione, confidenza, confort determinano un buon lancio. “A Torino2006 con il 7° posto della squadra italiana la Cenerentola ha però catturato la curiosità dei Media e dopo quarant’anni il Curling afferma nuovamente a Cortina la sua importante valenza sportiva e la capacità di suscitare interesse mediatico con l’assegnazione della sede del Word Men’s Curling Championship che si svolgerà nel 2010” dice con orgoglio Gianluca Lorenzi, presidente del Comitato Organizzazione Mondiali 2010. Il CURLING si troverà quindi sotto i riflettori del mondo intero durante dieci giorni di partite teletrasmesse da Eurosport. Cortina ospiterà ottomila fra partecipanti, accompagnatori, tifosi ed appassionati. Nel frattempo nel 2009 si prepara alle prove generali della macchina organizzativa dei Mondiali 2010 con un Test Event che si terrà dal 13 al 19 aprile allo Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio dove si svolgerà un Doubles Mix, nuova specialità inventata dalla Federazione che vedrà in gioco squadre formate da un uomo

ed una donna che si scontreranno alla pari sul ghiaccio in un gioco veloce ed avvincente. Teodoro Sartori, presidente del GIS che si occuperà della cura e gestione degli impianti sportivi che accoglieranno i mondiali, dice: “ Stiamo potenziando e migliorando lo storico Stadio Olimpico la cui idoneità la Federazione Mondiale del Curling è già venuta a verificare. Stiamo applicando agli impianti preesistenti tecnologie avanzate per il controllo della temperatura del ghiaccio e dell’umidità che verranno così controllati in ogni punto della pista per rendere la sua superficie perfetta e performante e al contempo per garantire al pubblico il massimo confort con una stadio riscaldato e con una capienza di 4.000 posti a sedere. Alla fine del 2008 i lavori termineranno e lo Stadio sarà pronto ad accogliere al top le Nazioni partecipanti”. t the 2006 Turin Olympic games, the winter cinderella sport was present too. No one less than, the 2010 beautiful and the legendary Brigitte Bardot in front of the Majestic Miramonti in the 60’s threw the “stone”, the Scottish round granite rock that weighed about twenty kilograms . The games played on the hotel Cristallo’s ice rink date back to 1949 that, thanks to Leo Menardi, in year 53’ became the headquarters of the Cristallo Curling Club. Skilled sweepers took the stones towards the point on the rink, facing the Tofane, indicated by the captain of the team, whilst the guests looked at the players (curlers), sipping a Darjeeling tea on the terrace of the hotel. It was the dolce vita age, when curling was part of that fascinating world for true connoisseurs and in 1969 for what concerns the Italian Curling Association, the official headquarters was in Cortina recognized by the World Curling Federation. Today the game has not changed its fundamental rules, of which its 3 essential “C”s: concentration, confidence and comfort determine a good throw.
