FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL Atlantic City Feasts Story by Chuck Knutson

Harken back to the roman days of bacchanalia and celebrate like Dionysus this weekend as Atlantic City flexes its gourmet muscles. Join the crowds of epicureans and indulge yourself knowing that the highest good is pleasure. Immerse yourself in the finest of wines, foods, beers, and cigars presented in four grand days of delight known as The Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival. The festival producer, Jon Henderson, known for his many successful events, lends his expertise to this pinnacle of regional luxury lifestyle events. No expense or effort was spared in assembling great chefs from the Food Network and local restaurants. Wine experts, pastry chefs, vintners, as well as other food and drink professionals will converge upon the city to exhibit their talents. The festival is comprised of many events allowing the casual pleasure seeker the opportunity to partake in as many or as few as desired. Events include; The Grand Market: Eat, drink and indulge your way through this tasting village, showcasing more than 100 stations featuring food samples, New Jersey wine tasting, spirits and more from worldrenowned restaurants and brands. Mia Seminar Series: America’s premier wine-tasting seminars return to the shore with Michael Green’s hands-on seminar, designed to educate oenophiles with exemplary wines from around the world. Book Store & Signings: Throughout the weekend, festival goers are given a wonderful opportunity to shop for their favorite cookbooks from the festival personalities and meet their favorite culinary idols. Define “Cheese-Steak”: Join our guest celebrity chef as he walks you through a who’s who of cheese steaks while local sub shops battle it out for votes in the contest to find the “Best Of” this Philadelphia classic. Sunset Sliders, Sushi & Saki: Summer nights along the Jersey coastline are like none other and when you add a chic, rooftop party with Sushi & Saki, then it must be at Caesars. This is our unique version of a ‘surf and turf’ party atop the Pool Deck at Caesars, all paired with Saki tasting. Sweet & Stylish: Blending designer fashion and sensual desserts, Chef Buddy Valastro from Cake Boss and owner of Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, NJ, will create the ultimate nightlife event and one-of-akind showcase of style and decadance, displaying favorite specialty cocktails and sweets for your tasting pleasure. Join celebrity chefs Anne Burrell, Tyler Florence, Robert Irvine, Paula Deen, Aaron Sanchez, Buddy Valastro and Andrew Zimmern as they prepare foods of fantasy. Foods and wines of this caliber were once only available to royalty and aristocracy. Now, we all may enjoy these pleasures. Come share with us in the feast. SPMag.co

South Jersey Car Shows & Cruises Beer CraZy by Contributing Writer, Nick Gaudio This week’s beer is Allagash White. From Portland, Maine, this Belgian Witbier is one of the best of its category for domestically brewed beer. It pours a cloudy yellow, due to the unfiltered wheat, with a white, foamy head. It has an extremely drinkable sweet citrus, clove, and coriander flavor that goes down just as smoothly as it hits the tongue. For those unaccustomed to unfiltered wheat beer, do not shy away from Allagash because of the cloudiness. On a warm day, one of these served with a lemon wedge can be the most refreshing beverage choice.

Some Like It Hot… But Most Work Best When They’re NOT. Author: Steve Amadio, ECR Staff Writer See More at ExoticCarResource.com

Thermal coatings can be used to reduce high temperatures in vehicle components, like exhaust manifolds and engine compartments. Lowering the temperature in these parts helps to boost horsepower in the vehicle overall. The horsepower boost is especially noticeable in vehicles with a lot of horsepower already. Thermal coatings primarily include ceramic coating of metal components. There are other types of thermal coatings, such as heat wrap, which can be used for specific purposes. However, for this article, we will focus on the ceramic coatings. Most ceramics can withstand temperatures of 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit. The durability in extreme temperatures makes ceramic a good choice for exhaust manifolds, exhaust pipes and headers. The ceramic coating on these parts will help prevent rust. At the same time, the coating will not burn off because of the extreme temperatures. Ceramic On Rotors Is a Sharp Look… Another valuable use of ceramic is on the rotors behind the wheels. Rotors tend to oxidize and rust over time taking away from the overall appearance of a vehicle. At Checkers, we provide a service for removing the wheels, ceramic coating the rotors and replacing the wheels. The ceramic-coated rotors provide a clean look that is a nice backdrop for the wheels. Insulcoat Your Components Like the Space Shuttle… Another form of ceramic coating is called insulcoating. It is used for insulating components. Insulcoating allows hot exhaust gasses to travel out of the car and not absorb through the walls of the parts to enter the car. This insulating coating also provides minimal gains in horsepower. Insulcoating is applied in wet form to the inside of the pipe. The process takes multiple days to fully cure. When dry, insulcoating has a chalky white appearance. It is similar to materials used on the bottom of the space shuttle to minimize heat transfer to the cabin and cargo bay. Compared to powder coating, true thermal coatings have a more limited selection of colors. The most popular colors are black and tungsten ceramic. Specialty shops can provide ceramic in a chromelike bright silver, as well. How Thermal Coatings Are Applied… The application process includes preparation, application and curing. • Each part must be sandblasted using media specific to that part. • Next, each piece should be cleaned with a solvent cleaner. • Third, the parts are pre-baked to remove any oils, greases, contaminants, dirt, etc. • After the part is properly prepped, the ceramic or insulcoating is applied wet. • The part is allowed to air dry until fully cured. • Parts may be baked to expedite the curing process. Professionals Only – Please… You should have ceramic coating applied by a professional shop. While ceramic paint can be purchased locally, it is not the industrial level that you really need. Generally, the type of ceramic paint that you can purchase locally can only withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees and changes color beyond that temp range. If you have any additional questions about ceramic coatings, you can reach Steve through http://www.checkerspowdercoating.com. The phone number at Checkers is 609-965-6300.
