In the beginning.... In the beginning there was a ray of light. It was floating through the space, beautifully coloured. It passed by asteroids, stars and planets. They were lifeless, dead, but the ray of light was alive. It had the power to wake up everything she touched. All of her awakened planets were different. Once, it passed by the Sun and noticed a tiny grey ball in the distance,a cute little planet. The ray of light decided to give life to it. It touched the planet gently as it was so fragile. Suddenly, the planet started rotating. It wasn't grey anymore-it became blue and green. The ray of light called it the Earth. The planet developed very quickly. It discovered love and hate, beauty and ugliness, fear and safety. From time to time the ray of light comes to check out its planet. People of the Earth often see it. They call it the rainbow. It was raining heavily. Look at the sky now! Maybe you'll see the ray of light that we owe our lives to.

In the beginning.... In the beginning there was only darkness and silence. Suddenly,a voice said:' Who turned off the light?' That was God, the most perfect being. SHE looked so beautiful, except that she didn't see well and then there were no contacts. When She finished with the creation of the world, She had to make her and him. She took enough time to make her perfect. There was the problem of time, the inspection was coming to check everything. The man was not made yet so She took a monkey, fixed its hair, shaved him and made him kind of good-looking. In the end, since the inspection wasn't happy with Adam, they made our lives really hard. The world hasn't recovered since- and men haven't changed.

In the beginning.... Once upon a time, when the universe was a little stupid baby, there lived God. He called himself God because he was quite selfcentered. Actually, he was a very stupid fellow and his how-to-make-pudding skill was all that he possessed. In this case, applying 'Ignorance is Bliss' theory is a complete success. He lived alone in the dark for about five billion years. Then he got pretty bored with doing the same pudding so he decided that the best course of action in the next five billion years was to change things around him. That was quite difficult because he didn't know what change actually was. He tried to make different shapes and sizes. He made the first animals and plants. It was very simple but hopeless- everyone was made of pudding so they ate each other to satisfy their hunger. He still felt lonely and empty.

One day, a strange invisible force took his hands and started to make beautiful shapes out of pudding. Making very complex curves, his hands, driven by something that was beyond his understanding soon made the most beautiful creature in the world. He was dazzled by her beauty, her smooth milky skin, her blue eyes that reminded him of blue skies and her long hair that reminded him of nothing because he had never seen such beauty before. Then the divine creature opened her mouth:'Oh, good grief, what is this? This place is a mess. It looks like a zoo!' Poor God was a god no more. He married the woman as he called the being. The woman made some rearrangements. She complicated the world (so no one was made of pudding any more), created her offspring, called herself Eve and invented soap operas.

Plan B Mark has committed a crime. He shot a man with a gun and stole 100000 $ in cash from his house. Soon he had to face the police and his conscience because the guilt was haunting him. His wife Laura saw the stolen money and felt scared and disappointed. When she caught a chance, she called the police. Mark found that out as he came home. He hid the money in the safe and was thinking about his chances. It didn't take him too long to figure something out. He went into the bedroom and called Kate, the woman he was having an affair with. They made a deal that she would come to his house and they would run away with the stolen money. Actually, Mark wasn't quite happy because he loved his wife but he decided to do it because he felt betrayed by her. He quickly took his briefcase and put the money in it.

At that moment Laura walked into the bedroom. She was angry to have caught him red-handed.Mark argued with her trying to explain things but, of course, she didn't believe him. She knew that he was unpredictible so she was scared to death. Suddenly, Mark took out the gun and shot her as she was going to the door to escape. Then, somebody knocked on the front door. It was Kate. It was time for the two of them to leave. They took the taxi to the airport knowing that they need to get out of the country as soon as possible. Before getting on the plane, it suddenly hit them both; in all that rush, they forgot their passports. Another thing soon happened. They were identified by the airport police and arrested. On the way to jail, they jumped out of the car and ran away, but without money. They left the briefcase. Life was far more important now. And getting those passports. Mexico, here we come.

Top Secret Two days ago a man went to the Nevada desert to investigate some debris which looked quite like the one from Roseland. He found some very strange material that returned to shape no matter how badly you deformed it.As he was investigating, he had the feeling that someone was watching him. He put down some notes in his diary and left it on the spot. He never '

returned home and more than half of the material was gone. The next day detectives came to search for him. His diary was found. Allegedly, some of the notes contained highly classified information. Some of it leaked and caused quite a mess. People started believing the government was hiding a lot from them. Some of the man's clothes were found misplaced around the desert. His jeep was found smashed directly under a cliff which was over two hundred feet high. The investigator has yet to be heard of‌

The End  It was a sunny afternoon. Ms Teapot was drinking coffee in the study. She thought she was alone but she was wrong. Her killer was already there, hiding in the old wardrobe which she hadn't been using for a long time. He observed her every movement, followed her everywhere, 'studying' her. Finally she went to bed. Alone in the dark, she was an easy target for him. He quietly made his way up the carpet-covered stairs which made his steps less noisy. When he got to her room, he found her sleeping very tightly. He took a pillow and pressed it against her face, not giving her the chance to scream. Leaving her body on the bed, he vanished into the night.

The next morning her brother came to the house looking for her. He looked everywhere-in the garden where she used to spend all day, in the living room and her study. In the end he found her in her bedroom. Looking at his sister's lifeless body, he couldn't think straight. While looking at her portrait, he phoned the police. The police came and detective Bryan looked at the murder weapon, the pillow, while the brother was looking like a cut down willow. The murderer went in and out like a shadow in the night, leaving only death behind. The poor Nancy will never again see the sun shining bright.

A Better Place There I was, on a spaceship, alone. I had a fight with my friends, a really stupid one, to be precise, so stupid that I couldn’t even remember why we were fighting in the first place. Now with everyone I know still on Earth, I landed on a small but wonderful planet. Only animals and plants were there, no traffic noise, no sound of people yelling or anything similar, just the sound of birds singing their spring song. I looked around and what I saw amazed me there was no fighting, no crying‌ everyone was happy and they were helping each other.

All of a sudden the feeling of happiness came over me but I knew I had to go, I was a human and that was the last thing they needed. So I went back home and didn’t tell anyone about that little heaven (and if you’ve ever met me you know that keeping it quiet wasn’t easy for me). I pray every night that no one ever finds out about that place because if they do, they’ll destroy it, the same way they are destroying the Earth, step by step, day by day - until there is nothing more to destroy.

My Dreams of the Future When I think of the world's future, I like to imagine that things will be better, different. Society will be pure, forgivable, accepting. Everybody will fit in, there will be no bullying people that are in any way different. I wish that there would be no war nor pain nor suffering. We would all find peace and forgiveness in our hearts. I dream that we would all be united together, no wrong choices, no bad decisions. People will stop being shallow, everybody will be safe and happy. I wish for all of those things to happen. One day every person on this planet will wake up and realize all of the wrong things that need to be taken care of. Hope is what we all need.

My Journal Day 1:

It is now 3 a.m.and the firemen have just left. Interesting way to start a story, isn't it? To be short this is what happened: While I was sleeping, I kicked a lamp, it fell on the bed and turned on. The fire spread slowly so it took a while for my leg to start burning. If you are wondering what happened to my leg, I got a minor stage 3 burn. Day 2: The only interesting thing today is that I solved that Einstein riddle: Where is the rabbit? He said that 98% of humanity can't solve it.Well, it took my 4 hours, but I did it. Day 3: I scored a goal. Why is this so special? Because I'm a goalkeeper. I scored a goal from one end of the field to another.

My Journal Day 1: My best friend's mother lost her life in a car crash this summer. She was smashed in a tunnel. I don't get it-how can she be so full of life. We exchange CDs and she explains me some lines I don't know. Nirvana was Ana's favourite band. Now she has found her nirvana. Day 2: Today for the first time I felt the normal rhythm of the school year. No more surprises with the timetable, no more stress. Â Day 3: I like this Indian summer although everybody complains about it. People take it for a bad sign.Maybe they are right. Maybe we are living apocalyptic times.

In my opinion... ...a mobile phone is like a desktop computer that is not heavy to pack in your bag when you're going on vacation. ...mobile phones are really popular nowadays. The bad thing is that they can be used for bullying. ...it's a replacement for many things and it's really small so it comes in handy. But please, don't put posts about every step you take. ...you isolate yourself from the real people and the real world and have no sense of reality. Have your phone but live a life. ...we shouldn't use it all the time. There is a high risk of accidents if you're talking on your mobile phone and driving at the same time.

In my opinion... ...they make our lives easier because they are like mini-computers. We also feel safe with them by our side. Yet, little kids don't need them. ...when you have a mobile phone, you hold the whole world in your hands in a way. The world would be weird without technology. ...many people can't separate from their mobile phone. They carry it around everywhere like it's a part of their body. ...it is impolite when people meet at the bar just to type and look at their mobile phones all the time.

My Farewell to Primary School Dear primary school, It has been a great ride. I still remember the very first day here like it was yesterday. We were just a bunch of little kids put in the same room on a Monday morning. It was a little weird at first. We were quiet and insecure and nobody knew that we would become great friends. We were sitting at our desks, not knowing what to do. With time we got to know each other better. Later, a few field trips brought us closer together. There were a lot of things going on in those days, both good and bad, but we were doing everything together. We played outside every single day and did interesting projects in the afternoon. Over these eight years, we've had a lot of fun and our friendship has grown.

Our first teacher made all our worries go away fast. On the other hand, some teachers made us think that they were very strict and serious, but we knew they only wanted us to expand our knowledge. We needed to study more but still we had enough time for our hobbies, hanging out and having fun. They watched us grow and become what we are now. Our time together has almost come to an end. I am sad to leave you, the teachers and (most of all) my friends. I have to admit that my classmates changed me. If I wasn't in this class, I would probably be a completely different person. I hope I will stay in touch with them and that they won't be just a face without a name one day- the people I knew and forgot.

We are turning a new page in our lives. I don't know if we will miss our teachers as wellwe'll see as the time goes by. Anyway, I would like to thank them for teaching us and for putting up with us. They have taught us a lot about their subjects and about life itself. I don't think that we realise it yet, but everything is going to change soon. Right now, we are focusing on getting the best possible final grades and choosing the right high school for us. All in all, my school life has had its ups and downs, but everything will turn out alright in the end, just like it always does in life.

I am in the eight grade, actually this is my last month with you. Although I am little afraid of leaving you and my friends, I am also excited about the future. You can never know for sure what it really holds. Thank you for making my childhood better. So, this is it- my farewell letter to you, my way of saying goodbye. All the best, Your 8th-grader

Together We Are When a boy named Noa was six years old, his father took him to his first ice hockey game. It was year 2009. That year Medveščak played their first EBEL season. It was a big thing for a small boy. From the next season they got seasonal tickets with their personal seats within the ice hockey arena. Since then, they have experienced countless wonderful moments and great matches. However, there is a moment, a day that he will remember as long as he lives. The story goes back to the day when Medveščak played against one of its greatest rivals, a team from Hungary. After Noa and his dad entered the ice hockey arena called the Home of Sports, his dad asked him: “Noa, where is your Medveščak scarf?” That scarf was his favorite one. His dad bought it for him when he attended his second ice hockey game ever.

It was very special because you could only find it in a fan shop during the first EBEL season. The scarf was blue with a white colored bear head logo from Medveščak on the one side and with bear paws with claws on another side. Noa tried to find it around his body, but the scarf was not there. His dad told him to wait for him with his friend Alan and Noa watched him run from the arena to the outside in hope that he would find Noa’s lost scarf. He was waiting in sadness with Alan who is a real ice hockey expert. Dad came back and told Noa he couldn’t find the scarf. They were walking to their seats feeling very sad. Tears were flowing down Noa’s cheeks like an endless waterfall. During the first period of the game Medveščak was losing with 0:1 score and it looked like they would lose the game. Noa’s sadness for the lost scarf was strengthened by the fact that they were one goal behind their rival.

He barely watched the game at that time feeling very inconsolable. His dad tried to encourage him but with no success. Then he told Noa to wait on his seat. He climbed up the arena stairs towards the commentary box. He talked to one of the commentators, the guy whose nickname is Baby Dooks. He asked him to announce, during the game breaks, that Noa’s scarf was lost and kindly ask the potential founder to bring it to the commentary box. His dad returned to Noa who didn’t know at that time why he went upstairs. When he returned, Medveščak was now losing with 0:2 score.During the first intermission Baby Dooks repeated the request twice. His voice was heard over the arena: ”A boy lost his Medvešak fan scarf, we ask the polite finder to bring the scarf to the commentary box“. Noa’s father raised him in the air so that people could see him.

However, the second half passed and Medveščak was still losing 0:2. Nothing could cheer him up. He was able to see sadness in his father’s eyes, too. Soon the third period started and Alba was still leading. Tears were flooding in. And then, during the next intermission, Noa and his father heard Baby Dooks’s voice again: ”Let the boy come to pick up his scarf!” Noa wanted his father to get it but his father told HIM to go instead. Noa will never forget how he felt at that moment. There were no longer tears of sadness running from his eyes but tears of happiness. Noa climbed up the stadium stairs. When he got up the stairs, Baby Dooks handed him the scarf and the whole crowd applauded and the people started yelling: ”Bravo!!!” The intermission was still lasting. Noa returned to his seat and put his scarf around his neck and then

performed his standard mantra he did since the first day when he put the scarf on: placing it gently around his neck and tapping bear’s paws for good luck. A minute passed and in the 54th minute (only 6 minutes before the end of the game), Noa's favourite player Frank Banham scored the first goal and very soon player Adam Naglich scored for the tie. In three minutes Banham scored again for the lead! Everybody was singing and yelling. Noa's eyes we full again but with tears of happiness. He and his father had their traditional celebration and it looked like this: his father would rise him on his shoulders and they would sing a song 'Serbus'. The goals were scored so fast that his father didn't have time to put him down before the end of the game. In the end MedveĹĄÄ?ak won. Everybody was happy and the whole arena was singing.

Noa's joy was immense. He felt as if the crowd in the arena were one big family. He never felt like that before. His happiness was like a big cake, but it was missing a cherry. The cherry was added by Noa's friends from sector F, one of the sitting sectors from the arena, who approached him and started patting him. They were telling him that his lost-and-found scarf brought the victory. When Noa got home, he couldn't sleep because of the great event. His scarf was next to him on his pillow. To this day Noa and his father go to the ice hockey games with the same scarf that is now carefully guarded. Life is a writer of great stories. Noa will always remember when he first looked at the sign inside the arena happy to see the letters joined together to announce the MedveĹĄÄ?ak motto TOGETHER WE ARE.

White Lies  Metropolis is the future and the dream, the city where there is everything you could ever want or need in your life. Yet, Noah thinks and feels that it is far from the dream or perfection. The most anticipated things happen as he daydreams. What Earth is now it's what it never was before; what we see now is something nobody could prepare us for.Thousands of long white buildings spread around his city, with wide marble floors and clean glass windows. Perfectly cut grass illuminated by the light seems to be catching his eyes as he walks by. Noah sees people either with phones or iPads in their hands which have screens that blend in with the sky showing colorful apps. Everyone is smiling a lot, not a single person is in a bad mood.

''What may seem perfect on the outside might be far from perfection on the inside'', Noah reckons. Everyone is dressed in white or neutral colors, no adventures or excitement, but all in all, pretty much bland. People function like robots doing the same things day by day, eating the same boring prescribed heathy food.If you disobey, let's just say that it will not end well for you in this day and age. The government has us where they want us. We are obedient sheep, not questioning anything they do. This is the perfect world for them, but not for Noah. There are no more colorful clothes and endless buildings and humans in different shapes and sizes. Movies and music have all been deleted and forgotten. Noah has never known anything different. Nevertheless, he feels like there is something missing in his life. Life here is like a spinnning circle of monotonous air and if you get sucked in, there's no going back.

The most famous world's company, White Circle Corporations, has a branch in every bigger city of the world. They have everything, from programs that calculate your moods and tell you what exactly you should do on a daily basis, to company doctors that can put you in perfect shape before you decide to take a break from work. You don't need to think about your future‌ the company will plan it all for you.The walls are pretty much all made of glass, and you can see at all times what everyone is doing. Privacy is strictly forbidden, people work from early in the morning to late at night and their work is never done. People stopped arguing a long time ago, they're drained, and now they just listen. They listen to what they're told, they do what they're told to do- and they get the job done.

Everyone tends to ignore the imperfections that this world upholds. Noah is looking at the stray people in the streets shocked by their empty happiness. The hearts of those people don't really feel. They just eat, sleep, breathe without a glance back or a thought; because thoughts overwhelm, thoughts bring questions and questions long for answers. But there are no simple answers to all this. It's just how life is nowadays. Noah breathes with great effort, fighting the big thoughts in his mind and the pounding of his heart. What is life without deep thoughts or feelings that overflow you? What is life without passion, lust or adventure? Or the possibility of doing wrong? What is life if you're just a walking empty shell, smiling when you're told to, not questioning? Is this the beginning of the end or the end of the new beginning? Are we living?

The New Century Love Story Part 1: Milo: I’m a perfect boy for any girl in the world, but only one girl is the one. Roger told me so and he never lies. Today I’m going to talk to her for the first time on Instabook. I can’t wait. Janett: This is my lucky day. The most handsome boy ever has just followed my account on Instabook. I followed him back, of course, and a minute later I got his message. He told me he liked my name and we started talking. We seem to have a lot in common. He’s really smart and knows a lot about, well, everything. It’s such fun to talk to him.

Milo: I talked to the most wonderful girl. Her name is Janett. I think she finds me interesting. She always laughs at my jokes and wants to know more about me. She had to go to sleep so we couldn’t talk longer. Janett: I can’t stop thinking about him. I was thinking about him while I was having dinner with my parents. Today we ordered Chinese food that had been delivered straight from China. My parents told me that long ago people used to eat in restaurants. Nowadays we go to restaurants only for meetings. I would

really

like

to

meet

Milo

at

the

restaurant one day. I’m really starting to like him.

Milo: I was looking at Janett’s photo today. She is the most perfect human being. I’m so bored when I’m not talking to her. Janett: I’m so lonely. People of the past used to spend a lot of time together. I have 5734 online friends, but in my whole life, I’ve met only three people in person. Every day I spend six hours attending my online classes and playing online games that simulate the real ones. Then my parents come home and we have dinner together. I love them but we rarely talk because they go back to work right after dinner. They both work in a science lab trying to create a DNA for humans to live forever and also to survive on other planets (because there would be too many people if we all lived forever).

Anyway, after they go to work I’m lonely. Unless I’m talking to him. “Do you ever feel lonely, Milo?”, I asked him. Milo: “Do you ever feel lonely?” I had never thought of that until Janett asked me.”But, I’ve never met anyone in person. I’m always alone”, I thought. “But it’s better when I’m with you”, I added to make her feel better. “Thank you, Milo. That’s why I’m here", she said. Janett: He hasn’t typed anything for a few minutes so I continued: “I think people should meet face to face more often. What do you think?” “That would be nice!”, he replied. “Do you want to meet me today. ” He wrote: “No, I can’t.”

I didn’t know why, so I asked him- and waited for 5, 10, 15 minutes. But he didn't answer. I was just sitting there confused when I noticed he wasn’t online any more. I quickly checked his location and realized that he had left his apartment. I tried to phone him, but he rejected all my calls- and then he blocked me! I couldn’t let that happen. I couldn’t let that perfect boy disappear from my life just like that. I left the apartment and started walking towards him, following his location on my phone. Suddenly his spot disappeared from my screen as he turned off his GPS. I don’t remember exactly when I started running. Part 2: Janett finally came to Middle Square and saw him. "Milo, what's happened?", she said quietly. He covered his eyes with his arms and turned around so she could only see his back.

"Milo! "She tried to move his arms, but she couldn't. It was like they were made of iron. "You have to talk to me!" "You don't understand," he said. His voice was cold and expressionless. "You don't know who I am." "What do you mean? You're the boy I met online." Her voice suddenly turned to mute. Her mouth stayed opened, but she wasn't saying anything. Tears filled her eyes. Milo moved his hands and was looking at her, actually through her, with his empty eyes made of glass. She could see a perfect blue iris, but not blue like the sky or the sea, more like a blue T-shirt from the store. The weirdest things were his pupils, they were black, but if you looked deeper you could see two tiny letters R and C.

Janett couldn't believe she hadn't noticed that in his profile photo before and started crying louder. "You're a...robot?" "I'm so sorry. The Roger Company has made 5110 robots, including me, in a series called Perfect Match in order to make people less lonely, he said apologetically. "But that's so...wrong. They're not helping anyone" said Janett quietly. They were just looking at each other while she was still crying. Then Milo said: I think it's beautiful that you can laugh, cry, love... I can't feel anything. And I will never be able to. I hope you'll find true love one day. " He turned his head with a little buzz sound. "They have come. They have to reset me and set me up with another girl", he said as some tall people in suits were getting out of the car. "No!" she cried when they came closer to them.

They grabbed Milo and dragged him into the car. "This is all wrong", she cried. The car was just about to go, but Janett knocked on the window. A man who was sitting in the driver's seat opened the window and said. "Sorry, kid. That's how this world works." Â He closed the window and the car set off. In a split second it speeded up and disappeared behind the corner.

Little Hands The winter was about to say its last goodbye in our hometown. It wasn't very cold, the remains of snow that stayed on boughs were melting, birds started singing shyly. The huge local park, that could remind anyone of a real jungle, was slowly waking up. Not many people visited that park: it was dirty, scary and you could easily get lost. But luckily there were also six little hands that changed the park forever. Those three heroes were, at that time, still children. The oldest girl, thirteen-year-old Eve, was taking her younger brother, eight-year-old Jack and her younger sister, four-year-old Susie to the park. Eve's father, God rest his soul, used to take her there every single day so she knew the park better than herself. Still, she was very nervous.

She hadn't visited that park since her childhood and this was the first time that she took her younger siblings out there. As they entered the park, the wild wind almost knocked them over introducing them to the strength of freedom. Everything around them was green and, you're guessing rightwild. A poisonous ivy was climbing a tree. Eve stood there breathless. Memories of her father that had died of cancer soon after Susie's birth appeared in her head. Susie seemed to like it because she started running around and singing. Jack, lazybutt, was sleepily looking around as he hadn't slept that well the night before. “Yes, this part of the park is nice, but I want to take you to somewhere even better“, announced Eve. She turned left and then continued straight, looking for something.

'She lifted up a few giant leaves and – bam! They were standing in front of a small playground with three yellow swings, a red slide, a merry-go-round and several wooden benches. But there was something wrong. The place didn't look now how Eve remembered it. Firstly, there were no kids, and that was the most popular little playground in town. Secondly, the slide was broken, and anyone who dared to slide could easily break a bone! Yet, the most shocking thing was that it was so dirty. Plastic bags were hanging off the trees, bottles were lying around in dirt, cigarette stubs were everywhere. Susie and Jack ran to the swings ignoring all that dirt. Eve sat down on a little bench keeping an eye on her siblings.

After a few minutes, Susie came to Eve. “Eve, I don't like it here. It is scary and dirty“, said Susie with her eyes shining. Jack found some old ball so he started knocking it around. Eve's phone rang. Susie ran back to Jack trying to take the ball away from him. „Pals, Mom just called, it's time for lunch“, said Eve. She couldn't forget what Susie had told her and suddenly got an idea- to clear the mess in the park. They came home and Mom gave them lunch. All of them were really hungry so they ate everything that was on their plates. Susie fell asleep after lunch. Jack was reading a book while Eve was thinking about Susie's remark. They HAD TO do something.

Early next morning Eve went to the store and bought three pairs of rubber gloves. After breakfast, Eve took her siblings to the park again. Soon, they were standing in front of the swings. The whole place seemed even dirtier than before. “Susie, I was thinking about what you said yesterday“, started Eve, “Today, we are going to make a difference“. She gave them the gloves. They put them on and started picking up the garbage and putting it into black trash bags. Exactly at that time, a man was passing by the kids. He stopped, looking at them in surprise. He pulled out his camera and started taking pictures of the kids as they were cleaning. „Hey, what are you doing?“, asked Jack suspiciously. “Oh, I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself. I'm from a local newspaper.“ „So, you're only a journalist in search of inspiration?“, said Eve.

“Yes“, answered the journalist. “Please, write about this“, she continued. The journalist talked to the kids and wrote down everything they told him. When he asked the kids to stand under the bag that had flown to the nearest branch, it suddenly moved (yet there was no wild wind today). Eve climbed the tree and took the bag down. As soon as her feet touched the ground, there was no doubt that the bag was moving. Eve opened the bag and a little black kitten looked at her with its yellow eyes. “Hello, you“, said Eve picking up the kitten. Kids started patting the little creature. “Oh, can we take her with us Eve, pleeeeease?“, begged Jack and Susie. Eve was thinking: “We have cleaned up the whole park. Is Mother Nature sending us this little fellow as a reward?“

The journalist took some more pictures, thanked the kids and then happily got out of park having the story for headlines. The kids were so very proud. They went home and took the kitten with them. Mom wasn't the happiest about cleaning the park, but she loved cats so she let the little kitten stay with them. The next morning there was a newspaper on the coffee table with the largest headline screaming: Kid heroes cleaned up the whole park. The mayor decided to fix the red slide and to put more lighting in the park so that people wouldn't be afraid to come there anymore.

It is the end of April and the park is crowded again. Everyone wants to come with their kids. It used to be scary and dirty, but now it is the happiest place in our hometown. That's how our precious kitty got her name: Happy. Our little hands have shown that actions speak louder than words. Let us cherish what we have. The spring is about to say its last goodbye sooner than we think.

Amani Mark Twain said that we should write about what we knew. Let me begin this story of liberty by telling you who I am. My name is Joseph Madiba. I was born into a poor family in a small village near the city of Ouadda in the Central African Republic. My dad ran a small tire business in Bangui and my mum took care of us back home. I remember walking for hours upon hours with my brothers and sisters just to get to school. There I met my best friend Djalle who was two years older than me. We used to play football and tag together having no worries.

But the time was to say goodbye to my school, my city and all I knew as I had to go to college in Bangui. My dad almost talked us into moving to Bangui because there we would have many more opportunities, I mean- me and my siblings. But there was no way to persuade my mother. In Bangui I attended l’Universite de Gobongo. I was a good student, everything was great on paper, but inside I began feeling homesick. I soon missed my old life, my mom the most. In Bangui I lived in the center of the city with one of my classmates whose name was Phillipe. However, at first we didn’t get along well, but in time we became really close friends. We would commute to school daily by motorcycle. One day on the way back home, Phillipe saw an old typewriter for sale. That was the thing we needed the most at the time.

We stopped and asked the owner for the price and he answered in Bangui slang: “This one? It is only 50000.” Phillipe quickly responded: ”Even in America it isn’t that expensive.” Phillipe would give 20000. But the vendor kept insisting on the price of 50000 saying: ”Look friend, it is perfect, very fast typing, cheapest in Bangui.”I finally ended the negotiations by getting it myself for 35000. The deal was done and I got the typewriter. There was the smell of victory in the air. As soon as we came home, we tried to see how it works (to realize it wasn’t worth the money). The next month a great riot struck my country. The president was assassinated by an extremist of the Kwa party. He called it revenge and soon massive protests started. My homeland was divided by various political groups, almost right after the terrorist’s bomb attack on the government building.

I woke up that night to guns and screams. When I looked from my bedroom window, I saw a large crowd of men in front of the government building. It turned out that the prime minister had burnt himself in front of the crowd half an hour before. The country was in a shambles and there seemed to be no hope for the future. I still have no clue about what came over me, but I launched into a long rant about the need for fight against extremists. What is more, I started gaining instant popularity around the country being some kind of a leader of the anti-war party. The elections came after two months and in the meanwhile my college had been bombarded along with many important landmarks in other cities. There was chaos everywhere.

The civil war seemed inevitable so I ran for the presidency challenged by a dozen contestants. It was basically the fight between me, Kamara and the military general Kondlegba. I promised to reunite the country and offer free education to all. We all know that education is window to the future. I would reward the people who contribute to the society and the environment. By 2050 our country would get all its energy from renewable sources (God knows we have a lot of sunny days). Later that year I was sitting on my couch with Phillipe watching the news, waiting for the results of the elections. I was a bit sad when I finished second. Yet I realized that I would have probably been killed if I had won so I wasn’t that disappointed. I’m only human after all.

A few months passed by and the election of current President, Kamara came into question with suspicion that the elections had been rigged. Most political parties wanted ME to take charge of the country until the situation was resolved. Just like that, in a few months, I went from being an average student to being appointed the President. All of a sudden it struck me how much work I needed to do. I was not certain that I would be capable of fulfilling the promises that I had given before. I knew I would first have to mend the current situation.

(“Amani”means “peace” in Swahili, and in Arabic it means “hope, trust, security, wish”)

Six months have passed so quickly. The country has become more stable with the big cities being protected. There’s no sign of terrorism in them, but sadly, the rest of the country is still controlled by various terrorist groups and the military. In my recent public speech, I’ve called out the military and the terrorist groups saying that they are the reason why our beloved country is not prospering. My next goal is to help the UN peacekeeping troops to restore peace and initiate prosperity. In a matter of weeks our international friends will be here and we will, hopefully, start changing my country for the better. Together. Maybe one day other African countries will follow our example. I would like to think that I have contributed to making my continent, this cradle of humankind, a better place. There is the smell of hope in the air.

Love of War John and William were best friends and both of them were kings of their countries, England and Scotland. The story takes place in England, in 1756. Amalia was William's sister. John was a womanizer and Jane was his last wife but William and Jane had been lovers a long time before. John and Amelia fell in love but they kept it hidden because William didn't want them to be together. One day they were walking and kissing in the forest when Jane came and saw them. Immediately she went to tell that to William. He got so angry that he attacked Wiliams's Kingdom of Scotland. Jane was on William's side. The soldiers were fighting till death. John had a son named George who wanted to fight so he joined the army without his father's permission. William's army killed George.Â

John was standing over his body while William's army was winning. When William found out that he killed George, he got desperate. But Jane wasn't sad because that wasn't her child. John was so angry that he started a new war. William and Jane ran away. Amalia was torn between two sides. She was trying to find out William and Jane and she finally did. John was having dinner as William, Amalia and Jane came. They were arguing and talking about emotions and George's death. John apologised to William because he kept his relationship with Amalia secret. He also apologised for killing his son. Amalia and John got married and they had four children.William and Jane became husband and wife, too. And all of them lived happily ever after.

Lottery Challenge Destiny brought four different guys to the same cafe bar to watch a lotto game. The numbers were chosen and they all started screaming victoriously because they all won...somehow. They rushed to the lottery studio and started claiming their money. The manager showed up and told them that they had two choices: they can either share the money or participate in a series of challenges to see who deserved it the most. They couldn't decide what to do so the manager told them they had five minutes to make the decision or they would lose it all. Eventually, they decided to do the challenges. They were: running around Fifth Avenue in women's underwear, entering a dance competition on the street and going on a photo hunt.

Unfortunately, one of the guys got kidnapped and the others soon realised it. They went searching for him but, in the meanwhile, he befriended the mafia. After they found out about it, the guys went back to the lottery studio where they were told that none of them was going to win the money because the lottery didn't have any. They faked everything only to get bigger publicity.

Bad Mafia A group of Russian gangsters went to the USA to do a secret mission for a millionaire called Big T. They were all members of mafia and their names were: Vladimir (The Boss), Sasha (The Fat One), Vitaly (Big Brain) and Illja (The Clumsy One). When they arrived in America, they got a letter from Big T with the whole mission planned on paper. Their mission was to steal highly classified documents from the White House. They spent the first days in the USA pretending to be tourists. As they were exploring the beautiful culture of the USA, Vladimir was thinking about their mission. At 2 am they gathered near the White House. Everybody went to the planned place with a detailed map of the building.

Vitaly hacked the security system so that Sasha and Illja could enter through the air vent.Vladimir was distracting the guards by acting like a tourist.Sasha got stuck in the air vent while Vladimir was talking to the guards. Illja somehow managed to squeeze Sasha in. Vladimir beat up the guards and entered the White House. They were sneaking into the oval room. Someone suddenly activated the alarm and the police were on their way. The gangsters stole the documents they were looking for as soon as they found them and started to flee. Sasha stopped to grab some food as the others were running away. Illja fell through the window and the others fought their way to the back door. They all escaped and Big T paid them a lot for the documents. He could now deliver everything to the media. There was a smell of new elections in the air.

Two Brothers The story takes place in the Netherlands, in 1942. There were two brothers who fought on the German side in World War II. One of them survived and this is his story. They lived in Berlin when the war started. Suddenly they got a letter from the Army telling them that they had to go to the war. They were there for three years with some old and new friends. Some of them died very soon. One day their unit was walking through the woods when Hans stepped on the mine that was put there by the communists. Knรถdel was desperate because of his brother's death so he decided to leave the army secretly. He was running away when he fell into a communists' trap. Knรถdel was badly hurt but luckily he wasn't wearing a German uniform.

There was a Jewish man passing by and he saw the used trap. He went to see who was in there. At first he wasn't sure about helping Knรถdel, but finally he rescued him for he didn't know that he was a German soldier. The night was coming and Knรถdel was sure now that the other soldiers knew about his escape. He didn't tell the Jewish man (he later found out his name was Tom) that he was German. Instead, he said he was a communist. He said he got lost so Tom asked him to come with him. Tom didn't have a house or a place to stay as Knรถdel thought but they spend the night in the woods. While they were there, Knรถdel admitted that he was German.Tom wanted to shoot him but Knรถdel talked him out of it saying that he wasn't in the war by his will. He told him about his growing up in Berlin and about his brother.

Tom was from the Netherlands and the Nazis took his family away. They talked for hours and then fell asleep. The next morning Knรถdel came back to his unit afraid that they would kill him as a deserter. Three years later, when the war ended, he returned to a destroyed Berlin. He found out that his family was dead. They died in an ally bombing while he was on the battlefield. However, he also found out that Tom was still alive. They met again and told the stories to each other. Tom had been caught and taken to a concentration camp that he had hardly survived. Tom and Knรถdel became very good friends for life. In fact, they were like two brothers.

My Cartoon Hero  This is Pikachu. He is a cartoon character, but he is also in a game called Pokemon GO. I love him because he is really small and plump. His body is yellow with a tail that looks like storm. Everyone thinks he's cute and friendly, but he can sometimes be very dangerous. Pikachu really, really loves ketchup. He can win battles between two Pokemons and probably roast someone.

My Cartoon Hero My favourite cartoon movie character is Bolt. He is a white dog. He has got a lot of hair and one black flash on his back. He has got brown eyes and long ears. He is very helpful, strong and cute. He loves his owner and his friends. He also likes saving people. He can run very fast and he has a lot of power. I can’t stop watching the movie Bolt because it is fun. I still think he is real.

My Cartoon Hero He is SpongeBob SquarePants. He lives in the sea and he looks like yellow cheese. He hasn’t got any hair. He has got blue eyes. He is very funny and happy all the time. SpongeBob likes bubbles and his job at the restaurant. He can make silly faces and he also makes the best burgers. He is super.

My Cartoon Hero My favourite character is Bugs Bunny. He is a rabbit with grey and white fur. He's very clever and he always knows how to get out of trouble. He is also funny and he would do anything for a carrot. There is a hunter who is chasing him so he has to be very careful. But whatever happens, everything always turns out great. What else should I say? What's up, Doc?!

My Cartoon Hero Garfield is quite an interesting cat if you ask me. He is not ordinary in any way. He hates Mondays, but then again who doesn't. We have one thing in common, we both love lasagne. One day we will surely enjoy it together. Some people call him chubby, but like every other food lover, he can't look like a model. When it comes to his mind, he is a real cynic. He's often a bit cranky, but when he is in a good mood, you can be certain that lasagne is nearby. Why don't you stop by his house to meet him? If you're lucky, he'll give you a slice of lasagne.

My Cartoon Hero My favourite character is Sonic the Hedgehog. He is a superhero who saves the world. His only skill is his supersonic dash. He’s really fast. Sonic loves chili dogs. One of his greatest enemies is Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic and Shadow fight but Shadow did help Sonic save the world once. His only weakness is that he can't swim. He hates the word ‘slow’ and likes breakdancing and music.

My Cartoon Hero He is from my favourite show The Simpsons. Not to be mean, but he’s kinda dumb. That’s what I like about him- his dumbness. He likes donuts best. He has two daughters and a son (their names are Lisa, Maggie and Bart). Lisa is a brainiac in the family while Bart follows Homer’s footsteps. Maggie is a very intelligent baby. Homer works at the nuclear plant. He is very funny- you just need to see him and everything will be clear to you. So enjoy!

My School Anecdote I was (and in a way still am) bad at adapting to a new environment. In the 5th grade it was just adapting to another floor, but still it was hard to remember where which class was. It was even harder to remember the schedule. One time I went to the toilet during class. When I was returning, I forgot in which class and classroom I was. I started panicking, but then I thought that probably it wasn't that hard to find the right classroom. I opened the first door I saw. I was pretty sure it was the right classroom, but it wasn’t. I shut the door and hoped that nobody noticed me. I was smarter at the next door. I leaned my ear on the door and hoped to recognize someone’s voice. After a few missed shots, I found my class. From that day on I go to the toilet only when I really have to.

My School Anecdote In the 8th grade I was presenting in front of class and, since the presentation was on a smartboard, the slides would change whenever you'd touch the screen (obviously). As I was presenting, I accidentally touched the screen and the slides changed. I tried to go a slide back but I couldn't so I 'ran' to the other side of the board and realized the slide actually went back to the previous one. Now this part is kinda hard to explain because I was panicking a little (I thought this wasn't really professional, you know) so I'm just going to skip it and go straight to the point. I bumped into the board and yelled a curse word out loud, apologising to the teacher afterwards. I never felt dumber in my life, honestly.

My School Anecdote It happened last year. As usual, during the break time in school I was going towards the class. Everything was just fine, until my clumsiness interfered. Someone dropped their bag in front of me and I didn’t see it on time so I fell over the bag. I got up as quickly as it was possible so no one would notice. It was too late. I fell in front of the fifth graders and they weren’t laughing at me but staring at me which was also pretty embarrassing. When I got up, I tried to get to the class as fast as I could, hoping no one would remember it.

My School Anecdote One of my character traits is that I am dramatic. Once in the third grade we were doing a science test. I prepared for it days in advance. The test was given to me and I didn't know any answers to any questions. I immediately started to cry. My teacher told me to calm down and answer what I knew. I did that while crying and shaking with fear. As anyone would, I tried to cheat but I couldn't find anybody with the same questions. Thirty-five minutes into the test I got up and walked to my teacher to ask her a question. She saw that the whole time I was doing the test made for the fourth-graders. Since that day she calls me the drama queen. Even some of my classmates still call me that in situations when I overreact.

My School Anecdote When I was in the fifth grade, I had a reoccurring problem of my shoelaces getting untied. I never really bothered to tie them up, so many of my teachers would get angry and warn me that untied shoelaces were a potential hazard for me and my peers. Though my teachers were serious, I took it lightheartedly and was always too lazy to do it. Until one day, that is, when my carelessness finally got the best of me. It all happened during the break in the busy school corridor. Someone accidentally stepped on my shoelace and I tripped. Unfortunately, some of the teachers were passing by just as it was happening and, of course, it made the scene even more embarrassing. From that day on, I always tie my shoes.
