How Your Gift Will Be Used Mimi’s Cafe (1) Mimi’s is going to be expanded to triple its seating capacity. We would like to furnish our popular student cafe with robust, stylish furniture and a high!tech display screen for communication, creating a vibrant space for more students to enjoy their lunch and breaks. With your help, we aim to raise £10K to create a much improved eating environment for our students. New Macs For Old (2) The Apple Mac Suite is essential for music students from Year 7 upwards and we are proud that all Borlasians experience using this system. The current Macs are almost 10 years old and desperately need replacing so our pupils can continue developing their skills in creative media, film, news!editing and music composition. With your help, we aim to raise £20K to have a new, upgraded suite and ensure these opportunities continue. Loving Literacy (Library) (3) Thanks to you the library has become a bright, stimulating space where Key Stage 3 pupils enjoy literacy hour and all pupils can study independently or meet with academic societies. We now need more books to enhance learning across the curriculum ! fiction, careers, science, history, biographies and subscriptions to specialist periodicals to keep fostering a love of reading. With your help we aim to raise £3K to enhance our LRC resources. Where The School Needs It Most (4) Unrestricted gifts (gifts not donated to a specific project), are very important as they give the school the flexibility to use the philanthropic support where it is needed most. The headmaster and governors will ensure your gift provides the maximum benefit our students. With your help, we can provide support where it’s needed most.

Questions and Answers What is the Above and Beyond Fund?
The Above and Beyond Fund runs every academic year to raise income for projects of immediate need for students around the school. This is the fourth year of the fund and the projects funded will enhance and broaden the life and educational experience of the students at Borlase.
Why does Borlase need to raise funds?
It is needed more than ever from 2015, as Government funding for sixth form is to be cut by 20%, putting pressure on school resources. Borlase has no endowment fund, but as an academy we believe that the education we deliver rivals that of many independent schools and we wish this to continue. Some of our facilities need new investment in order for us to maintain the high standard of education we offer.
Who supports the Above and Beyond Fund?
We accept support from anyone: parents, grandparents, Old Borlasians, governors, trusts and companies. Therefore we look to the Borlase community to invest in the future of our students. All support is greatly valued – no matter what the size of the gift. Together we can make a huge difference: to develop all our young students to enjoy a successful and worthwhile future.
How can I support?
You can choose either to give a one-off donation or make a regular donation. We currently accept cheques and standing orders. Please complete the donation form attached or call the Development Office (number below).
