The Mad Hungarian™ relied on a blazing fastball to make him one of the most effective relievers of the 1970’s. Hrabosky was named “The Sporting News National League Fireman of the Year in 1975 with St. Louis with a 13-3 record, 1.67 ERA, and 22 saves. In December of 1977, Hrabosky became a Kansas City Royal and helped them win the American League Western Division Championship. After the 1979 season, he signed with the Atlanta Braves and played with them until retiring after the 1982 season. During Hrabosky’s career, he managed to compile 97 saves. In 2003, he was inducted into the Missouri Sports’ Hall of Fame. Hrabosky can now be heard calling the St. Louis Cardinals games for Fox Sports Net.
