We hope you have all remained well and safe throughout the glorious summer months. This is now our 8th season since the start of the pandemic (including two online lockdown seasons!) and we once again hope that there will be many performances, exhibitions and courses throughout the autumn that you will wish to attend.
We look forward to seeing you here at Phillips Street – elsewhere –and at our Christmas show in December.
Take good care and stay safe. With best wishes
Blues legend Roy Book Binder makes a welcome return to our stage in September, and our 18th Human Rights Festival will bring a week of compelling and thought-provoking documentaries in October. Do ensure that you also book early for our seventh Community Christmas production: a curious, but fantastical, adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic tales of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (see pages 34 - 35).
Our audience capacity returned to the full 250 on Monday 25 April and Jersey Arts Centre remains committed to following all Government of Jersey guidelines in order to keep everyone safe and well.
Contained within these pages is our autumn season as it currently stands though, as you can imagine, it may be a little in flux with changes still sometimes happening. We will update this brochure online when these changes occur, so do keep checking our programme of performances, exhibitions, courses and workshops on the website!

8PM Roy has the goods: the original, the bare-knuckle, the low-down… blues. Who can say they were friends with the Rev. Gary Davis, Pink Anderson and Robert Lockwood? And toured with Arthur Big Boy Crudup, Hot Tuna, JJ Cale and Bonnie Raitt? Roy can. He has the stories, the licks, and the mystery of timeless music in his fingers. He’s been featured on a PBS Special and interviewed by Terry Gross on “Fresh Air”. He’s also a regular at Fur Peace Ranch, where he teaches along with Jorma Kaukonen. When he brings his ‘Tour Bus’ to town, a one-man-blues fest ensues. He plays and he entertains, feeding us music and stories, and the evening is a celebration for us all. We’re privileged to have Roy here to preserve – and extend – the tradition of great American blues music.

Full of dark humour and deadpan comedy, this film portrays the uncomfortable realisations around the quest for the masculine ideal.

Jersey Youth Performing Arts present an original musical adaptation of the greatest love story ever told, Romeo and Juliet. Featuring songs from bands as diverse as The Black Eyed Peas, T. Rex and The Offspring, and with fight scenes choreographed by British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat Fight Master, Philip D’Orleans, this promises to be a thrilling production.
So, strap yourselves in; it’s going to be three very bumpy rides. Contains adult themes, strong language.
As everyone knows, these three joyful occasions can sometimes be the only times that all (or, at least most) of the members and generations of a family make the journey from the four corners of the circular globe to come together in one place for a shindig. As such, they are an emotional cauldron in which ancient grievances, imagined slights, generational differences and dissatisfaction with the catering bubble to the surface and erupt in the most spectacular fashion.
ACT presents a trilogy of original one act plays, each directed by a different member of ArtsCentreTheatre; linked but separate, each featuring members of the same family at three significant moments in their lives: a birth, a wedding (just the one) and a funeral.

Featuring Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman in their film debuts, as well as all-star supporting cast including Sean Penn, Tom Waits and Bradley Cooper, Licorice Pizza tells the story of Alana and Gary; two people navigating through young love in the San Fernando Valley in 1973.
This epic Western drama starring Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins and Julia Ormond follows the story of the Ludlow family who live in a remote part of Montana in the early 20th century. The lives of Colonel William Ludlow and his three sons, Tristan, Alfred and Samuel are shaped by nature, history, war and love in this beautifully shot modern classic.

Poems about birth, death, and life in-between, often consider the connections and foibles of family. Sometimes writing about family helps us to understand them, or it’s a way of remembering.
Perhaps you will imagine a new ‘Thrutopia’, recall a significant weather event, or just find the words to celebrate our seasons.
The weather has always been a popular subject in poetry:
