Clay Creatures with Wendy Brigden Friday 8 July 10.30am-12.30pm (Code JP-01) and 1.30pm-3.30pm (Code JP-02) Students will make creatures using artist-quality air drying clay, which allows completed artworks to be taken home at the end of the session. Students can choose to make fantasy creatures such as dragons or mermaids, native animals or even a loved pet. Bring a small box/ice cream container to take work home. Manga Self Portrait with Sandra McArthur Monday 11 July 10.30am-12.30pm (Code JP-03) Students will learn how to draw themselves as a manga character. Emphasis will be on creating different facial expressions and moods.

Chibi Animals with Sandra McArthur Monday 11 July 1.30pm-3.30pm (Code JP-04) A fun class where students will learn how to draw ‘chibis’, a Japanese animation featuring small, endearing people and animals. Big eyes and heads are characteristics of a Chibi and this class will learn how to create animals in this popular style of drawing. Wire Bonsai with Vanja Zetovic Tuesday 12 July 10.30am-12.30pm (Code JP-02) Students will create mini bonsai trees from twisted wire adorned with beads. The trees will be inspired by the ancient black pines in the Edogawa Commemorative Garden.

Colourful Weaving with Vanja Zetovic Tuesday 12 July 1.30pm-3.30pm (Code JP-06) Students will use a pre-warped loom and simple weaving techniques to create a wall hanging. Students will learn to weave using colourful and textured yarn and fabric. Beads will also be used to embellish the final woven creation. Australian Landscapes with Sandy James Thursday 14 July 10.30am-12.30pm (Code JP-07) Students will consider the modern art movement of the Fauves, in particular the art of Vasily Kandinsky and Franz Marc. Students will then create colourful Australian landscapes inspired by the

modern art movement. Students are advised to dress appropriately for this painting class. Blue Dog / Red Dog with Sandy James Thursday 14 July 1.30pm-3.30pm (Code JP-08) Artist George Rodriguez made Blue Dog famous by repeatedly painting him in different scenes. Students will follow his style and replicate Blue Dog or even Red Dog, made famous by the 2011 Australian movie of the same name. Students are advised to dress appropriately for this painting class. WORKSHOP PRI CE All workshops cost $25 (including materials) and are suitable for ages 6-15.


FR E E HO LIDAY ACT IVITIES

Free Drawing in the Garden A free art activity for budding artists. Completed artworks can be entered into the Gallery’s Drawing In The Garden Art Competition. Age prize winners will receive a certificate and award. Entries close 14 July and artworks will be exhibited in the Garden Tea House from 16-17 July. Free Activities in the Foyer Daily 10am-4pm Decorate your own boomerang or create a colourful native animal. Suitable for all ages. Stories at the Gallery Wednesday 6 July 10.30am-11.30am. This free event will feature Indigenous stories from Gosford Library’s book collection and includes a craft activity. Bookings for this storytime: www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/libraries

CONDI TI ONS OF E NROLM ENT The minimum class size is five students. Classes will be cancelled if there are insufficient students. Should cancellation be necessary, you will be notified by phone as early as possible prior to class commencement and a refund will be issued. Gosford Regional Gallery reserves the right to change tutors, class times, venue and structure, or to reduce the length of the class if there are insufficient numbers. Unruly behaviour by children in classes is unacceptable. Gosford Regional Gallery reserves the right to refuse enrolment should such circumstances arise. Refunds are not possible if less than 48 hours cancellation notice is given.
