EXHIBITION PROGRAM 2015

Haiku

7 February to 22 March Main Gallery Haiku is an interdisciplinary installation by local artist Yantra de Vilder whose work encompasses music and visuals for film, dance and theatre. Haiku is designed as an honouring to the fragile ecology of nature and human life. This contemporary work is an intersection of ancient and modern, immersed in the traditional forms of haiku, butoh and eastern music modal systems. It fuses a number of arts practices - dance, music, poetry, costume and video art, in a natural setting with media sourced from Edogawa in Japan, Japanese Gardens in Paris and the Gallery’s own Gosford/Edogawa Japanese Garden. Haiku is a celebration of the sister city relationship between Gosford and Edogawa, Japan. Image above: still from Haiku: directed by Yantra de Vilder, featuring Kathryn Puie (dancer), Lisa Haymes (photographer) and Ren Yano (Calligrapher/Artist).

the other shore is where imagination resides and mysteries of the sea’s littoral zone are hidden. This exhibition of new work includes prints from hand-rendered plates using traditional etching and contemporary gravure techniques. Matkevich combines direct drawing and camera images to build the core of each image. The finished works are hand coloured and presented as ‘artist’s proofs’.

A Central Vision

A Central Vision is an annual element of the Gallery’s exhibition program celebrating the achievements of Central Coast Secondary Public Schools within the visual arts arena. Last year 64 artworks were selected from more than 300 entries from the 15 participating Central Coast high schools.

Giving Voice: The Art of Dissent

EXHIBITION PROGRAM 2015

Emerging

Main Gallery: 18 July to 6 September Through the biennial Emerging competition, Gosford Regional Gallery demonstrates its commitment to providing opportunities for young artists. 2015 is the seventh time the competition has been held. Emerging continues to be a vibrant part of the Gallery’s exhibition program which offers young artists real opportunities to develop their practice. It also establishes a regional presence for the exhibiting artists and exposes the Central Coast to innovative work. Artists aged 18 to 30 from across New South Wales are invited to submit an entire body of work or installation for consideration. Eight finalists are selected who represent excellence in their chosen areas. This results in a vibrant and challenging annual exhibition. Submissions are invited from NSW artists working in any visual art medium to present a body of work for this year’s Emerging exhibition. Submissions need to be lodged with Gosford Regional Gallery by 29 March 2015. See www.gosfordregionalgallery.com for full details.
