Message From Headquarters Dear reader, One of Mexico’s most enticing double destinations is that of Vallarta-Nayarit, a coastal area covered by lush palm-covered mountains. The sparkling blue Bahia de Banderas and Vallarta attract millions that flock each year to laze on the glaring sandy beaches, grub in the stylish restaurants, stroll by the zany shops, and wander the picturesque downtown streets and enticing promenade. There are activities aplenty for all and these include boat trips, horseback rides, diving trips, golf, and much more. Puerto Vallarta's unrelenting growth has moved northward into neighboring Nayarit. With 185 miles of coastline, the Riviera Nayarit offers dazzling geography, biodiversity and entertainment; this spectacular diversity is due to the clashing of jungle and tundra habitats. Small coveted surf spots dot the coastline, including the beginners break. Next door, chic Punta de Mita sets the gold standard for fine accommodations and fun activities. Stately vistas, world-class golf courses, a thriving sailing community, and electrifying adventure sports round out this gentle and rich slice of Mexico. Come and enjoy some fun in the sun, margarita in hand.

Sincerely, Jose-Manuel (Manolo) GARCIA, CIS, CMS, CCM Second Generation, Innovator & President

INTERNATIONAL SPORT CHAMPIONSHIPS TAKE PLACE IN PUERTO VALLARTA & RIVIERA NAYARIT

The 2018 North American Optimist Championship has been added to the multiple international sport activities that take place in Puerto Vallarta & Riviera Nayarit. This global event, programmed to take place from June 4-July 1, 2018, expects to receive 180 kids and teenager participants from 22 countries. This event is one of seven continental championships held around the world for Optimist Sailing, and it has the backing of the Mexican Sailing Federation (FMV, by its acronym in Spanish), the endorsement of the IODA, and the World Sailing Federation. The championship is open to athletes from North America, South America and the Caribbean, namely boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 15 who have been chosen by their respective associations. Another six non-U.S. groups may also be invited based on qualifying criteria obtained during last year’s world championship. Recent competitions included teams from Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Japan, Germany, Singapore, and Greece. The Riviera Nayarit has hosted several international championships in the past few years, among them: the 2007 Optinam, the 2007 J24 World Cup, the 2011 PanAmerican Games, the 2013 National Sailing Olympics, and most recently, the Laser World Championships, just to mention a few. Every year the Vallarta Yacht Club hosts the WesMex International Regatta, one of the most prestigious regattas in Mexico. Between 150 and 600 athletes attend each event.

HOTEL MOUSAI, ONE OF THE MOST SELECT AND ELEGANT ONES IN THE MEXICAN PACIFIC

All-inclusive perks are abundant in this Vallarta property, ranging from unlimited alcoholic beverages and meals at one of three on-site restaurants (a few more are housed in the hotel's neighboring sister property, Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa, and are included in the all-inclusive package). Travel Tip: Finding Good Eats Sometimes eating on the road means dining in unfamiliar surroundings, at odd hours, on overcooked food, and with limited choices. For this reason I take breakfast bars, granola bars, dried fruit, and other easy to pack foods that don’t require refrigeration. I hope the road food tips in this section help you improve those less-than-ideal meals and expand your choices. • Ask the front desk or concierge at your hotel. • Ask shopkeepers where they eat (not which restaurants they

recommend). • Inexpensive vegetarian restaurants can often be found near college campuses. • If a restaurant looks interesting, but you are not sure how good it will be, wait outside and ask those who are leaving about the meal. I went to a restaurant. It said, ‘Breakfast anytime.’ So I ordered French toast during the Renaissance.| (Taken from page 185) James Feldman, (a.k.a.
