Your child’s first dental Visit Must be Fun! Your child will have the best health results when you arrange a visit with a dentist after the first tooth appears and no later than your child's first birthday. These evaluations will usually be done in the comfort of a parent's lap. - Make sure your child is well rested - Never discuss any negative experiences with them or use fearful words like shot, drill or hurt. - Always keep it fun!
At Dr. Streeby’s, our team knows how to make your child's visit all about fun to create a great memory. Call Today to Schedule an Appointment !

SANDY wilson Human Resources Director, Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council-From Follower to Leader
Maureen O’Toole
1. What is your general background & connection to Girl Scouts? For 31 years, Sandy has been the welcoming smile, open ear and gentle hug that encourage employees and volunteers for Girl Scouts of Silver Sage. Don’t let her diminutive size fool you; Sandy has a heart as big as the Girl Scout Council. A shy girl,

emotional connection to the people who are committed to helping girls grow. Now Sandy’s transformed from follower to leader, serving as the Human Resources Director for an organization that covers 77,000 square miles.
Now Sandy’s transformed from follower to leader, serving as the Human Resource Director Sandy started with the council in 1983, fresh out of high school. She came to volunteer and the staff quickly saw her potential and hired her. Sandy was a perfect fit for the receptionist with her friendly demeanor and customer-focused approach.
Timid as a child, Sandy says that thanks to her experiences with Girl Scouts as a girl and then as a young adult, she gained the confidence and business skills to move her to a senior level in the council. Does Girl Scouts build “girls of courage, confidence and character?” Sandy is a living testament to the Girl Scout mission! An avid fan of the outdoors, Sandy often rides to work in leathers on her motor cycle and spends weekends exploring the outdoors with her husband, children and grandchild. Sandy exudes the quiet confidence of someone who has found her way to professional success and joy in her job thanks to mentors in Girl Scouts who believed in her and helped her grow her skills. “Having people who believe in you is
priceless,” Sandy shared. And now Sandy works to help her family and friends and the employees of Silver Sage become the best version of themselves.
Older girls who stay in fully understand the benefits of Girls Scouts and become women who accomplish their goals. These are the leaders of today and tomorrow.
2. What is a personal experience they remember that epitomizes their view/love for Girl Scouts?
Sandy watched little girls grow up in scouts and become empowered to be strong women. These girls became successful women who actively mentor and guide younger girls and often become Girl Scout volunteers.
Sandy, who knits as a hobby, sees how her work knits together generations. After three decades of seeing volunteers and girls grow, Sandy is certain that “Girl Scouts transforms girls into leaders.”
3. What do you see happening in Girl Scouts that you love?
A native of Idaho, Sandy loves watching Girl Scouts become leaders in the Idaho community. “People are seeing how we truly grow leaders, that we’re not the stereotyped of “cookies, camp and crafts.”
Sandy would love to hear people say, “I read about a girl who’s going to Africa with Girl Scouts!’ People realize that our girls really are making a difference in the community, have international travel opportunities and develop life-long leadership skills. And Sandy is energized about the people working at the council to support girls and volunteers.
“We have brought on some really high energy, energized employees. As the HR manager, I am excited at where we’re going to do even more for the girls, volunteers and the council community.”
4. What would you like to see more of in Girl Scouts? Sandy sees the impact of this on her life, the girls and adults who work with girls and even the greater world. Change your view and change your world. Because of the national and international travel programs for older girls, Sandy has seen how the girls return with a new perspective and she wishes more girls would grab this opportunity and make the most of it. Traveling in a safe, structured
environment with Girl Scouts from across the US builds confidence, courage new friendships, bringing a national and international flavor to the council. Sandy would love to hear people say, “I read about a girl who’s going to Africa with Girl Scouts!” For girls in the council, international travel is a life-
changing chance. And how long will Sandy stay with Girl Scouts? Another 31 years? Sandy can answer that question. With the chance every day to make a positive impact on the lives of girls, “Why would I go anywhere else?”
THE BENEFITS OF
Inter-generational
relationships in Your Child’s Life
Kinsights Co-founder/Parenting Expert Jennifer Chung Shares Why It’s Important For Children To Interact With Older Generations: Inter-generational relationships are a new activity. Where a child might be standoffish to their parent, they are great way for children to get a sense more willing to listen to relatives and of history, context, and perspective. less likely to talk back. More than ever, parents are living in communities without relatives nearby, so creating an environment where your child is consistently interacting with other adults is challenging. Lean on your friends! While your friends with kids of similar age are always great (especially for playdates and group activities), don’t forget your friends that don’t have children or have older children. Our friends with teenage children are eager to spend time with our son (who is only 3), since they enjoy a taste of those early years. They bring a unique level of energy and enthusiasm, and since

these are experienced, seasoned parents, I’ve learned a tremendous amount about parenting from them. And their teenage children have become an integral part of our son’s life – they come over for holidays, birthdays, weekends, as though they are part of the family. I have friend’s who have grown up celebrating milestones and holidays with other families who would now say those people have become closer than relatives. They know they could call them at any time of the day and that they would respond in such a way where they would do absolutely anything for them.

Having children interact with adults other than their parents and teachers can help encourage social ease and confidence. And this can pay off in many ways. There are the practical benefits–for example, when high schoolers are interviewing for college or trying to get an internship. But its much more than that – it allows your child to get exposed to and learn from a broader range of people. It also helps build an appreciation for the past. As a parent, stories about your younger years can get old really
fast, but hearing stories from a diverse range of adults gives your child unique insights into history. Kids are also quick to turn a deaf ear to parents and their wisdom, however, an adult friend could give the exact same advice and the teenager would consider it the best advice they have ever heard.
“it allows your child to get exposed to and learn from a broader range of people.”

Ultimately, it is important for kids to respect, trust and learn from adults of all kinds. As soon as we learn that we, as parents, cannot be all things to our children, the better. Introducing them to a variety of cultures, adults, insights and opinions will develop strong, confident, well-adjusted children and, eventually, adults.
