Credentialed Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor Program (CASAC) CONTINUED
The MICA Patient This course covers the treatment of substance abuse, alcoholism and mental illness of the Mentally Ill Chemically Addicted (MICA) patient. 35 hours. T & Th 6:00pm to 9:30pm 5/10-6/9/11 ACE 2021-SP01 35 hrs. 10 sessions $395
Medical, Biological, Physiological & Pharmacological Aspects of Substance Abuse and Alcoholism Investigate the physical effects of alcoholism and substance abuse on the human body including fetal alcohol effect, STD and HIV. 35 hours. M & W 6:00pm to 9:30pm 5/2-6/6/11 ACE 2003-SP01 35 hrs. 10 sessions $395
Elements and Techniques of Counseling (Individual) Part A Examine the various theories, modalities and techniques used in the field of addiction and the theoretical rationale for counseling. 35 hours. T & Th 6:00pm to 9:30pm 6/14-7/14/11 ACE 2005-SU01 35 hrs. 10 sessions $395
Elements and Techniques of Counseling (Group) Part B Focus on group counseling, the ethics and professional responsibilities in the treatment of groups, couples, and families. Transference and countertransference will be discussed. 35 hours. T & Th 6:00pm to 9:30pm 1/25-2/24/11 ACE 2007-SP01 35 hrs. 10 sessions $395
Drugs Other Than Alcohol Delve into all the other drugs, both legal and illegal that are abused, and how treatment of these addicts differ from treatment of alcoholism. 35 hours. M & W 6:00pm to 9:30pm 1/3-2/7/11 ACE 2011-SP01 35 hrs. 10 sessions $395
CASAC Internship The internship will provide hands-on experience in an OASAS Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment facility. Students can acquire up to 2000 work experience hours. Students must have a minimum of a High School diploma or GED certificate and have successfully completed 6 courses (210 Educational Hours) towards their CASAC certification.
PLEASE NOTE: There are eleven courses listed here. Each course is worth 35 clock hours. 350 hours are required to sit for the CASAC exam.
