New Chamber officers elected The Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce recently elected the 2011 officers for the board of directors. David Ruggles, director of marketing for Maria Parham Medical Center, will assume the responsibilities of board chairman. Other newly elected Chamber officers include Catherine Hughes of Satterwhite Point Marina Inc., first vice-chairwoman and Hal Muetzel of Express Employment Professionals, second vice-chairman. Mel Manning of Harris Incorporated of Henderson will serve as treasurer and Vanessa Jones, Vance-Granville Community College vice president of community and economic development, will serve as immediate past chairwoman. Kathy Brown of P&G Pet Care, Gina DeMent of Five County Mental Health Authority, Dave Genetti of Toyota/Scion of Henderson and Curtis Tyndall of BB&T were all added as new board members. Ex-officio board members include Dennis Tharrington, chairman, Henderson-Vance Partnership; Eddie Wright, chairman, Vance County Board of Commissioners; the director of the HendersonVance Economic Development Commission; Phil Lakernick, director, Henderson-Vance Downtown Development Commission; Randy Parker, president, Vance-Granville Community College; Pete O’Geary, mayor, City of Henderson; Norman Shearin, superintendent, Vance County Schools and Bob Singletary, president and chief executive officer, Maria Parham Medical Center. All new, existing and outgoing Chamber officers and directors were recognized during the Chamber’s 2011 annual Membership Meeting and Banquet on Feb. 8 at the Vance-Granville Community College Civic Center.
