Dream Vacation: going in a spaceship to Mars to explore another world Tell Us About Your Position as the Vice President of Student Government: From my student position as Multicultural Program Coordinator, I learned a lot about event programming, coordinating, and team management and wanted to springboard from there into a new position where I could grow even more. As Vice President of Student Government, I help the Student Senate with their personal and professional development so that they can be empowered to make decisions that shape and influence student culture and campus community at Lane. We are working on several campaigns and one in particular is promoting intercultural competence through a policy that would require instructors to receive training about how to effectively engage with students of diverse backgrounds while keeping the classroom welcoming and safe. IESL Students If you are currently in Oral Skills 7 and Reading/Writing 7 and planning to transition to the college-level program in Winter 2013, remember to take the placement test before coming to the advising & registration session on Friday, January 7th at 9:00 AM. There will be changes to the end of term registration process. Further instructions will be given by your instructors in the near future. Remember to pay your bill and update your address/phone/email information on MyLane or you will not be able to register for next term! Don’t Lose the Winter Classes You’ve Registered For! The Registration Payment Deadline for fall term charges is Thursday, November 29th at 11:59 p.m. Make sure to check your bill on MyLane and pay any outstanding balances before then – even if it’s a library fine or parking citation. If you have a fall term balance and don’t pay it by this date, then all of the winter classes that you’ve registered for will be dropped!

DID YOU KNOW? On the Road Do you drive in Oregon? Remember that in order to drive, you must have an Oregon Driver’s License, not your home country driver’s license or an international driver’s permit. It’s important to keep your Oregon driver’s license, car insurance information and car registration with you at all times when you drive – if you ever get pulled over by the police for speeding or any other reason and you don’t have these with you, you could pay a huge fine or have to go to court.
