The Hafren

Venue in Newtown, Mid Wales with 548 Seats serving Montgomeryshire with a massive variety for everybody. Also the home of the YFCs, Mid Wales Opera and Ysgol Theatr Maldwyn Opened in 1982, Hafren is situated on Llanidloes Road, Newtown and has been providing top-class entertainment and a venue for local amateur groups for over 25 years. We attract some of the best performers to our stage and act as a valuable facility for organisations such as The Young Farmers Federation, Newtown Musical Theatre Company and the Urdd to name just a few. Hafren has a seating capacity of 550, making it the largest venue in Powys and puts on a massive variety of live performance from Kids Shows, Folk, Drama, Choirs, Brass Bands and Orchestras through to Top Class Comedy and Pop Acts - in fact anything and everything! The theatre is also available for hire so if you have an event that you want to put on, give us a shout!
