What an exciting time to join HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and the Live at Rose Lehrman Artist Series!

I am thrilled to be taking the lead in creating the future of this dynamic resource in Central Pennsylvania. In addition, I am happy to announce the diverse and creative 2017-18 season. We will launch the year with the three-time Grammy Award-winning Native American artist Bill Miller for a breathtakingly beautiful performance. Next, please join us for the boundary-breaking shadow dance company Catapult. Cherish the Ladies will bring the warmth of the holiday season with their Celtic sounds. HACC’s spring semester will begin with a four-day residency featuring Lehrer Dance Company in their original, athletic style that combines modern and jazz inspiration. In celebration of Black History Month, we are thrilled to showcase The Mountaintop by L.A. Theatre Works, a fictitious work depicting Martin Luther King Jr.’s final day on earth. We will end the 2017-18 season by celebrating Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday with an outstanding chamber concert by Curtis on Tour, featuring some of Bernstein’s greatest works. Live at Rose Lehrman will now be offering reduced ticket pricing as well as a re-introduction of special pricing for students K-12. Also, we will continue to offer a great discount with our “Create Your Own” package for three or more shows. Please consider becoming a “Friend” of the Artist Series and take advantage of the many benefits (depending on donor level) including Friends First seating access, free tickets, concessions “bucks”, a VIP reception and the knowledge that you are helping to support quality art with a commitment to education and outreach in our community. I look forward to seeing you at the theatre!

L.A. THEATRE WORKS “THE MOUNTAINTOP” THURSDAY, FEB. 15, 2018 | 7:30 P.M. $28 Adults, $18 Students (K-12) and $10 HACC Students For Mature Audiences ONLY On the evening of April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated outside of Room 306 in The Lorraine Motel in Memphis. What happened inside Room 306 the night before the killing is a mystery. In her internationally acclaimed play, “The Mountaintop,” playwright Katori Hall fantasizes what may have transpired in the overnight hours between the legendary civil rights leader and a seemingly inconsequential hotel maid. Winner of the prestigious Olivier Award for Best New Play, “The Mountaintop” is overflowing with humor and political jabs. The play also gives us a glimpse at the human side of Martin Luther King Jr. hours after his famed final speech, punctuated by the immortal line, “I’ve been to the mountaintop.” The celebrated reverend reveals his hopes, regrets and fears, creating a masterful bridge between mortality and immortality. Special Event: A post-show talk back featuring the cast will take place immediately after the show followed by a reception hosted by HACC’s Office of Inclusion and Diversity. Please join us!
