Washington, DC Caps that Care Sarah worked with students at School Without Walls to make hats for patients dealing with hair loss from cancer. Working with the American Cancer Society, Sarah and her classmates knit hats to be donated.
Winchester, VA Noah’s Ark of Knowledge Danielle compiled articles and research for the creation of “Noah’s Ark of Knowledge,” a book about the care of domestic animals and interacting with wildlife.
Washington, DC Algebra Help Sarah incorporated tutoring sessions, algebra videos, and a mindset workshop to promote education within inner city public schools.
Alexandria, VA Bats Are Terrific (BAT): A Bat Habitat Improvement Project Erin conducted a bat population census and devised an experiment to assess habitat preferences to combat the spread of White Nose Syndrome.
Hagerstown, MD Preschool Puppetry Sarah enhanced preschooler’s literacy skills through puppetry at the school as well as at home. She also provided shelving for the classroom to build the preschooler’s organizational skills.
Herndon, VA Food Storage Facility Kendra built pallets and shelving for a new storage facility for the food pantry mission project of Community of Faith United Methodist Church.
Vienna, VA Electronic Inventory Control Cara inventoried and organized camp equipment and supplies for the Town of Vienna Parks & Recreation Department and created a permanent electronic inventory system using an Excel spreadsheet.
Alexandria, VA Organization: “At the Heart of the Community” Elizabeth created a volunteer program, At the Heart of the Community, for United Community Ministries. The project helped United more effectively organize their volunteers.
