Hopfgarten i. D. 1.107 m Vom Iseltal abgebogen, erreicht man nach einem kurzen Anstieg durch die Schwarzachklamm die Nationalparkgemeinde Hopfgarten. Zwischen der rauschenden Schwarzach und den ansteigenden Hängen reihen sich die Häuser eng aneinander. Oberhalb thronen die, in der gebirgigen Landschaft eingebetteten, Gehöfte. In den Sommermonaten sind diese mit farbprächtigen Blumentrögen geschmückt und tragen so zum unverkennbaren Ortsbild bei. Neben der imposanten Dorfkirche sind überall im Gemeindegebiet einzigartige Kapellen verteilt, die von den Bewohnern der angrenzenden Höfe errichtet wurden und bis heute von ihnen erhalten und gepflegt werden. In Hopfgarten findet man, wie kaum woanders, unberührte und ursprüngliche Natur. Unterwegs in den eindrucksvollen Gebirgszügen kann man sich unter anderem am Weg zu den Gipfeln auf die Spuren der Adler, Gämsen und der Murmeltiere begeben. Having turned off from Iseltal Valley you'll reach the first of the three municipalities of Defereggen Valley after a short climb through the Schwarzach Gorge with the national park community of Hopfgarten. Between the rushing Schwarzach River and the sloping hillsides, the houses are closely strung together. Above, the farmsteads picturesquely nestled among the mountainous scenery stand out, in the summer months they are adorned with colourful flower boxes thus contributing to the unmistakable appearance of the locality. Next to the stately village church, unique chapels are scattered all across the municipal area, which were erected by the inhabitants of the neighbouring farms and are also still preserved and maintained by them until this day. In Hopfgarten in Hohe Tauern National Park can be settled on, you'll find untouched and pristine nature here like hardly anywhere else. When out and about in the impressive mountain ranges, you may catch sight of eagles, chamois and marmots on the way to the summits of Riegel or Stanzling. Svoltando dalla Iseltal si raggiunge, dopo una breve salita passando per la gola Schwarzachklamm, il primo dei tre comuni, il comune del parco nazionale Hopfgarten. Tra il fiume fragoroso Schwarzach e i pendii in salita si snodano le casette, l’una accanto all’altra, in modo compatto. Sopra troneggiano i poderi incorporati in modo pittoresco nel paesaggio montuoso, nei mesi estivi sono decorati con colorate fioriere e contribuiscono a creare un’immagine inconfondibile del paese. Accanto all’imponente chiesa del paese sono distribuite in tutto il territorio comunale straordinarie cappelle, costruite un tempo dagli abitanti delle corti vicine e tutt'ora mantenute e ben curate. Il comune Hopfgarten, si trova, come in nessun altro posto del mondo una natura incontaminata e originale. In giro tra le suggestive vette ci si può imbattere, lungo il sentiero verso le cime di Riegel o Stanzling, sulle tracce di aquile, camosci e marmotte.
