This product is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. DANGER - Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electrocution. Check with a qualified electrician or service personnel if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the product - if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Do not use any type of adapter with this product.

GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER PROTECTION The CTV-1500 is provided with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) built into the power supply cord. This device provides additional protection from the risk of electrical shock. Should replacement of the cord or plug become necessary, use only identical replacement parts that include GFCI protection.

EXTENSION CORDS Use only 3-wire extension cords that have 3-prong grounding-type plugs and 3-pole cord connectors that accept the plug from the product. Use only extension cords that are intended for outdoor use. These extension cords are identified by a marking "Acceptable for use with outdoor appliances; store indoors while not in use." Use only extension cords having an electrical rating not less than the rating of the product. Do not use damaged extension cords. Examine extension cords before using and replace if damaged. Do not abuse extension cord and do not pull on any cord to disconnect. Keep cord away from heat and sharp edges. Always disconnect the extension cord from the receptacle before disconnecting the product from the extension cord. WARNING - To reduce the risk of electrocution, keep all connections dry and off the ground. Do not touch plug with wet hands. CAUTIONS 1.

Avoid exposing the machine to freezing temperatures. If the unit must be exposed to freezing conditions, follow the instructions under COLD WEATHER STORAGE.

2.

DO NOT RUN THE PUMP DRY FOR MORE THAN 15 SECONDS.

5.

Do not spray water onto the machine housing as serious damage can result, voiding the warranty.

ELECTRIC MOTOR The CTV-1500 utilizes an electric motor equipped with thermal overload protection. Should the motor overheat, the thermal overload will cut off power to the motor. The overload is automatically reset when the motor cools down sufficiently. ALWAYS DETERMINE AND CORRECT THE CAUSE OF THERMAL OVERLOAD BEFORE USING THE MACHINE AGAIN.

ADVANCED PREPARATION Allow the debris in the basin to settle for 24 to 48 hours before cleaning. Approximately 20 to 25 percent of the basin water will be discharged during the cleaning process. The basin water level can be raised before cleaning by adding make-up water to the basin. GETTING READY 1.

Locate the unit within 15 feet of the farthest area to be cleaned.

2.

Connect a clean water hose to the prime inlet fitting. Make sure the water filter is clean and in place. Consult the Goodway catalog for heavy-duty water supply hose (part # WSH-R50). Connect the inlet hose (see Figure #1 on page 4) (the one with the angled wand with ball valve) to the inlet fitting on the machine and the outlet hose to the outlet fitting.

3.

Secure the outlet hose to a grate, pipe, etc. to prevent it from whipping.

OPERATION 1.

Make sure the power switch is turned off.

2.

Plug the unit into a properly grounded outlet and reset the GFCI.

3.

Open the valve on the inlet hose

4.

Close the prime valve.

5.

Close the outlet valve.

6.

Turn on water supply to the garden hose.

7.

Submerge the tool under water in the cooling tower basin.

8.

Go back to the machine and open the small prime valve. Purge the air bubbles from the inlet hose.

9.

Do not prime with inlet valve close.

10. Turn the power switch on and immediately open the outlet valve on top of the machine and close the prime valve. The outlet flow can be controlled using the outlet valve. Adjust as needed. 11. Note the outlet water flow – it should slowly increase. If not, close the outlet valve and re-prime. 12. Clean the strainer basket after cleaning each cell. 13. Flush unit with clean water after each use.

14. When priming where the basin is below the vacuum, open the outlet valve completely and close the inlet valve. Turn prime valve on, when the outlet hose fills turn the unit on and open the inlet valve. Turn off prime valve when unit vacuums. 15. If hose expands and leaks when inlet valve is closed the prime valve is still open and THE INLET VALVE MUST BE OPENED IMMEDIATELY AND THE PRIME VALVE CLOSED.

RELOCATING MACHINE OR CHANGING CLEANING TOOL 1.

For short intervals, 15 minutes or less, the unit can remain on. Close the inlet valve, remove the wand and/or tool then resubmerge and open the valve.

2.

For longer than 15 minutes, close the inlet valve, turn off the power switch and relocate the machine or change tool. Repeat the priming process described above. COLD WEATHER STORAGE

Should the CTV-1500 need to be stored where freezing conditions may exist, turn the machine on end and open the outlet valve to drain the water from the machine. MAINTENANCE Periodically check the hoses, connections and other components for wear and replace as necessary. TROUBLESHOOTING Problem

Probable Causes

Remedy

Will not prime

Not enough air purged from inlet hose Leaking connections

Reprime

Will not pump or pumps slowly

CTV-1500 09/03

Tighten all connections including wand, extensions, hoses and tools. Make sure oring in strainer is in good condition and cover is tight. Look for leaks at plumbing joints.
