The Beacon of Light is a new vibrant centre of opportunity based in the North East. Its mission is to provide first-class sporting facilities alongside world class education and training opportunities for all. It will be a shining example of excellence motivating all to improve their lives. The Beacon was the vision of former SAFC Chairman Sir Bob Murray CBE and official club charity Foundation of Light, who over the last six years independently raised the £20m necessary to build it. Foundation of Light are one of the most successful sports and education charities in the UK. In the past 17 years, we’ve changed the lives of over 300,000 people in our community. The Beacon of Light is the first facility of its kind in the UK and will become an iconic building across the region.
This easily accessible venue will be a community hub for all – a motivating place that provides opportunities for young people and their families. Over 6,000 people per week are expected to pass through the Beacon of Light making it one of the busiest destinations in the region. We need like-minded individuals, businesses and supporters to come on board and ensure that we can do more.
