Public Examinations Rules and Information
When do my exams start?
For morning examinations, you should arrive at your venue at 8.50am for a prompt 9.00am start.
For afternoon examinations, you should arrive at your venue at 1.20pm for a prompt 1.30pm start.
You must be punctual. If you are late, the Examining Body reserves the right to refuse your paper.
As soon as you are shown into the examination room, you must be silent.
What should I bring?
You must bring only those articles, instruments or materials which are permitted for the subject being examined. You may not borrow from other students during the examination. All equipment you bring must be contained in a clear plastic bag or clear pencil case.
You must write in black biro pen. Gel pens are not allowed and ink pens such as fountain pens are likely to run if they get wet. Highlighter pens may be used to highlight details on the QUESTION paper, but MUST NOT be used on ANSWER papers.
Tippex or correcting fluid/correcting pens must not be used. Candidates should cross through work they do not wish to be marked.
The use of notes, papers and text books etc. are only allowed in certain exams and candidates will be informed by their subject teachers in advance.
You are allowed to bring WATER ONLY into the examination room. If you do so, the water must be in a clear container which has no label and no writing or print on the bottle. You are allowed to bring sweets into the exam room but they must be without any form of wrapping.
What shouldn’t I bring?
These items are strictly banned from exam rooms and should not be brought into the examination room under any circumstances:

Please note especially: WATCHES (OF ANY TYPE) ARE NOT ALLOWED IN ANY EXAM VENUES.
Possession of these unauthorised items is a serious offence and could result in DISQUALIFICATION from your examination and your overall qualification and further examinations for 2 years; this does include driving exams!
Please leave these items in House. If however, you forget and still have them on you, you will have to leave them outside of the venue before the start of an exam. HOWEVER, the school cannot be responsible for the security of these while the examination is in progress.
