Group Leaders are a cherished and integral part of the Felsted International Summer School community. As such, their expertise, participation and perspective are highly valued and their collaboration with summer school staff is crucial to the success of the program. The Summer School works to provide opportunities for this collaboration in a number of key ways. -

Whenever possible, group leaders will live together in a boarding house with their Group Leader Coordinator. A weekly Group Leader Meeting with the Director of Global Learning, Group Leader Coordinator, Academic Manager, Pastoral Manager, Operations Manager and Sports and Social Manager to review the week’s events including social events, excursions, rooming and recreation. Individual meetings the Assistant Director of Global Education as needed

We seek to provide various professional and cultural experiences for group leaders while they are in attendance with their students. To this end, we aim to coordinate a voluntary professional development session each week with group leaders (group leaders in attendance for more than two weeks will have a maximum of two professional development experiences) as well as a minimum of one group leader specific excursion per week to various cultural landmarks in the area. Group Leaders are held to the same standards of behaviour as all Felsted School Staff. As such, instances of discriminatory behaviour, bullying, aggression and all other forms of behaviour not in keeping with Felsted School’s code of conduct will not be tolerated. Discriminatory behaviour is defined here as any behaviour that causes an individual to feel disempowered, excluded or otherwise treated differently as a result of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil

partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. In the instance of reported discriminatory behaviour, an investigation will be opened. If, after an investigation has been conducted, the group leader in question has been found to be in violation of the school’s discriminatory behaviour policy, a formal warning will be issued with a member of HR present. If the behaviour persists, the group leader will be asked to return home immediately at the expense of their agency.
