EASTER IN GREECE

THE MOORS-CUSTOMS-TRADITION Â

The Greeks are Orthodox Christians. In Greece, we commemorate the resurrection of Christ. The procession of the body of Christ EPITAPHE walk in the street Good Friday

Easter for the Greeks is the party. The feast of love and everyone celebrates it with all their soul and with all their heart. Holy Week, everyone is engaged in feverish preparations.

Families go to church every evening, sing together and light candles that send their light to the sky.

• Every day of the holy week, we celebrate various events that are sourced from the life of Christ • Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday. The faithful go to the church to have the priest's hand a branch, symbol of the triumphal march of the messiah in Jerusalem. • The decoration of the church on Palm Sunday.

Holy Thursday We dye the eggs in red and we buy the lamb for the big "sacrifice"

On Holy Saturday, people are throwing petals. At Corfu Island on Good Friday, when the "Epitaphs" are strolled through the streets, locals throw pottery out the window for health and luck.

Holy Friday On the evening of FRIDAY HOLY, the "EPITAPHES" = THE PROCESSION OF THE BODY OF CHRIST, picturesque, artfully decorated by young girls in each neighborhood, are walked in the streets, in a silence gathered, to mourn the death of Christ.

We decorate the houses, we love each other more, we prepare huge quantities of treats.

But the joy breaks out on Holy Saturday, when the "Christos Anesti" (Christ is resurrected) sounds and the sky is illuminated by the brilliance of a thousand fireworks and the glow of a myriad of white candles. They bring the "new fire" home to have light in their lives. With the smoke of these candles the Greeks make a cross on the door of their house and will then eat the traditional soup "magiritsa".

And they continue the feast all day on Easter Sunday, roasting the lambs on the spit, crunching the red eggs, dancing lively and cheerful dances, which awaken in them the eternal flame of the Greek race.
