Introduction "If you go south by sea from that island, there is another great island that is called Dondun. On this island there are many different types of creatures... The king of this island is a great and mighty lord, and he owns fifty-four islands that all pay him tribute. And each of these islands has its own king, and everyone on the island must obey him. And the king has many creatures on these islands."
Blue-Tongued Jelly Achatoprocta porcinosa By Mònica Torner, Mireira Torres & Anke Zhang
On one of these islands, there are creatures that have an awful look and shape, and they have such a big upper lip, that when they sleep in the sun, it covers their entire face. The Blue-Tongued Jelly is as enormous as a dinosaur. At the top of its body we find an oddly-shaped head, and on the sides it has two pointed ears. At the bottom of its face we can see a very big eye. Its mouth, like a bottomless pit, contains two fangs and a dirty, yellowish tooth. Its tongue gets bigger as the creature gets older, and when it reaches an elderly age, its tongue can be as long as its body. At this age, it can wrap its tongue around its whole body, which is made of faeces. Furthermore, its legs come from its ancestors, who looked like frogs; two long and slim arms, and six frog legs. The mother monster gives birth to little Blue-Tongued Jellies through her long, blue tongue, and then, when they grow up, they live in a community full of other creatures of the same species. During the day, the community lives on a scary island, because they can’t live without sunlight. But at night, they go to deep underwater caves, as they can’t stay on the island because their main predators, who are called Woolly Chickens, attack during the night. They usually eat human trash and small dead animals. In addition, they creep, but they can also swim. Last but not least, they obviously need to communicate with others of their species, so they do it by moving their tongue in specific ways. Sometimes, they meet other communities and even other creatures. At the end of their lives (normally at around two-hundred years old) they desert their families and all the other creatures that they met throughout their lives in order to die.

And on another island there are small creatures that are dwarves. They are half the size of pigmies and they have no mouth. Instead, they have a little round hole, and when they eat or drink, they suck it through a pipe or a pen or something similar. They must suck what they eat and drink as they have no tongue; and therefore they make signs to each other as monkeys do in order to communicate, and by doing this they all understand each other. The Demomouse is a strange creature that comes from South Africa, and it was discovered in the 20th century. This animal looks like a goat but it is the size of a tiny mouse. But instead of having two eyes, it has three scary eyes. In addition, it has a very big nose and four short legs which it uses to run like a squirrel. These strange animals live in dry deserts or other arid areas. They hatch from their dads’ eggs which means that the male lays the eggs. They eat fluffy worms with a pipe. This animal sleeps during the day when the weather is warmer. Apart from that, the Demomouse can make sounds, although they communicate by moving their shiny tail. For instance, for the mating ceremony, the tails conjoin and light up in a bright pink light like candy floss. However, it gets scared of its predators like the horrible humans or the dangerous scorpions.

On another island there are beasts that walk on all fours. They have skin and feathers, and they can jump amongst the trees as if they were squirrels or apes. They can also fly. The creature is called the Flying Goblin, or goblin volator. They have an extremely strong human-like body with skin that is green like leaves. They also have a pointy nose and ears, as well as a pair of feathered wings that are black like coal. Another very interesting feature they possess is a tail with a razor-sharp end that only appears as they grow and it gets longer and longer with age. Males are bald and usually wear a brown Gucci loincloth. However, females have long, blonde hair, and wear a golden Chanel bikini. Both genders wear a pair of Adidas shoes. When it comes to its habitat, they live in the deep forest of the island, a habitat that has made them develop several distinct features from other goblin species. These include being able to walk on two legs, so they can see much further. They have also developed very good eyesight, so good in fact that they can see at night. However, they are not a nocturnal species, they just have this feature to be able to defend themselves from nocturnal predators. But one of the most interesting features they have developed is that they are herbivorous, in spite of the fact that goblins are predominantly carnivorous. Last but not least, regarding the way it communicates, it must be said that this is an intelligent creature that has its own developed language and society. Its society is divided into villages that are also divided into individual families. Each family has a common sleeping area to better defend themselves from predators at night.
Godofried Pigmies Godofry pigmaeus By Alexandra ArgemĂ, Pablo Blanco & Mario Boncompte
The river goes through the pigmies land, where the people are of short stature. When it comes to their body they look like two balls, with one above the other. Their face is obviously round, and they have curly brownish hair like an afro. On top of their hair there are two things; a bird's nest and two long antennae that help them speak and smell. They have a pair of huge round eyes which are littered with little veins, that are red like blood. They don’t have a nose and their scary mouth is sewed shut. They have a short neck that connects their head with their fat torso. Instead of two arms, they are born with four arms. A pair with crab pincers and a pair with sharp spiky wheels. They often wear a white shirt with three colourful buttons. In addition, they have four thick tentacles that help them move. The Godofried Pigmies are very uncommon and dangerous creatures. They only live in cold and dirty places. You could think they are all the same age because physically adults and children look the same but the younger ones aren't as dangerous. The Godofried Pigmies are born from the ground, just like carrots, and once they turn one year old they start living inside the trees, just like the elderly pigmies. Due to living there, they eat tough wood and birds mostly. But apart from that they can eat whatever they want, including weak humans. However, they eat through their tentacles which also help them move. It looks like they are swimming in the air. They sleep like unicorns, which is to say they never sleep. Last but not least, referring to the way they communicate, they do it thanks to the birds in their hair as their mouth is sewed shut. Also, Many Godofried Pigmies suffer from having a swollen mouth, which is an after-effect of those who cry at birth. However, they don’t communicate with anybody that isn’t a Godofried. Furthermore, they don’t have any predators because no one dares to attack them because in spite of being short, they are killers. Their body may be round like the moon, but they have a burningly fearsome attitude like the sun.

These diminutive creatures live in small cities that were made in the middle of the big forest. These creatures have very characteristic green skin and they have short arms and short legs. They look old from birth. They’re born without hair, and they never grow hair in their entire life. These creatures hatch from eggs, and they usually live six or seven years. They feed on bird meat that they hunt. They worship the plants and nature. As a hobby, they ride rats and they do competitions around the cities. They compete to win in the rat races. They live in families, normally with seven or eight people. The youngest creatures learn to communicate from birth. They don’t go to school, but they learn to work in their houses. These creatures live very happily and they're always in a good mood. Apart from that, they cry if you offend them. At the same time , they're not aggressive, but if they don’t like other creatures, they will attack them to defend their land.

And on another island, the people who live there are very strange. Their upper lip is so big, that when they sleep in the sun it covers their entire face. When you look at them you can see how skinny they are. They have more body parts than humans, exactly 8 parts in total. This includes four arms and two legs. Its nails are like sharp knives. Apart from that we can see that they are very tall. They have so many scars that they look like they have been to a war. There is only one difference between the children and the adults, that is their size. Surprisingly, they aren't born like humans. They actually hatch from eggs. Regarding their diet, they eat using their big mouth and they eat human beings. They sleep in the trees and they are also really dozy creatures, so they sleep very often. From what we know, they can walk. They have a strange way of communicating that is by making sounds. On the one hand, they never cry but on the other hand, they laugh really loud. This creature only has one fear, which is water. They have a social problem, they hardly ever socialise so they don't have any social rules. They have such a scary look that they don't have any predators but not all species are scared of them. Last but not least, they live in a forest but not in just any forest. The forest mustn't be too wet and the trees must be tall, the bigger the better. When it comes to their lifestyle, they live on their own because as we said before, they aren't social creatures, not even with their own species.

If you go to the east of the sea, you will find islands of a great country and a great kingdom called Mancy or Ian. And it is the best land and one of the most beautiful in the world, and the most delicious and plagued of all the goods in the world are found there. In this place, there are many strange creatures as big as cats which are called Lil Murcya. They look like heads that walk, so you will be very scared if you see them. On top of their head they have a sharp fin surrounded by gold chains. On their sides they have wings, and they have a heavy beard and two legs that look like those of a crab. Finally, they have a very large scar in the middle of their face. They live on the beach and sometimes they swim in the water. They have wings, but they are not for flying. They eat fish and snakes, and as embryos they grow in the stomach of a whale, so they are born out of the excretion of whales.

On one of these islands there are giants of great stature and they are hideous if you look at them from below. These creatures have just one eye which is situated in the middle of their forehead. The only food they eat is raw fish and raw meat, but they eat a lot, so they are very fat. They are tall like a giraffe and they sometimes catch birds. The children and the adults are very different because the former is very small and one of their features is that they can’t open their eye until they reach six years of age. They hatch from a little egg and stay in their mother’s womb for thirteen months. They live in a cage where they usually sleep or eat, but where they spend most of their time is outside, in the forest hunting animals to mark their territory. However, they live alone. They don’t know how to communicate because they are not smart enough to do so. They never cry, apart from when they get hurt, in which instance they cry a lot. In spite of being as strong as elephants, they are scared of butterflies. They don’t socialise with anybody from their own species because they are very rude. They are the dominant species, and that’s why they don’t have any predators.

On another island, there are creatures which have horse hooves. They are strong, mighty, and fast runners, and that’s why they can hunt wild beasts so easily and eat them. When it comes to their body, they have long, dirty, and curly hair. On their forehead, they have a huge black eye that can see above the trees and it’s as big as the sun. Their mouth and their nose are also as big as their eye. Their abdomen is very strong and muscular and is as tough as a building. They also have metal strips that go across their chest with an emblem in the middle. Apart from that, they also have a belt made of rock. At the back they have a big blue tail which they use to kill the wild beasts of the forests. Their skin colour is brown like mud, but when they are babies they are pink. Their legs are strong and as big as their chest, and they can run kilometres with out getting tired and with the help of their horse hooves, will beat anyone in a race. In addition, the children look very different to the adults, but when they grow up, they train and become the strongest people in the forest. Regarding their roots, they come from an island called Panem; they live above the trees, they rest during the day, and at night they go and hunt everything they can. Nevertheless, they live with their families in huts. Family is the most important thing for them. When they are with each other, they communicate with strange noises called ‘’Norsue’’ language. Regarding their feelings, nothing makes them cry, because they don’t get scared, but they sometimes laugh if you touch their long ears. They don’t have any predators because they are too strong.

This creature is a really tall monster. It looks like a normal person, but it’s considerably bigger, like a tree. It has got green skin and blond hair. Its face is broken, and the lower part is made of metal. With one single eye on its head, it can see through everything with a very wide range of vision. Apart from that, its nose is like a little broom. In conclusion, it has got an ugly face. If we look below we can see a short neck followed by a big body. It has normal hands, like the hands of the human race. This creature usually wears very elaborate clothes, because it likes to be elegant. And that’s why it wears a suit. This creature has no legs. Instead, it has got a long tail made of strong scales, and that’s why it can swim very quickly. They are born in the depths of the sea inside giant shells. They grow up in the sea, but when they get older, they rise to the surface to have a land life. Normally they live alone, without company. When it comes to its habitat, they like sites where you can relax, for example: caves and deep, dark holes underground. Regarding its diet, they usually eat raw meat and raw fish, but when they haven’t got any food, they can eat whatever they want, even humans! However, they normally sleep during the day as they don’t really like the sunlight. They don’t usually cry, only if they are hit on their eye, in spite of their strength. They don’t laugh a lot, but when they do it's terrifying, although they don't really have any reason to laugh. Nothing in the world scares them. Nevertheless they are the reason for your nightmares. They are not sociable and if you find them, pray that they are not hungry, because if they are, they will eat you!

Oiram is a monster that lives in Treeland. They are fat like a whale, with three navels. Also, they have two heads without a nose and lips. Their mouth is in the shape of a criss-cross and their eyes are two small holes. It’s made of four parts: two heads, a body with two long arms, and two short legs. In Treeland, the adults and the children are different as the adults have two heads. whilst the children only have one. They are born in one of the three navels. In Treeland, they don’t have normal houses, they live in the top of the tree canopies with their families, and they spend their entire life there. They go shopping in the trees, the schools are in the trees… Regarding their diet, we can see that they’re actually very healthy as they only eats plants and fruits, just as vegans do. They always sleep standing up. And they move by running very fast. They communicate by reading each other's minds, and when they are sad they cry pink tears, and when they laugh the tips of their mouths start opening. They also never get scared and are very sociable. Finally, they don’t have predators, and also they are not predators themselves because they only eat plants and fruits.

On an unknown island there are some strange creatures named Red Hunters. Their body looks like a human’s but their face is very different: they have two small and round holes instead of their eyes. Also, they have a flat face and a mouth without lips. They have a head from where two big and curly horns grow. They have two normal arms but their feet are like hooves. Their whole body is hairy and red except a little hole that they have in the place where the heart would be, which is used to make different coloured lights. Surprisingly, they hatch from big eggs. When they are children they are big like a person and green, but when they grow up they become shorter and red like an apple. They live in big caves underground with their families and they are protected by furious tigers. They move like humans but they can also teleport themselves. They sleep two hours everyday in their caves. They can’t eat, they can only drink soups and juices, made of what they want, which they pour into the holes that they have instead of eyes. Nowadays they can communicate by light signals. They use their heart to produce light like a star. They can also interpret and understand these signals. In addition, they are emotionless like stones. They can’t cry or laugh. They have strict rules. For example, they can’t betray any member of their same kind. Apart from that, they are very good hunters but they are very scared of water; it can kill them if it goes inside their body. Anyway, as you can see, they are very strange creatures.

From these islands if you go by sea toward the east for a long time, you can find a great country and a great kingdom that men call Mancy, and it is the best land and one of the prettiest that may be in all the world, and it has the most delicious and largest amount of all goods in the power of man, and they have many beautiful people, although they are all pale. The men have thin beards and few hairs, but they are long, and no one has more than fifty hairs in their beard, and one hair sits here, and another there like the whiskers of a leopard or a cat. In that land there are many more fair women that in any other country, and therefore men called that land Albany, because the people are white. There is a special mix of animals. This monster has a pointed head in the shape of an oval. Their pointed ears are like leaves and they have long hair. There are three tentacles at the top of its head that attack the others animals for food. They also have two big wings that are like lightning which it uses to fly and to be more agile during a fight. On the lower part of their body, they have two eagle legs for catching land animals, and on its ankles there are two tattoos of two animals. They don’t have predators, they are the predator of all the animals in the world. When it comes to its habitat, this monster lives in a volcano that is in the middle of the island. They live with all the other monsters, and there is no difference between any of them; the adults and the children look exactly the same. When the children hatch from the egg they are the same size. They are the size of an elephant. Regarding their diet, it’s very simple; they only eat other animals. They do this activity at night because during the day they sleep inside the lava of the volcano. Regarding communication, they use their tentacles to speak with others of the same species. Depending on how they move, the meaning changes. They only communicate because they don’t have feelings. The only feeling they have is fear, they are scared of the rain. Apart from that, they sing original sounds to mate.

Rox Roxhelasan arbolicalus
This creature is a mix between a bird and a human being. Its head isn’t big if we compare it with its body and it has pointy ears. This animal species has two terrifying yellow eyes that look as penetrating as sharp knives and its mouth is like a net. Its body is muscular and like all the members of its species, it has a red scar on the left hand side of its chest because when they are born, their hearts are removed. It has two thin wings made of feathers and skin. On the pointed part of its wings it has hands that look like claws. It has large legs and its feet look like those of an eagle. Rox is a small creature and when it becomes an adult its wings grow. It’s oviparous and the father lays the eggs. When it comes to its habitat, it lives in big forest trees with its small family. As for its diet, its meals are made of insects that get caught in its mouth, which is netted. It sleeps at night and it goes hunting at dawn. It does that while it is flying or walking because its wings and feet allow it to do so. Regarding the way it communicates, it makes strange sounds and when it gets scared of the dark, it makes a noise that sounds like an alarm. So you will never find it at night or in places without light. Apart from that, it never gets scared. Each month they meet the chief of the clan, which shows that they are ranked in a hierarchy of their social status.
Scardian Scardius spritus By Jordi Gassiot, Noemí Gutiérrez & Carol Téllez
And on another island there are creatures that have big, long ears that hang down to their knees. This is one of the scariest creature a child could ever come across. Scardian is four metres tall, but you won’t see it coming since it is like chameleon. It can camouflage itself to look like the environment around it. This species can also hear its prey from one-hundred miles away because of its large ears that hang down its sides. However, whenever it hears a lost child, Scardian’s ears point upwards to follow them. In addition, when it approaches someone, before eating them, in its eyes hell can be seen with burning fire. On the other hand, you can also know Scardian’s coming by hearing its nine spider legs’ steps. It also licks its lips with its snake tongue. From its waist to its head it looks like a skeleton with a round face, and it also looks like a ghost because of its arms. Scardian lives in the Tasmanian forest, in Australia. Its diet consists of only eating lost children in the forest. It doesn't speak, because the scardius spritus live like lone wolves once they are born. They come to life from a very extraordinarily strange tree called hanya limpopus. This creature is immortal, so it lives forever and never dies. Its ears grow as it gets older, but in general it doesn't change. Scardius spritus do not have a way to communicate with their species. Nevertheless, they can speak the same language as their victims, and they also laugh before eating them.
Snickle Snicklus amicalis By Abdullah Khalid, Cristina Pilon & JĂşlia SĂĄnchez
This creature has a very rare body. It has two heads with four eyes. They don't have much hair but the few hairs that they do have are their antennae which they use to hear as if they were ears. They have a large and thick neck. They only have three fingers with very shiny nails on each hand. They also have a long and hairy tail. On their chest they have a red kangaroo pouch. Their legs are short with very big, strong, and round knees. On each foot they have eight toes. Their fur is very strange; it's blue with black spots. The Snickle is very tall, its feet are like brushes and its head looks like a heart. This species doesn’t have a habitat; they sleep in trees. These creatures are very strong but they are also very peaceful, so they are generally friends with everyone. They are so respectful and generous, and therefore they are everybody’s friend. They’ll not be unkind to anybody. According to the story, the first two creatures of this nature came from a snake, and these two creatures had babies and eventually they grew in population. The adults and children aren’t very different; the only difference is that the adults are big in size. They live with their families and the parents teach their offspring to survive. Snickle's diet is so special that the oldest creatures of its nature need to go to a special lake to collect a fruit called bleme. This fruit’s tree is very special because it grows thanks to the poison of a snake. This means that this species can’t be affected by the poison of any animal, because the first two creatures of this species came from a snake’s egg. Also, they only drink smoothies made of mango and pineapple. This species can’t drink any other drink and it can’t eat anything apart from bleme. They are never sad, they are always happy. They sleep every day. They walk on their knees but they are tall. This species lives on an island where they don’t have predators. They can talk, and their language is called bling.

On another island there are some creatures that always walk on their knees. And everywhere they go it looks like they will fall. They have eight toes on each foot. This monster is called Snoop Thobby and it is an enormous creature like a giant. In terms of its head, it has three. The first one represents the rain. This head comes out when it's raining (the others two are hidden). The second one represents the sun and comes out when it's sunny. And the last one represents the night, and comes out when it's time to go to the bed. In spite of this, they never actually go to sleep. The body is deformed and one of its parts is thinner than the other one. It also wears a tie, which hangs from its second head. It lives in a cave inside a rock with its family. It sounds strange, but they hatch eggs. The mother incubates the egg for three days until the baby is born. They eat cement and rocks. They communicate with symbols by using their hands and making sounds. They only talk to monsters of the same species.

On another island which is very humid, there are little creatures like dwarves called Supronts. Supronts measure 1.20 metres tall, so they are half the size of a Pigmie. Its small body is covered by thick, brown fur from head to toe, except for their big green eyes that are like emeralds and the round little hole they have instead of their mouth. These beasts are famous because of their long claws and their lack of a nose, a tongue, and ears. These wondrous creature are able to use their hands, which are as sharp as knives, to behead their prey and eat and drink their blood and meat by sucking it through a pipe. These monsters are as fast as lightning, so they take advantage of that by attacking the Woolly Chicken on all fours and killing them. Nevertheless, they also use their speed to escape from predators, such as the Blue-Tongued Jellies which live in the same place as them, the swamps. The small creatures hatch from eggs that their mother has thrown up, and surprisingly, they pee out of their eyes and defecate from their nipples. Since Supronts don’t have ears or a tongue, they can’t speak, so to communicate with each other they make signs to one another. However, when it comes to making friends, they throw saliva at each other and after that, they make braids in each others beards. Last but not least, regarding the way they mate, Supronts touch their partner's left eye and braid the top of their partner’s head.

And the capital city of these islands is called Latorin, it is a journey from the sea which is much further than Paris. In that city, there are double the number of birds that there are here. They have a great crest like that of a chicken. In that city, there are more birds than in other city so men go to the country to buy them quickly and cheaply. In that city, there are white chickens without feathers but with wool like a sheep. In that city, women that are unmarried must wear wreaths made of flowers on their heads, so that others know they are unmarried. The Woolly Chickens are strange birds made of wool. They have a big head with three red eyes like fire, two tiny and hairy ears, and a yellow beak. They also have little wings made of wool. They are bigger than human beings, like enormous giants. The difference between the adults and the children is that the youngest only have two eyes and they don’t have eyelashes. Whenever the sun rises, a Woolly Chicken is born. These animals live inside the trees in herds, on the island of the Blue-Tongued Jellies. Apart from that, they move by flying in herds, too. Regarding the way they communicate, the Woolly Chickens make a noise similar to that of a police car. They have feelings because they cry when they get scared but they can’t laugh.

The texts have been adapted and rewritten by the students, combining their brainpower and creativity in small groups to create this stunning edition of Fearsome Creatures.
