descriPtion of the employer The Institute for Human Rights was established in 1985 with the task of promoting teaching and research in the field of Human Rights. The Institute coordinates the Master’s Degree Programme in International Human Rights Law as well as the Finnish Graduate School in Human Rights Research. In addition, the Institute offers specialized short courses to human rights professionals around the world, including the Advanced Course on the International Protection of Human Rights and the Advanced Course on Justiciability of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

information about the traineeship Tasks The trainee will work within a research team on the topic of human rights in the EU area of freedom, security and justice. The research team is part of an international consortium of 19 internationally networked human rights institutes and is financed by the EU´s Seventh Framework Program. The trainee will work as a research assistant with focus on mapping the institutional framework and the policy/legal instruments available for the integration of human rights into the EU AFSJ policies. Knowledge of the EU area of freedom, security and justice, and/or corresponding legal areas is preferable. The placement is best suited for students who are already at an advanced stage of their studies or have recently graduated. Applicants are requested to attach 1-2 recommendations to their application. An interview through Skype will possibly be arranged. Net salary EUR 850 (net salary); EUR 1134 (gross) per month.
