Many years spend on scene, DJ Miko (Boundless Records), is one of the best Psychedelic Goa Trance DJs. His style is so recognizable that leave stamp with hear sets everywhere he play. Have a couple of minutes to enjoy in knowing Miko much better trough the interview that he give for us. 1. As a one of the world biggest promoters of New school Goa Trance sound I would like to know first, how long are you on Goa Trance scene? I am one of the pioneers of Goa trance since 1989 2. How people respond on this style? Actually, this is pretty much old style in the meaning of that was born 20 years ago unlike other trance styles. That’s long period and have changed many generations on dance floor by then. Most of them today are young people who met Goa Trance after year 2000. Whether they accept this style as well as used to accepted earlier generations of listeners? How is the energy on the dance floor during your sets? The style of Goa trance is the same as it was 20 years ago. The meaning is to unite everyone to create one energy. That’s the vibe that was from the beginning. It will never change. The new generation accepts it too. But now days It’s more difficult now to join people because this generation has different musical influences and a lot of the musicians are computer people and their music is more aggressive, less emotional, and it’s more difficult to create the energy on the dance floor, but it’s still possible. 3. Goa trance style is one of the few styles that have long survived on the electronic music scene and constantly offering a new type of energy and creation. Can you tell me the main reason why the things going that way for Goa music, by your opinion, as someone who knows Goa trance ? Morning music or melodic music will always survive because people always like to be happy and to listen to melodies 4. What inspires you the most as a Artist & Dj ? The way I started Dj’ing in 1989 at the first trance parties has always inspired me because it doesn’t matter who you are, everyone can dance without politics or religion. Other influences are rock music that I heard such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, U2 and Mike Oldfield. I’m influenced by movies - science fiction and fantasy especially. 5. Do you have any other side projects that you are currently working on? I’m working on a new “California sunshine” album with Harel, and an EP with Twina 6. What destinations (countries) have had a positive impact on your music career? Israel , Japan , Goa , And many more ... 7. Please share your favorite moments in psytrance clubs, festivals, parties, etc. with our readers? When I see that everyone is united and the energy inspires people - that they are at the highest level that they can be 8. Are there spiritual connections linked to your tracks? how do they influence you energetically while performing? My tracks each have a meaning that I made in the Studio, each part is important and if while I’m playing my set, I see the crowd react like I meant while creating the music - it’s the best feeling I can have 9. Please share any words or message(s) that you would like to share with the Digital Oracle Magazine readers. McCOY is one of the original members and the drummer of SUN PROJECT. He left the band in November 2011 and founded “McCOY´s SUN PROJECT” to keep the spirit alive for his fans. “McCOY´s SUN PROJECT”: McCOY/drums, SLAG/guitar+trigger-finger, ALPHA/bass/keyboard/mixing 1. Can you bring us all into your world of music making for a moment, and tell us how you first came into making trance? In Spring 1993 I travelled to GOA and that took me to my very first tranceparty in Anjuna. It took 3 more hours and they found me in the middle of the dance-floor - flying and dancing to this crazy beats and sounds, between all that beautiful people from all over the world. That was really mystic! In 1996 we started the original SUN PROJECT and had our first release in the same year with the cult-label SPIRIT ZONE. 2. Where does your love for this specific genre of psytrance come from? I think it was GOA, where I got infected to this kind of music. This love is still alive until today. It was a unique place and a special, wonderful and mystic time. 3. What makes your current project unique from ones in the past? McCoy: I think “McCOY´s SUN PROJECT” sounds more fresh than the ones in the past. With new musicians we have new influences and to spice it up, we combine new and hot styles. SLAG: It’s still psy-trance and NEVER FEAR! We still have bonebiting guitar-riffs on the hook for you. 4. In one essence, one vibration, what word best describes your music? McCoy & SLAG: FULL - ON - LIVE - ROCK - FIRE - ALIEN - SHOW 5. We are very interested in hearing about your most memorable moment in all of your performances? McCoy: The most memorable was 1999 in Ozora, when we played at the sun-eclipse-festival with nearly 30.000 wild and crazy trance-people. If you once saw an eclipse, you´ll never forget about it. SLAG: I had a show in Tokyo at the Velfarre Discotheque once with “The Psychotronic Lovecommando”, together with the “BeatHackers”. 6. Are there “spiritual “ aspects involved while playing /producing /recording your sounds? How does this effect your listeners on an energetic level? McCoy: The most flow of energy I feel, while playing a live-show. The big difference between us and the most of all the other so called “live-acts” is, that we play really live and we play instruments (guitar/ drums/bass-keyboards). We are doing a show, a performance and we sweat for the audience - and they sweat with us! We give (music) and they take. SLAG: Yeah, real interaction. We try to let the audience be part of the show, and they love it. 7. What other talented artists among you inspire you to create? McCoy: Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, The Police (Steward Copeland/drums), Blink 182 (Travis Barker/ drums), Freak Kitchen, Rage Against The Machine and a lot of other rock-music. My influences are from “hand-made-music”. SLAG: Actually every musician, who does a good job, kicks my ass. I love these moments to listen to someone, who blows me away, no matter what he does. And even east european folk music could be inspiring, if you play it backwards, no joke. Have you ever heard a banjo-solo backwards? Try it !!! Sometimes you have to go other ways. 8. What artists in your own music genere inspired you to make your own music and how did you go about releasing your first album? McCoy: Before the first album (“Drosophila” 1996 - does somebody remember ?) I loved acts like X-DREAM and JUNO REACTOR. When we were starting to produce electronic-music we wanted to sound like them. But from the very beginning we had our own style, because we added so many heavy-guitar-riffs. 9. Please share any words or message(s) that you would like to share with the Digital Oracle Magazine readers . McCoy: If you ever find a party-flyer with “McCOY´s SUN PROJECT” - come and join us ! Let´s rock the party together ! Lechaim, McCOY SLAG: Yeah, rock the Party together, we won’t disapoint you, promise !!! Cheers !! Interview By Chloe Digital Oracle Magazine January 24th .2013
