Each year hundreds and thousands of peo-

ple gather together in the Black Rock Desert, creating a village of their own imaginations, their own creations. This extensive festival lasts about 8 days, give or take the long hot car ride out there and back, this village or small city is mainly based on music, art, culture, oneness, survival, radical expression, community, and passion. All of these presentations of expression are all created by the members of this giant family. This festival is not your average main stage party. Burning man is created from virtually nothing...just playa dust and citizens who create from the ground up! There is no money exchange in this city- if that isn’t shocking enough... Different ART themes are presented every year as the roots to grow ideas from. Here is what the past 6 successful years offered: 2005 - Psyche 2006 - Hope & Fear 2007 - The green man 2008 - American Dream 2009 - Evolution 2010 - Metropolis 4

TEN PRINCIPLES GUIDELINE TO BM ATTENDEES Atish BJAM / Ten Principles Radical Inclusion. Anyone may be a part of Burning Man. We welcome and respect the stranger. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community. Gifting. Burning Man is devoted to acts of gift giving, the value of a gift is unconditional. Gifting does not contemplate a return or an exchange for something of equal value. Decommodification. In order to preserve the spirit of gifting, our community seeks to create social environments that are unmediated by commercial sponsorships, transactions, or advertising. We stand ready to protect our culture from such exploitation. Radical Self - Reliance. Burning Man encourages the individual to discover, exercise and rely on his or her inner resources. Radical Self-expression. Arises from the unique gifts of the individual. No one other than the individual or a collaborating group can determine its content. It is offered as a gift to others. In this spirit, the giver should respect the rights and liberties of the recipient.

Communal Effort. Our community values creative cooperation and collaboration. We strive to produce, promote and protect social networks, public spaces, works of art, and methods of communication that support such interaction. Civic Responsibility. We value civil society. Community members who organize events should assume responsibility for public welfare and endeavor to communicate civic responsibilities to participants. They must also assume responsibility for conducting events in accordance with local, state and federal laws. Leaving No Trace. Our community respects the environment. We are committed to leaving no physical trace of our activities wherever we gather. We clean up after ourselves and endeavor, whenever possible, to leave such places in a better state than when we found them. Participation. Our community is committed to a radically participatory ethic. We believe that transformative change, whether in the individual or in society, can occur only through the medium of deeply personal participation. We achieve being through doing. Everyone is invited to work.

Everyone is invited to play. We make the world real through actions that open the heart. Immediacy. Immediate experience is, in many ways, the most important touchstone of value in our culture. We seek to overcome barriers that stand between us and a recognition of our inner selves, the reality of those around us, participation in society, and contact with a natural world exceeding human powers. Welcome to the Mind of DJ C - “I am a Peoria, Illinois based DJ that finds nothing stirs the soul like a pulse pounding beat. I play mostly harder techno like Hard House and Hard Progressive. I’ve recently started doing hard remixes of top-40 for my radio show to help bring the subculture into the light. Everyone should know what it’s like to be lost in the music at least once in their lives.” Many other stages and hand crafted venues were set up in honor of music genres ranging from house music, trip-hop, psy trance, dubstep, techno, progressive, minimal, electro, dance, world-fusion, acid soul, and many more. Dear friends, today we will

interview and give a brief description and discography of the talented Piers Oak-Rhind (UK) who along with music partner Helmut Glavar (Austria) create the unique and mystical sounds of Entheogenic.. Both highly accomplished producers of music, and skilled in creating multidimentional planes to contemplate on. With a strong connection to organic and original sound. 1: What defines Entheogenic’s style of music? Many things I suppose, but here are a few words I can think of now to describe our style of music: Electric - acoustic - psylove - downtempo - worldfusion - organicdub - trance - shamanic - fullonchillout. 2: What drove you to choose the name Entheogenic? Once Helmut & I had written, recorded & produced the 1st album (self-titled ‘Entheogenic’) which took around year & a half to finish back in 1999. We needed a band, project name! We felt from the depth & emotion in this record, it needed something appropriate to express what the music meant to us. Quite naively & positively we choose & stuck with Entheogenic.. 3: Tell us a little bit about your past albums and how they impact your current albums. The 1st album was very much the beginning of the journey for us in electronic music creation. The 2nd Album ‘Spontaneous Illumination’ was an epic journey & took over 2 years to complete! The following release ‘Dialogue

12

Of The Speakers’ was a collection of tracks mostly remixes by various artists (Ott, Youth, Shulman) & a couple of new tracks by Entheogenic & was beautifully compiled by Chillco - de Records. The 4th album ‘Golden Cap’ was written after a difficult move & transition to the UK! With a more stripped down approach & minimal style we decided to try & do something a little different to the 1st 2 albums, but yet maintain a depth & quality within the music. We feel that ‘Golden Cap’ reflects a difficult transitional & experimental period for us.. which then lead to the creation of the 5th album ‘Flight Of The Urubus’. After Helmut left the band in 2007 & moved to Brazil, I decided to continue with Entheogenic & focused on developing USR. I started writing a few tracks & very much wanted to get back to our psychedelic roots of long deep & emotional soundscapes like the 1st 2 albums, which slowly evolved into the creation of ‘Gaia Sophia’. 4: After the creation of 5 released albums what is special and unique with “Gaia Sophia”? I cannot really say that there is anything special or unique about ‘Gaia Sophia’ except that this was my 1st solo attempt at writing & recording an album, which proved very hard & intense! Plus the opening track ‘Love Letters To The Soul’ is over 27 minutes long..! 5: Where does your inspiration come from while working in the studio? For me personally & I can probably speak for Helmut too.. Nature & landscapes & the sea has always inspired me to see & hear music visually in my head. 6: Which festival in what country (or which part of the world) has been your favorite on an energetic level so far? Hmmm, I could not say a favourite place or festival as every event is always different & full of new surprises! But I have been very lucky to travel the world with the music, notably Brazil (Universo Paralello) & Mexico (Ometeotl) & Costa Rica (Geo-Paradise). Of course the bigger festivals like OZORA in Hungary are always very epic.. & also my local festivals here in the UK ‘Sunrise’ & ‘Waveform’ are always great fun! 7. Any new special plans for the future or up-coming projects? After 10 years of Entheogenic, I am considering starting new projects with the focus of playing live instruments. Jamming with musicians is a real passion of mine & for me personally is a more refreshing approach to music than dealing with computers all the time! 8: During the 3 years that no albums were released were you working on your newest? How long did “Gaia Sophia” take you to produce? As this was a solo attempt.. Yes ‘Gaia Sophia’ took around 3 years to produce! But after some very long intense moments the album was finally completed earlier this year & released in May.

9: Where does the spiritual journey play a part in connection to your sound creations? This is always a sensitive & personal topic, as I believe all artistic creation is of a spiritual nature whatever the intent! Padmasambhava since the age of 18 has been very important & a powerful guide for me & has helped me through some very difficult times! This has played a large part in the music creation that we channel... 10: In your many years of festivals, massive parties and extravagan events, what is your most psychadelic and memorable moment? Apart from birth, which I don’t remember too well ! It would have to be my 1st LSD experience & then later on my 1st psilocybin experience ! Both of which were taken alone & deep in nature ! No words can fully describe our full break through experiences, so I’ll let the music do the talking... 11: What is the meaning and essence that Entheogenic is trying to to your listeners from all over the world. Our music does require full attention from the listener, which is almost in a sense, meditation. Through the use of electronic & organic infusion of sounds we aim to set out creating the perfect soundscapes for the listener to discover internal nature & Gaia Sophia. Peace! By Chloe Burger. Greetings Dennis! 1. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you became involved in music scene? I’m taking a master in electrical engineering.. The nice thing with that is that a lot you learn there is related to signal processing and the mathematics behind it, which have led me to developing my own realtime audio processing software, plugins, that i use in production. I live with my wife and 5(!) kids in the countryside in Sweden. 2. What inspiries you the most as a psy artist? Two things. Intelligent and warmhearted party people & psychedelics. 3. Do you have any other side projects that you are currently working on? Yes, Tryptamind with Mathias Andersson (Ibojima/Duotekk/Nord) 4.What countries have had a positive impact on your music carrer? If I have to pick one place i’d have to say Israel. 5. Use one word to describe the overall essence of your sound? We make what I call “Psychedelic psychedelic trance”. Feels like you have to make that distinction since there’s nowadays a lot of music that’s labeled psychedelic trance, but is far from psychedelic imo. 6. Please share your favorite moments in psytrance clubs, festivals, etc. with our readers? There have been so many I can´t pick one. 7. What do you think the future holds for this specific genre of music? I think it will just continue to grow and evolve. It’s too good to just die. 8. What inspired you to make your own music and how did you go about releasing your first album? when do you expect your next album to be released? The swedish forest partys. “There was no return” after this Spring 2012. 9. Please share any words or message(s) that you would like to share with the Digital Oracle Magazine readers. Hahaha, sorry, can’t do this without delivering stupid clichés or feeling far too pretentious. Thank you kindly- ; ) By: Chloe Frances Psychedelic Goa Trance.
