TORI HOLT S e n i o r // M o u n t V e r n o n , O h i o // C e n t e r b u r g 2013 // JUNIOR SEASON Cleveland State’s top finisher in five out of the six races she competed in…set a 5K personal-best at the WC Fall Classic when she finished in 19:11 – also marking the ninth fastest 5K over the past nine seasons…bettered her 6K career-best at the NCAA regional with a time of 23:18 – notching the fifth fastest 6K over the past nine seasons…recorded CSU’s 19th fastest 5K time at the Horizon League Championship (19:20) when she placed 15th overall – the highest individual finish for a Viking over the past 12 seasons…also notched three additional top-50 5K times throughout the season (19:27 split at the Friendship Invitational, 19:28 at the Ohio Invitational, 19:35 split at the NCAA Regional). 2012 // SOPHOMORE SEASON Was CSU’s top finisher in all seven races she competed in…recorded a career-best 5K time of 19:13 when she placed 26th at the Horizon League Championship…six of her times from the season rank in the top-40 5K times since 2005, including her career-best 19:13 that ranks 11th all-time…notched her first sub-20 minute 5K at the Titan Invitational, finished 39th in a time of 19:59…finished eighth overall at the Otterbein Invitational in a time of 19:23…placed 18th overall at the Walt Disney World Classic (19:49)…finished 10th in a time of 19:18 at the Friendship Invitational. 2011 // FRESHMAN SEASON Ran in all nine races during the season, finishing in the top-four for CSU three times… posted sub-21 minute times during three races, including a career-best 20:12 at the AllOhio Championship…was the third Viking to finish at the Penn State National, running the 6K course in 25:09…finished the Shawnee State Invitational in a time of 20:43… crossed the finish line at the Friendship Invitational in 20:53…finished 45th at the Horizon League Championships with a time of 21:34. JOE JAKETIC H e a d C o a c h // 10 t h S e a s o n Entering his 10th season at the helm of the cross country team, Joe Jaketic will have his work cut out for him, as he continues to build the Viking program into one of the top teams in the Horizon League. A Cleveland State graduate in 1972, Jaketic has never been able to shake his enthusiasm for the Vikings, and that has truly carried over into his head coaching career. Three years ago, Jaketic guided the squad to its best season in program history, culminating with a fourth place finish at the Horizon League Championship. CSU’s fourth place finish at the 2011 championship marked the highest finish in program history. Over his nine years at the helm of the cross country team, Jaketic has continued to build the program into a Horizon League contender year-in and year-out. He has worked hard on the recruiting trail to bring in student-athletes that not only succeed on the cross country course, but also in the classroom since he has a personal philosophy that academics come first in his program. During his tenure, 39 student-athletes have earned John Konstantinos Athletic Academic Honors, including 11 who earned the accolade during all four years of their career. Since the 2005 season, the Vikings have earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors five times (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008), been named Cleveland State’s ‘Best of the Best’ three times (2011, 2010, 2006) and won the Academic Progress Rate Award six times (2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008). Two of Jaketic’s recruits have also been named Cleveland State Valedictorians, as Brittany Elmlinger earned the honor during Fall 2012 and Kelly Zaleski picked up the award during Spring 2013. Prior to becoming head coach, Jaketic served as the equipment manager for CSU athletics. He retired from that position in December of 2008 after 37 years. Jaketic ran cross country at Maple Heights High School and spent time running at Ohio University before transferring to run cross country and track at Cleveland State. While a student at CSU, Jaketic was a member of the Viking cross country team and spent two years in the equipment room as a part-time job before being offered the equipment manager position in 1972.

Allison Lowe enters her third season as a volunteer assistant coach at Cleveland State, following a standout career in a Viking uniform. Lowe was a four-year letterwinner at CSU from 2007-2011, and was the team’s top finisher during 29 races throughout her career. As a senior, Lowe led the Vikings to a fourth place finish at the Horizon League Championship, their highest finish in program history. Lowe, who graduated from CSU in 2012 with a degree in physical education, finished her career with eight of the top-10 5K times since 2005 - when Joe Jaketic became head coach. After earning a masters degree in exercise physiology from Cleveland State, Lowe now teaches physical education at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin in Chardon, Ohio.

Ashley Berlin will begin her first season as a student assistant coach during 2014, joining the Cleveland State coaching staff after a four-year career in a Viking uniform. Berlin ran for the Vikings from 2010-2013, serving as team captain during her final season. She posted the best marks of her career as a junior, recording a personal-best 5K time of 21:14 and a personalbest 6K time of 26:51. The Wadsworth, Ohio native will be continuing her education this year, and plans on graduating next spring with a degree in biology.
