Sara passed unexpectedly, Sunday, March 3, 2013. We are still reeling in shock, sadness and gut-wrenching grief. She was in the veterinary field for nearly 40 years, assisting at Bluegrass Animal Hospital, and then with Greg (Dr. Hassel) for the last 30 years.

Harold AUSTIN AGE 87 - PLAINWELL, MICHIGAN
Harold Austin, age 87, of Plainwell passed away March 1, 2013 at Life Care Center. A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 5 at 10:00 a.m. Harold’s family includes his wife of 65 years: Ruth; children: Mary (Rex) Rouse, Arlene (Kerry) Keith, Dolly (David) Nicholson, Betty (Dan) Dennany, Tammy Austin, Roger (Jamie) Austin, Gary (Sharon) Austin, Brian (Kathy) Austin; sisters: Nancy Forester, Sharon (Mike) Moran, Donna Gillam; 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons Clifford and Dennis; his brothers: Ira, Aaron, Lewis, Warren, Paul and Clifford; and his sister Joy. Harold served his country proudly in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was stationed in India. He was an active Boy Scout leader for many years and was awarded the Silver Beaver. He was a member of the American Legion Post 250 and the VFW Wayland Post. He loved his family and lived for his grand and great grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Boy Scouts of American – Gerald R. Ford Council.

Sara passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 3, 2013 at her home. Sara was born November 9, 1947 in Ogden, Utah to Rex and Agnes (Davies) Branch. She attended Paw Paw High School and worked and competed successfully with horses in the Western Pleasure Class. Sara loved animals and worked more than 30 years as a veterinary technician. Sara was a non-traditional fun-loving free spirit, who was always there with open arms to family and friends. Surviving are her son and daughter, Gabriel (Dana) Goderre of Otsego and Megan (Ben) Knight of Allegan; five grandchildren, Devon, Olivia, Jaylynn, Trae and Ethan; siblings, Anne Branch of Lake Odessa, Steve Branch of Honor, Missy (Don) Torrey of Bangor and Greg (Diane) Branch of Otsego, a dear friend Nick McCarty; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may visit with Sara’s family from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. Cremation will follow with a Celebration of her life to be held in the spring. (The family asks friends for contact information, either in the register book at the funeral home or on the funeral home website, so that they can send notification of the day and time of the Celebration of Life). Contributions in memory of Sara may be made to Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center or a college fund for her grandchildren
