CITY OF ENID, OKLAHOMA

Thoughts from Jerald Gilbert, City Manager As we enjoy the festivities of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, let’s also remember the original purpose and meaning of the occasion. Visiting our local Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall located at Enid's Woodring Regional Airport is one way to remember and commemorate the lives of 58,307 men and women who lost their lives in military service in Vietnam. This 80% replica of the Washington, D.C. Memorial Wall was dedicated on Veterans Day, 2013 and declared as Oklahoma's Official Vietnam War Memorial by Governor Mary Fallin. The wall memorial is about remembering; Memorial Day is a day of remembrance. During the holiday, take time to honor those who serve and have served, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives.

–Jerald Gilbert
