CITY NEWS March 2019 Volume 7, Issue 3 City Information Numbers

The Bureau of International Recycling names March 18, 2019 as Global Recycling Day. While some items like paper, take two to six weeks to decompose other items, such as plastic bags, can take up to 1,000 years. These items are sitting in our Landfill right now. Not only does recycling reduce the amount of waste, but it also reduces the amount of harmful chemicals, greenhouse gases and pollution released. The City offers the following options to recycle plastic jugs, pop bottles, and aluminum cans at the recycle center located at 101 East Chestnut Avenue and discarded tires at the landfill. Cardboard can be recycled at the location south of the City administration building. Additionally, the “Keepin’ Enid Green” offers a curbside pickup service as a separate business from the City where residents can subscribe themselves as they desire. For more information about these resources, go to: Enid.org/Recycle. - Jerald Gilbert
