Editorial
I
N the last edition we discussed how marriages are wrecked online. This edition is themed as ‘Relationship Special’ and focusses on the rising culture of dating in Hyderabad. It also dwells into various other aspects of relationship. Dating which has not only dealt a severe blow to the age old institution of arranged marriage but has surfaced with many ramifications. Today dating is not merely restricted to getting married. There are some involved in a no commitment prolonged affair, to those more intense ones engaged in live-in relationships, while there are other desperate souls on the look out for a sexual one night stand, to those ready to settle for a lustful fling over a drink at a night club, the dating duos have set Hyderabad on fire with their bold escapades. We bring you an analysis on the issue and attempt to explore its fall out on the tradition of arranged marriage. And as truly observed in the story while dating has emerged as a preferred option amongst the city youth. Eventually marriages are made in heaven. Dating or arranged marriage, the paths may vary, but ultimately they both lead to the attainment of true love. The other related stories on dating and relationship lend you a soft cushion to stand out in the crowd when you are in a pensive mood. The underlying concern while planning the theme of ‘Relationship’ has been that today the mainstay of our success in life be it as a child in the family or as a grown up adult in this cut throat world revolves around the relationship that we share with our friends, neighbours and professional acquaintances. And above all the bonding that we share with our better half motivates us to push ourselves a little harder to attain our goal and achieve success. This issue also focuses on summer fashion and brings you a panoramic view of the fashion splurge that hit the city this May. There is an interesting dose of movie masala for the film buffs. Jacqueline Fernandez’s interview who has stepped into Mallika Sherawat’s shoes and exposes like her in the ‘Murder’ sequel will interest the film goers. And among other things an exclusive report on the scintillating Epicurus Hospitality Awards that became the talk of the town among the hoteliers. Moreover, we co-hosted the evening in the role of magazine partner for the event. There is also a beautiful story on the forgotten Horsley Hills to give you some respite from the soaring levels of mercury this summer. OVE is not a bond, or a relationship, but more of a heart to heart conversation. When the conversation grows, the bond and relationship forms. Therefore, love creates the bond and relationship. Still, that leaves us with the main question, what is love? Love is no ordinary thing. It is not voluntary, but when it begins, you will know. There are three types of love. Infatuation, love of family, friends and well wishers, and love of your spouse. Infatuation, most commonly known as “Puppy Love”, is basically love at first sight. Infatuation can be the beginning of a future spouse love. Though most often infatuation doesn’t amount to much. Love of family, friends and well wishers is loving your mother and father, any siblings you may have, friends and well wishers. You want to protect them, watch over them, and fill their lives with an unbounding joy. The parents have an innermost feeling for their children, which they express everyday. Love of your spouse means loving someone you are married to. Whether husband or wife, you support your spouse with a deep modesty, and you treat them with great respect. Okay, so I told you the three types of love. But I still haven’t told you what love is. I told you a definition, a heart to heart conversation, but does that tell you much? No. So, I will put it straight. Love means to care, to protect, to watch over, to pray for, and to make sure the loved person is happy. But to tell you the truth, those are all parts of love. Not love itself. So, I will tell you what I think of love. Love has a meaning, but we will never know. Many philosophers have tried, but all their attempts have failed. Every single one of them! alter Breuning the world’s oldest man and second-oldest person, has died at the age of 114. He died of natural causes in a Montana hospital, said a spokeswoman for the Rainbow retirement home where he lived. Breuning was admitted to hospital at the beginning of April with an undisclosed illness. Breuning was 26 days younger than Besse Cooper of Georgia, whom the Gerontology Research Group in Los Angeles lists as the world’s oldest person. In an interview last autumn, Breuning attributed his longevity to eating just two meals a day, working as long as he could and always embracing change, especially death. ‘We’re all going to die. Some people are scared of dying. Never be afraid to die. Because you’re born to die,’ he said.

Remove the edges of the bread slices and cut it into triangular shape. For filling, mix badam paste and salt. In between two triangular slices stuff spread the badam salt paste. For syrup, mix sugar with little water, cardamom powder, kesari powder and bring it to boil. (until thick syrup). Fry bread in oil and dip them in sugar syrup. Tasty bread badam puri is ready to savour. Enjoy the tasty bread badam puri this summer and also try replacing sugar syrup with badam milk.
COCONUT LADOO Ingredients:
4 1/2 cups dry desiccated coconut, 1 tsp cardamom powder, 400 ml condensed milk ( like Milkmaid) Method:
In a kadhai or a pan, mix dry, desiccated coconut and condensed milk. Cook, stirring, on a medium heat till the mixture begins to leave the sides of the kadhai. Take out from the kadhai and allow the coconut mixture to cool. Add cardamom powder and mix well.. Using your hands, form ping pong size balls from this mixture. HE Epicurus Hospitality Awards 2011 organised by Epicurus Hospitality Consultants on 22nd May’11 turned out to be great evening for the hospitality fraternity of Andhra Pradesh. IKE every year we look forward to the All Fools Day on 1st April, come the month of May and May Queen Ball is an integral part of it across the globe. An age old legacy inherited from the British rule, Indian defense forces too stretch their arms to the first day of May and celebrate spring fertility festival to honor goddess Spring. This year too like previous years as the merry month of may set in, putting aside the hot, sultry whether defense officers, their kith and kin gathered for the beauty pageant at Rajendra Singhji Institute (RSI) in Bolaram on 14th May’11. A similar May Queen Ball was held at the Secunderabad Club, Vikrampuri too in the presence of a massive crowd on 22nd May’11. Though the event has evolved over the years into a cultural extravaganza including parties, sing-along, and one of the most awaited and indeed colorful evening. This year like last few years the administration and the organisers went a step further and held a combined May Queen and May Prince event. The boys didn’t have to tell us that they were upbeat and excited about being a part of the event — their enthusiasm said it all! Having undergone training sessions prior to the event, the contestants gave heartwarming performances at the beauty pageant. It just wasn’t only a sparkling evening full of anxiety METRO
and excitement, but culmination of a fruitful journey for the contestants. RSI May Queen 2011 turned out to be a wonderful learning experience for all the participants. Organised strictly in the true spirit of a beauty pageant, the training sessions that preceded the event transformed all the smart girls of the forces to glamorous elegant princesses. Boys and girls in the age group 16 to 25 years among unmarried and upto 30 years of age among the married men and women were eligible to participate. They were given orientation on walking the ramp, body posture, stage presence, costumes, confidence, how to interact with the audience, hair styling and makeup. The beauty pageant at RSI was held to appreciate the unparalleled beauty and also to recognise the young elegant and graceful ladies. A team of choreographers and designers made sure that all the pretty contestants stood out among others. Using their imagination and flair to create different looks and putting a unique outfit together proved to the advantage of the contestants. An esteemed panel of judges including fashion designer Shravan Kumar Ramaswamy, Geeta Golla, Ex CEO Sakshi newspaper and Laila K Khan fashion stylist chose eight finalist.
