All of math is easier when students have basic facts and concepts locked in solidly. If a student is missing just a few, it can significantly handicap progress. Students can labor excessively due to a few unaddressed deficiencies or because their calculating speed is slow. Students will be tested and deficiencies pinpointed. Trash & Maintenance Services

Bulky Item Pick-Up Reminder! City of Temecula residents are allowed two FREE bulky item pick-ups, including e-waste, annually. Please call CR&R at (800) 755-8112 and make arrangements in advance for the pick-up of these items.

Christmas Tree Recycling

The City of Temecula strongly encourages all residents and businesses to recycle. Residents can call CR&R to request an extra recycling container at no charge. Discounted rates are provided for local businesses that request a “recycled materials only” bin. For more information, contact CR&R at (800) 755-8112.

ABOP Center

Riverside County offers weekly collection of antifreeze, vehicle and household batteries, oil (and filters), and paint (latex only) at the ABOP Center. WHEN: Every NON-holiday Saturday (Subject to closure due to weather) TIME: 9:00am until 2:00pm WHERE: 25315 Jefferson Ave in Murrieta (N. of Murrieta Hot Springs Rd.) Maximum chemical load: 5 gallons or 50 lbs. (per trip). Some restrictions apply; contact Riverside County Waste Management at (951) 486-3200 for details or visit www.rivcowm.org.

City Wide Clean Up Day

CR&R Inc. and the City of Temecula will be co-sponsoring the bi-annual Citywide Cleanup one Saturday in the Spring. All City residents may dispose of e-waste, used motor oil, antifreeze, vehicle batteries, green waste, and bulky items. This service is free to Temecula residents. (ID is required). Event will be held at Chaparral High School between 8am and 2pm. For more information check the city website or contact Dale West in Community Development at (951) 694-6400.

Holiday Schedule Trash Pick-Up

On holidays your trash collection will be delayed by one day. If your normal trash day is Monday, your trash will be collected on Tuesday, etc. If your normal trash day is Friday, your trash will be collected on Saturday. Holidays will also affect the street sweeping schedule. If the holiday occurs on Saturday or Sunday, your trash collection & street sweeping services may not change. Holidays are New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Curbside Christmas tree pick-up begins the first trash pick-up after Christmas and continues for two weeks. Please make sure that trees are free of decorations and tinsel. Trees 6 feet or taller should be cut in half. Do not place in plastic bags. Place tree inside, or next to the green recycle barrel.

Street Sweeping

Please be a good neighbor and remember not to park on residential streets on trash pick-up day and street sweeping day. Residential streets are swept the day after trash pick-up day. Keeping vehicles off the streets on these days allows efficient trash collection and street sweeping. Observing this simple request helps keep all of Temecula’s neighborhoods looking their best!

Paint Collection

The California Paint Stewardship Program started in October 2012 with 4 locations in Temecula to take leftover paint. They will accept interior and exterior architectural coatings sold in containers of 5 gallons or less at no additional charge from all residents and certain businesses. Aerosol products (spray cans) and specialty coatings are not allowed. Drop off sites may only collect certain quantities at one time. Call in advance for details. For drop off sites and more information, visit www.paintcare.org or call (855) 724-6809.

Storm Drains

The City of Temecula would like to remind residents of the City’s storm water and pollution prevention requirements. When it rains, water flows from our streets and into our creeks. Flows then drain into the Santa Margarita River, which ultimately discharges into the Pacific Ocean. The City is committed to improving water quality by implementing programs that systematically reduce and eliminate pollutants from urban runoff before reaching our local creeks. Please join us in this commitment by considering some simple pollution prevention measures: • Use dry methods (raking, vacuuming, sweeping) for outdoor cleaning. • Use rags or powdered absorbents to clean up spills. • Dispose of pet waste, debris, and trash in trash bins, not in the gutter. • Use a mop instead of a hose to clean areas when water is needed. • Set irrigation timers to prevent over-watering. This runoff carries fertilizers, pesticides, and sediment into local creeks and harms their ecosystems. • Do not hose down driveways, sidewalks, or gutters. Other than rain water, it is illegal to send pollutants into our streets, gutters, storm drains, or any waterway. If you see an illegal discharge, please report it by calling us at 951-694-6411. To obtain additional information about the City’s water quality program and requirements, please visit our website.

TCSD Maintenance Division

The Maintenance Division is committed to ensuring an aesthetically pleasing and healthy city by providing safe, clean public areas. The Maintenance Program provides effective landscape and facility maintenance services to parks, slopes, medians, recreation facilities, and also oversees the repair and maintenance of arterial and neighborhood streetlights.
