Volunteer Opportunities Volunteers are a vital part of the City of Reno Inclusion/ Adaptive Recreation program. Volunteers will gain rewarding experiences through assisting Parks and Recreation staff with a variety of programs or providing additional support for participants. SPORTS Sky Tavern Adaptive Ski Program Sled Hockey Spring/Summer Season starts March 28 Sundays from 10:30-11:30am Fee: $50 | Reno Ice - 15500 Wedge Parkway Participants with physical disabilities will get a chance to learn about sled hockey and get on the ice. All equipment and on-ice instruction provided. Please wear long pants and closed toed shoes. No prior experience necessary. Renown: Rehabilitation Hospital Renown Rehabilitation Hospital provides a full range of rehabilitation services for these conditions: brain injury, stroke/neurological diagnoses, spinal cord injury, fractures, joint replacements, multiple trauma, cancer, Parkinson’s and movement disorders, heart and lung disorders, amputation, and worker’s compensation injuries. At Renown, patient outcomes exceed national benchmarks, thanks to the team of rehab specialists.

HighFivesFoundation.org The High Fives Foundation is a Tahoe-based, national 501.c.3 non-profit organization that supports outdoor sports athletes who suffered life-alternating injuries by raising injury prevention awareness and resources. Formed as a way to “pay-it-forward”, the foundation has helped over 180 athletes since 2009. For more information, visit the website.

RTC Launches Uber Rides Pilot Program The RTC is seeking participants for a new RTC Washoe-Uber Rides Pilot Program to subsidize 75% of your Uber fare (up to $9) for trips that start and end within the map area pictured. This pilot program provides alternative, reliable and affordable transportation to Washoe County residents who are 60 years and older, RTC ACCESS clients (any age) and Washoe County Veterans (any age). VETERANS Project Hero ProjectHero.org Founded in 2008, Project Hero is a groundbreaking national non-profit organization dedicated to helping Veterans and First Responders affected by PTSD, TBI and injury achieve rehabilitation, recovery and resilience in their daily lives and increasing awareness to combat the national mental health emergency posed by PTSD and TBI. Starting Thursday, March 20 1-3pm | Fee: Free for Military Veterans | Sierra Sage Golf Course PGA HOPE Helping Our Patriots Everywhere is a 6-week introductory golf program for military veterans. The program is meant to help veterans improve their physical, mental, emotional and social well-being through the game of golf. PGA HOPE is the only therapeutic golf program for veterans that is endorsed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, taught by PGA Professionals and has a maximum ratio of 5 veterans to 1 instructor. After veterans “graduate” from PGA HOPE, we provide them with monthly opportunities to continue to play golf and stay engaged within the PGA HOPE community of veterans. To Register for PGA Hope: www. NevadaPVA.org This program is dedicated to improving the quality of life for veterans and our disabled community with spinal cord injury or dysfunction. Nevada PVA offers an active sports and recreation program for our members, and the disabled in our community. This organization sponsors programs in Northern Nevada that provides health benefits, support, opportunity and camaraderie for all involved.
