Program fees are calculated on cost recovery goals and are presented to the Reno City Council on an annual basis. Council approves the fee schedule in May of each year. The fees collected from these programs are not intended for profit. The fees cover the costs of providing necessary supplies and staff to run said programs. Fees and programs are subject to change without notice and may change after this document is published. The City of Reno Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to make cancellations as deemed necessary and refund accordingly.

PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE 2020 has certainly been a year to remember. The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed our operations. Instead of dwelling on the negatives, Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d like to take this time to commend your parks and recreation department staff for their swift mobilization to provide services to the community. In parks, the usage by the community has exploded and the parks maintenance crew has made a valiant effort to keep up with the maintenance demands. With our recreation programs, for the health and safety of our staff and customers we have taken a strategic and cautious approach to programs being offered. Our staff has done a great job adhering to all the COVID-19 guidelines to mitigate risk. Adaptation and flexibility have been key to our ability to provide activities in parks and recreation. Now, more than ever, the role of parks and recreation is contributing to the health and wellness needs of our community. We hope you continue to use our parks and recreation programs. We look forward to expanding our offerings as the situation allows. We wish you and your family good health. Continue to be patient and be kind to one another.

The City of Reno is committed to providing recreational opportunities to all residents regardless of economic circumstances. For this reason, a limited fund fee assistance program is available to those who qualify. If you have wanted to participate in our all-day camps, before-and-after school programs or qualified classes but couldn’t because of financial circumstances, we encourage you to apply.

Income level, family size, and other criteria determine whether or not fee assistance is awarded. Many families that qualify for a reduced program fee are not taking advantage of the opportunity simply because they haven't asked to be considered. Once you have completed an application, return it to the

Administration Office, City Hall, 1 East 1st Street, Reno 89501. Upon receipt of the completed application and the required supporting documents it will take approximately 10 business days to review a scholarship request. • Keep your hands to yourself. • You will have a homeroom class for the day, aside from the gym & outside time. • Tables and chairs will be arm’s length to practice physical distancing. • We will be sanitizing our hands when we go into the classroom and leave the classroom. • Please leave your coat on the chair. • We will only be using the supplies that were given to us for the day.

Pick Up & Drop Off Rules Information for children & parents during COVID-19 LIMIT THE TYPE OF ITEMS FROM HOME

• Items children are allowed to bring into the building will be limited. Allowable items include coats. All items must be clean and, if possible, will be wiped down with sanitizing wipes upon arrival to camp. Please also legibly label any personal items with your child’s name. Backpacks are not allowed.

ITEMS FROM HOME

• Children should wear fresh/clean clothing each day. Coats/clothing should be washed daily.

DO NOT ENTER THE BUILDING • No parents will be permitted in the building.

DROP OFF/PICK UP

• Staff will be available to walk children into the building. Drop off times will be 7-9am. Preferred pick up times will be 4-6pm. Please call 334-4280 to make arrangements outside of these hours.

DESIGNATED PERSON

• Parents or persons designated to pick up will need to be on the list and present an ID in order for their child to be released to them.

EMERGENCY CONTACTS

• Parents are asked to provide an extended list of emergency contacts that are able to pick the child up in case of any emergency.

HEALTH NOTIFICATIONS

• Parents are asked to notify staff if any children participating in the program have symptoms or have potentially been exposed and will be asked to sign a document declaring their health status.

SHOWING ANY SYMPTOMS

• If a child exhibits symptoms (fever, dry cough accompanied with a fever, difficulty breathing) they will be separated from the group until they are able to be picked up by a parent or listed emergency contact.

Sierra Kids is a quality recreational enrichment program for children who need a safe, supervised environment before and after school. Sierra Kids operates according to the Washoe County School District schedule in the following elementary schools:

Instructor Guy Yeaman will teach your dog the basic obedience commands. Each dog will need a training collar (choke chain, martingale, harness, etc.) and a four-foot to six-foot fabric or leather leash. VETERAN PROGRAMS Project HERO City of Reno Ages: 18+ | Cost: Free Project HERO (Healing Exercise Rehabilitation Opportunity) provides training and supports cycling programs at military hospitals, Army Transition Units, Marine Wounded Warrior Units and Veterans Affairs locations to help healing heroes. This program offers weekly fitness classes in our facility weight room covering equipment, fitness level

assessment, strength development techniques, fitness goal discussion, endurance and flexibility. Upon completion of four classes, participants will be eligible for a free all-inclusive one year facility membership. This program is funded from a grant provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Adaptive Sports Grant. Military Sports Camp September 13-17, 2021 The City of Reno will host 15 disabled veterans and injured service members with their spouses/guests for a multiday event. There is no cost to military servicemen or women and their guest. Registration preferences will be given to Nevada Service Members and residents.

Tai Chi is a low impact exercise that helps with balance and flexibility and features 37 postures yang style. This Chinese exercise system uses slow, smooth body movements to achieve a state of relaxation of both body and mind. Improve mental and physical health while strengthening the cardiovascular and immune system.

The yoga is not fast paced but teaches you to breathe with the breath and movement. You will learn to open and expand your body and mind in all directions. The yoga practice gives back to you what you have spent in your day. It is a great way to loosen the muscles that get chronically tight from sitting and repetitive movements throughout our days. Come take a moment to just breathe!

This gentle practice of yoga takes you from one relaxing resting pose into the next, encouraging you to give yourself permission to rest. Restorative yoga is a way to loosen the muscles that get chronically tight with inflammation. Relax in the supported pose for 10 to 20 minutes or longer. It will refresh and revitalize your body and mind!

This course is designed to help participants with yoga poses and postures focusing on a gentle movement from a chair or standing beside a chair. This modified yoga program offer ways to help improve strength and flexibility. Stretch and hold poses in simple ways to gradually ease tight joint and muscles and build strength. Regain mobility, coordination, balance and fullness of breath. Leave this class feeling relaxed and refreshed. This is an approved Silver Sneakers course.

This is a gentle movement yoga class. When you are in a pose you are supporting yourself throughout the pose in a particular shape, in awareness and observation which helps achieve the desired benefit to the nervous system, the muscular system, the chemistry, and the fascia and release chronic tension patterns and holdings. This is an easy flowing class so enjoy! No hurry and no worry!

The Mobile Harvest program is a direct service program that allows us to distribute perishable foods such as fresh produce, bread, and dairy into high-need neighborhoods.

Cornhole (also known regionally as bags, sack toss, or bean bag) is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing 16 ounce bags of corn kernels at a raised platform (board) with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the board scores 1 point.

Lap Lanes offers shared lap lanes intended for exercise inclusive to any age and all skill levels. Customers are welcome to use any available equipment offered at each aquatics facility. Lap lanes may be limited; participants are encouraged to practice proper lane etiquette.

Buoyancy takes the impact off leg joints allowing exercises to improve muscular strength, balance and fitness levels. Get high-impact results from a low-impact water workout. No swimming skills are required.

Cyan Park: This 14+ acre park will be under construction this year, with completion planned for late fall 2020 depending on weather. The park will include fenced off-leash areas for dogs, a splash pad, tennis, basketball, bankshot and pickleball courts, a large flat field for youth sports, fitness equipment and expanded parking. The entire park will be closed during construction.

Mayor's Park: Construction began this summer for an improved entry road and parking lot, a permanent restroom and renovations to the large softball field. The project should be completed late this fall.

PARK RENOVATIONS Idlewild Park: The playground adjacent to the pool will be replaced this fall with a state-of-the-art playground with features not included in any other park in northern Nevada.
