Martin and Pam Wygod, California’s leading breeders from 2006 through 2008, announced plans on June 16 to sell their California holdings and relocate their breeding operation to Kentucky. The couple’s 250-acre River Edge Farm in Buellton will be closed and sold, and the farm’s four stallions—

Bertrando, Benchmark, Tribal Rule and Dixie Chatter— will be relocated. A dispersal of approximately 100 broodmares, yearlings and weanlings who are currently owned by the Wygods will be conducted in conjunction with the Barretts Equine Limited/CTBA California Cup Yearling Sale in October.
