This year we have added a new program to the CIT program called Building Bulloch Pride, this program will allow us to expand the program to local area businesses and organizations. We will transport the participants to a different organization each week where they can learn different ways to give back to their community. In order to obtain a position, numerous criteria must be met. Participants must complete 3 weeks of volunteer time to complete the program but have the option to do as many as you would like as well as 2-3 training dates. Participants must complete the full application as well as go through an interview with camp counselors. Participants will assist in all day camp activities as well as volunteer at our participating organizations depending on the week. Please pick up an application at SBCPRD or on www.bullochrec.com. ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SUMMER CAMP!

FIELDTRIPS – Camp Cherokee Only: Fieldtrip money is due a week in advance by the Monday prior to the week your child attends camp. Please be timely with payments – as this will help us in planning! We have the fieldtrips in the computer –and the costs – so if you would like to prepay- please feel free to do so. This will save you time each week when dropping off your child for camp! Some fieldtrips for older children must be paid weeks in advance due to ticket purchasing & group pricing. Fieldtrip Days: Fieldtrip days vary depending on the trip. Please read your weekly letters for the fieldtrip day that week. Normal out of town trip days are: Wednesday: 2nd – 5th Grades Thursday: Prek / Kindergarten / 1st Grade Some local trips may occur any day of the week if we go in small groups. Example: Prek-K might go on Monday, and 1st grade might go on Thursday. *Please wear Camp t-shirt on ALL fieldtrip days. Kids Zone Skill Session – During each week the children will have a skill session in which they could be taken off site to work on a specific skill, please make sure that your child is at camp no later than 8:30am to begin the skill portion. If transportation is needed it will be listed in your weekly letter. Library visits – We will be making regular trips to the library this summer. If your child doesn’t have a library card then please complete the card application included in your packet. Additional Activities include: art, science, games, reading, centers – younger children (blocks, legos, coloring, dress up, dramatic play, etc.), playground activities, music, fitness, etc. Activities are based on weekly themes that are developed by the camp staff. We are a recreation based program and we will have a variety of activities for both inside and outside. Parents are encouraged to sunscreen their child daily – since we will be outside during different times of the day. (Staff will also be reminded to have children sunscreen on occasion). Camp Drop off – we will offer “drop off” in the mornings. We will have staff greeting parents outside from 7:30am until 8:15am. If arriving after 8:15am – you will need to escort your child into camp! LUNCH:

Children will need to BRING THEIR OWN LUNCH each day! No microwavable items.

Scan cards are required!  Pickup requires parents to come inside – and scan out. PLEASE use your scan card! This is for your child’s safety! Even if you know the staff – please USE the cards!!!!  We ask for patience as you pick up your child. In order to have a fun summer – we utilize many different spaces at the schools (which of course means that we have to spread out some). Parents are welcome to come into the camp and find the location where your child is participating in an activity. This will allow you a glimpse at the fun they are having; an opportunity to speak with staff; and will help you to assist your child in a timelier pickup. Please stop at check out desk first. Please be sure to sign your child IN and OUT each and every day. Your diligence in this area will help us in maintaining a safe and secure environment. Educational activities: We will offer several educational activities throughout the summer. We believe this may help our children to maintain a quality learning experience throughout the year. We don’t inundate them with this – but we do offer some activities that will keep them on track, for example: activity sheets, board games, videos, clubs, etc. Please let us know if your child has any disability that would hinder their participation in this type of activity.

Rest Time: PreK & Kindergarten groups will have a rest time each day (12:45 – 1:30). Please send a mat/blanket/pillow if you have one. You may keep these at camp each week – but we encourage you to take home on Fridays and wash! Campers are encouraged to bring a water bottle… often times when they are outside – they like to have a lot of water – this would allow them easy access! Water fountains are available at the camp site. GET TO KNOW YOUR STAFF! Please – feel free to talk with the staff who work with your child. Go in and speak with them about any concerns or questions you may have. We want our staff and parents to communicate about their child. This is necessary to offer the best possible care! Don’t just speak to the site managers… please talk directly with group leaders. These staff truly care about each child – and want to get to know parents as well! Take a few minutes at pickup or drop off to meet these staff! This Summer Camp is also an Inclusive Summer Camp for Children with Special Needs. If you have any questions about our special needs program please contact Alison Brown at 489-9059 or abrown@bullochrec.com. If you have any questions contact Kimberly Sharpe at 764-5637 or 489-9087; ksharpe@bullochrec.com.
