LEARN MORE ABOUT THE SECTOR Learn about the import role of Legal & Compliance sector for Our Company

In addition to our “Super Fatal Five” comic book, this issue contains our new Code of Conduct.

A word from our CEO

Dear colleagues, Over the past two months, key issues for Our Company have come to the forefront. June was a good time to talk about Environment Day, which was celebrated worldwide on June 5th. For three days, our Environment team was on the move around the terminal to drive awareness campaigns on the theme and show how sustainability is part of our everyday life as an essential value for the proper conduct and continuity of our business. After all, our economic growth is only possible when we have responsible social behavior and use natural resources judiciously. Sustainability can only show positive results when there is respect and balance in our relationship with every aspect of the environment. In the following month, July, the focus was Ethics as we organized another successful Annual Ethics Week to reinforce the concepts that guide our professional conduct and sustain our reputation in the market. In the third week of July, we were pleased to publish special content compiling all the commitments made by the Company that we as employees must pursue to consistently and responsibly working together for prosperity. This issue includes an insert featuring BTP’s new Code of Conduct. We want to make sure you have a copy to take home and share with your family too. We firmly believe that continuing practice of the principles shown here will help to make life better for your family too. As parents, we must teach our children good morals and perpetuate them for a decent future full of virtues that we can be proud of.

Accidents. One of the main challenges this year, as you know, is to fully implementing the Fatal 5 Program’s five initiatives for mitigating accidents in our Company. We must celebrate the fact that we have made great progress toward the full aims of this project, which will make our workplaces even safer.

Both Ethics and Social and Environmental Responsibility are BTP’s hallmark values, but above all they are values for the future that we make a point of always sharing with all our stakeholders in the pursuit of development not only for our own conglomerate but for society as a whole too.

To give even more meaning to this commitment that we make every day, let us also remember that our targets are challenges that we must all pursue. They guide our everyday work in pursuit of a BTP that delivers the highest levels of excellence for our customers and profitability for our shareholders. By reaching these targets, everybody wins. During this trajectory, therefore, we must also remember to celebrate small accomplishments that take us towards a BTP that will be even more innovative and better for all of us.

Another subject of great importance to BTP - and therefore prominent among our values is safety. On July 27th we celebrate National Day for Prevention of Occupational

To do so, we must pause to think about our everyday routines and how we do our job, in order to achieve this zero-accident situation. Constantly keeping our equipment in good shape, defensive driving in the terminal and outside of it, constant surveillance of our own behavior and compliance with safety standards are key factors for you and for your colleagues in the workplace to avoid those small slip-ups that may turn into potential fatalities.

In this respect, we ended the month of July on a high note by creating ‘Operational Highlight’. Now, in addition to enhancing safety, we are holding monthly highlights for the teams that get the best results on both truck cycle numbers and productivity. Not only in the month of the Olympics, but also in the coming months, we will recognize focus, dedication and resilience as key elements in the pursuit of our own gold medal. Let’s work together and move forward to make BTP even better for all of us. Regards Antonio Passaro CEO

2nd BTP’s Soccer Cup It is kick-off time and the referee’s whistle starts the 2nd BTP’s Soccer Cup for five-a-side soccer teams. The second championship started June 11 and this year’s matches are being contested by 20 teams of employees from different areas for a thrilling competition. A new development this year was the clash between two women’s teams: Barceloucas and Real Malucas, showing that soccer is a game for everyone. Their leading talents ensured a thrilling group eliminatory stage of the competitions with beautiful moves and great goal-makers on the traditional field of Jabalpur Football Club. The initiative is also part of our improvement program to enhance quality of life for employees, in addition to encouraging people to practice sport and social integration for our people.

Not only do we reward a winning team, but once again we provide relaxation and recreation for employees from different sectors of BTP. This is the team spirit and unity we want to develop for our workforce, on and off the soccer field Hudson Carvalho, Human Resources manager

Let’s congratulate the winning team. In first place - Parça F.C!

On the women’s side, Real Malucas was the winning team with more goals scored too!

Sustainability

Preserving the environment

means preserving life! By: Isabela Bretas

World Environment Day was celebrated on June 5. Next, from June 1 - 5, Our Company held its III Internal Environment Week with a busy schedule of activities. The main objective was to remind employees of the need for responsible use of natural resources and the importance of proper disposal of waste.

TALKS On June 1, the biologist Cassia Cumagai talked about “10 ways of changing the planet,” such as best practices for a sustainable economy with reused resources. On June 3, science PhD Daniela Pareschi addressed the theme “GARBAGE: problems and solutions” and drew attention to the impact on the environment of excessive amounts of solid waste incorrectly generated and disposed every day on our planet.

Concern for the environment is rooted in our culture at BTP. In fact, the project named ‘Our Terminal’ is a great example of environmental restoration. We continue to develop awareness initiatives for the conservation of natural resources and responsible consumption Elisabete Ramos, Environment Manager

GUESSING GAMES Guessing games (or riddles) were the initiatives that aroused most interest among employees. Every day, a challenge was presented at the entrance to the restaurant. People had to guess the weight of a bale of cans, the number of cigarette butts in a bottle, and the number of oil drums BTP shipped for re-refining in 2015.

EXHIBITIONS June 1st and 2nd saw an exhibition of pieces made by seamstresses from a cooperative named for the Dique da Vila Gilda (Cooperdique). They used leftovers from the process of making BTP operational uniforms to make bags, backpacks, cases, personal-care bags and coin holders. Their 25 pieces showed our employees how to reuse various materials to make new objects, which were raffled among the employees attending the exhibition. Our partnership with the cooperative began in 2011, when BTP donated 32 sewing machines, industrial iron and other equipment to the seamstresses of Cooperdique.

While trying to guess the right answer, our Environment Team emphasized the role of Waste Centers in recyclable waste management, the consequences of improper disposal of cigarette butts in natural settings and the importance of proper disposal of used oil.

Our aquatic biota monitoring work was featured by an exhibition on June 3. The team from Consulting, Planning and Environmental Studies (EAPC) came to the terminal to show equipment used for the program and tell employees about their monitoring work.

THEATRICAL INTERVENTION

“ADOPT A MUG” CONTEST Thinking of encouraging reduced use of disposable cups on company premises, we held our “Adopt a Mug” contest. From June 1 - 6, employees were asked to show us the most creative mug they brought in use at work. There were over 35 mugs entered. Once the jury had voted, the three most voted mugs were awarded prizes. Let’s take a look at the winners!

BTP on the agenda By: Isabela Bretas

Safety for one means safety for all!

The Fatal 5 program has evolved and reached the final stage of deployment in Our Company The Fatal 5 Program is reaching the final stage of deployment after a long process of analysis, action plans and analyses. The program’s highly complex and extensive methodology covers all aspects of safety for employees involved in our terminal operations in order to ensure a high-performing workplace in terms of safety with efficacious management of potential accident risks. Since November 2014, when we started rolling out the Fatal 5 process, we have followed up with a period of compiling and assessing all the requisites or the program, and then logging the percentages of each of these requisites in our operations. For each item, depending on the need, an action plan was drawn up followed by planning for its execution. In the course of the year 2015, specific actions that did not require major investment were carried out immediately, while those requiring more planning was scheduled for the following year.

Rather than reviewing and adjusting procedures and structures, Fatal 5 solidifies a comprehensive safety framework in which every aspect is planned to ensure well-being for all who work at our terminal or pass through it. RogĂŠrio Bighi, occupational safety manager

We are now in 2016 and all the elements present in Fatal 5 have been 90% deployed or more, with only a few steps to get everything fully in place. Below we have revisited some of the main initiatives that have been incorporated into our safety culture:

Transport Traffic Management Plan (TMP)

This program shows internal traffic rules to keep men and machines separate for a safer environment.

Stored energy Compiling a "stored energy" inventory

An inventory mapping stored energy points at BTP, showing type of energy, applicable operational procedures, and other information.

Lockout and tag out procedure (LOTO)

Deploying procedures for locking, blocking and tagging sites at which stored energy is being used.

Management of Change (MOC)

MOC determines procedures for the identification and assessment of risks involved in the operations that will be modified for some reason, such as new procedures or equipment.

Working at heights Fitting lifelines

Cables connected from one end to another (usually higher) for operator to hook their safety harness while working at heights.

Upgrading current cages for working at heights and purchasing new certified cages

Repairing existing cages for a safer work.

Suspended loads and hoists Inspection and control of materials and accessories for hoisting loads

Strict control of load hoisting accessories (cables, belts, buckles) and periodic inspections.

GestĂŁo de Contratados Implementation of RSCT (Safety Benchmark for Contracting Third Parties) and a Third Party Periodical Audit program.

06

Document that lists Occupational Safety, Health and Environment requirements applied to outsourcers before beginning each activity and periodic evaluation of contractors based on these requirements.

The job never stops. The teams involved in the process are committed to executing the latest measures planned to have the program 100% in place before the originally stipulated deadline. See the next steps to be taken below:

Action Training for employees involved in the Traffic Management Plan.

Transport

80%

Deploying the integration project for outside truck drivers. Draft work instruction and training for RTG / RS / EV operators to paralyze activities whenever a truck driver / TT operator leaves the cabin during handling operations. Lifeline fitted for washer / fillers.

Working at heights

93%

Repairing mobile units for working at heights (cages). Training on high work platforms for employees who use them.

Train supervisors for operation, maintenance and material used for hoisting loads.

Suspended loads and hoists

98%

Include information on load and material hoisting in operating shift reports. Inventory BTP (and rented) stowage materials, develop scheduled inspections and request material reports.

Stored energy

IBAMA room In June, Our Company opened a room for the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Resources (IBAMA) to control cargos subject to its oversight. BTP terminal was Brazil’s first to provide facilities exclusively for the agency’s activities. In this space, agents from IBAMA’s Santos regional office started in-person services in BTP’s customs bonded premises to control exports of forest products and byproducts as well as imported pesticides.

10th Open Talk with officers

web vídeo

These opportunities to chat with officers reached their 10th iteration on June 24. Just over a year after the first meeting, 104 employees have participated and about 100 contributions (including suggestions and questions) have been received. Of these ideas, more than 13 have already been implemented and are now part of company procedures. The program is continuing and up to 10 employees may apply to present their views, ideas and get answers to questions about the business.

In-company TV Following the trend, which shows video watching on the internet has grown considerably, we started our own TV carrying online videos lasting up to 30 seconds - yet another a platform available to keep up with the main issues related to our business, in addition to presenting our portfolio of services and competitive advantages. Videos will be posted on BTP’s social networks every month. Follow us!

Winter clothing campaign For another year, our company has been active as a partner of the Social Solidarity Fund in Santos for the 11th Winter Clothing Campaign. In all, we collected about 150 pieces from May to July and all donations were sent to the Social Fund, which distributed them through the region’s social organizations.

New cages We have recently acquired two new portable units for working at heights, also known as height work cages. The two new cages have been certified and meet all Fatal Five safety requirements. These cages enabled us to remove currently used equipment for renovation and adaptation to safety requirements. When this maintenance service is done, we will have five mobile units for working at heights.

ZIM event On June 25, shipping company ZIM held a charity event called “navy-action for good in order to collect diapers and milk for the Integrated Center for Assisting Cancer Patients (local acronym CENIN). BTP supported the campaign by donating 50kg of powdered milk to help the cause and entered a team to compete in the festive games organized by the company. Our team failed to get a high score but we all got to be winners in the compassion category!

Open channel Our Open Channel is a new means of communication devised to encourage contact and strengthen exchange of information and experiences among employees and our officers. At quarterly meetings, large groups of employees can now share ideas, suggest improvements and ask questions about our Company and our business. Each meeting is divided into two sessions - one for engineers and supervisors, the other employees in general, focusing on operations teams.

Legal & Compliance: ethics and transparency Advising the company on legal issues, solutions and preventive risk practices are just some of the functions of the Legal & Compliance sector of our company. Mindful of the many issues related to the business, the sector’s activities reach well beyond bureaucratic procedures to actively participate in strategic decisions and ensure that everyone involved in our day to day practice is following ethical standards in accordance with rules and regulations applied. The sector was established in 2011 and consists of Vívian Carvalho Yamauti, Legal & Compliance Manager, Viviane de Camargo, attorney and Camila Santos minor apprentice. Legal procedures and documents covered by the team’s work include commercial and supplier contracts, drafting and custody for powers of attorney, safekeeping for licenses, drafting minutes for approval by BTP’s board of directors, analyzing and progressing e- mails received by the Ombudsman, monitoring all legal and administrative proceedings and delivering legal advice to the various sectors of our company. “To ensure BTP is current with local and international laws that apply to our activities is the main purpose of the Legal & Compliance sector,”Vivian explains. Ultimately, what is Compliance? The English term may be translated as “in accordance with laws and regulations’. Compliance relates to all regulations, policies, and directives and laws applicable to our business, internally or externally, to avoid the possibility of acts detrimental to BTP’s integrity and positive image. Compliance risks include malfeasance, fraud, situations resulting in undue advantage, and other inappropriate actions. Our Company operates aligned with legal and regulatory requirements and avoids risks. The sector is responsible for preparing training content to highlight the importance of following ethics-based rules as one of our institutional values. Of all the content we have developed, our ‘Code of Conduct’ is the main tool for fostering our values which guide our behavior in the simplest and most complex situations, thus ensuring that whenever a decision is taken, every employee is prepared to act safely on behalf of our company. “The Code of Conduct’s first version was drafted in 2014 and posted in our Public Folder through procedure P / RH.008. This year, we are feeling the need to facilitate access reading and

comprehension of its contents. We have therefore reformulate al content and language to make it more concise and dynamic,” says Vivian. The document sets forth BTP’s expectations in terms of the attitudes of its employees and other stakeholders involved and explains the guiding principles that they must follow in accordance with the commitment structure. The new ‘Code of Conduct’ guidelines include guidance on labor relations, compliance with law, conflicts of interest, interaction with government officials, diversity and inclusion, relationship with the media and conduct on social networks among other matters. This new format was rolled out during the Ethics Campaign, also promoted by the sector in the week July 18 to 22. Related communications were published and a talk about the main points covered in the Code of Conduct and current legislation was given by the legal office of Trench, Rossi e Watanabe for officers, managers and coordinators to act as multiplier agents for their teams. Legal & Compliance sector uses a series of procedures, campaigns and training programs to propagate ethics and transparency and support our Company. Note that this commitment and responsibility applies to all employees. Therefore, it is important to strictly follow laws and BTP’s internal rules, not only the Code of Conduct. If in doubt, ask your immediate manager, or contact the manager of Legal & Compliance sector. Remember! Only take action if you are sure that it will not pose any risk for you, your colleagues or BTP.

Our annual Ethics campaign raises employees’ awareness of their responsibility and updates their knowledge of this important value for our company. This year, we are addressing issues related to the ‘Ethics and Compliance’ theme and celebrate our commitment to our new Code of Conduct

Do you know what BTP’s Ombudsman does? Our Ombudsman channel was specially created to report conduct or suspected conduct that may be deemed a violation of current legislation and / or BTP’s internal policies. The channel may also be used for forwarding other matters that, in their judgment could undermine our Company’s values and principles. If you have any questions about inappropriate conduct, feel free to ask. E-mail details of the situation to ouvidoria@btp.com.br.

Joel Contente, corporate affairs head and responsible for the sector

Our Company

The focus is on continuous improvement! By: Isabela Bretas

In June, our company started the process of upgrading our SAP information system that integrates all BTP’s financial data. The initiative adds to efficiency and better use of tools available in the system by automating processes and integrating SAP modules. The project also optimizes the system’s ability to meet the needs of our business in the short, medium and long term, in line with our company’s perspectives for the future.

Employee members of our SAP Committee Committee members are responsible for defining the project’s strategies and directing its work: Juliana Mansur and Douglas Hayasaki (Tax Accounting), Kátia Shnaptis (Controllership), Tiago Falasca (Commercial), Fabio Pascotto (Procurement) and Fabiana Alencar (IT).

For the first few months, we followed a process of identifying points for improvement in daily practice and spotting opportunities for strategic gains. The study was conducted by a consulting firm in partnership with our SAP Committee. This stage included interviews with employees from different business areas, including system users and non-users too. The aim was to understand particulars aspects of each business area’s activities, so that employee practices and experiences contribute to the survey and map the company’s needs. The next steps include executing and controlling several actions identified until the SAP system reaches the level of performance expected. The longterm project reflects BTP’s commitment to continuous improvement. Periodically reviewing our processes in the quest for excellence keeps us more competitive and motivated to achieve better results.

Pride and confidence that inspire and transform lives Not everyone has the grit to operate an STS in a cabin 41 meters from the ground, which is 3 meters higher than the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. The equipment was used by Ronney Meira who has been breading records for container movements ever since he started working in the Port of Santos at age 26, and earned a reputation around the region’s terminals. Now aged 49, Ronney is a technical training instructor with our company and he told us about his career at the port until he discovered his calling: transmitting his knowledge for training and developing new operators. Ronney started his career at the port in 1993 on a temporary contract through Sindogeesp, the port union. He recalls seeing cranes from afar at the time but he could not imagine working at those enormous heights. A few years later, after being employed at another of the region’s terminals, he trained as an operator certified to work on almost every type of port terminal equipment. He is proud of having been in the first class of STS operators trained by the Brazilian Navy in 2000. Over the next few years, his focus on productivity made other operators take notice and Ronney was soon passing on his experience with equipment. By 2012, he was one of 10 selected from all over Brazil to train as an instructor based on Maersk Training Brasil methodology and he then joined BTP’s team. When taking Maersk’s 8-month training course, he says he let go of everything he knew about operator work so that he could absorb new concepts on a clean slate. “Everything I learned in talks and teamwork practice sessions made me evolve and take on the approach and conviction expected of an instructor,” says Ronney. When BTP became the only port terminal in South America to acquire an Ari Crane Simulator, this technology became a powerful assistant for his development as an instructor. The resources provided by the simulator are critical to the success of classes because they allow students to make mistakes, understand them and learn how to fix them without defects, damage or consequences. Known at the terminal as the ‘simulator big daddy’, the instructor who had been seen as a very shy person, he has now trained some 300 operators over the past 3 years. “First, I try to get a person on my side, earn their trust, and then convey the sense of responsibility and safety that the future operator must have out there,” says Ronney. As a perfectionist, he likes to keep everything in the training room organized in line with the week’s schedule. His routine consists of preparing lessons and handouts and reviewing operational procedures to

identify any improvements, arranging schedules and greeting external visitors. As a member of the Human Resources Department, Ronney also supports activities involving its documentation and other demands. If there is an operational fault or weak performance, an operator is sent on a refresher course. We find their most critical point and work to improve it on the simulator and other equipment. Through this opportunity, we can add up to 20% to the operating capacity of each STS operator. It is very rewarding to be able to participate in this evolution because the terminal is like a gearing mechanism: when everybody is aware of their role and is in the correct position, the work flows along and helps boost productivity Ronney Meira, technical training instructor

Ronney believes that the respect and trust shown by everybody at his work have been crucial for his growth. He becomes emotional when he talks of the recognition he finds at BTP and elsewhere. He says that when passing by OGMO workers at the terminal, they joke “this guy is the works.” When he meets former students accompanied by their families, he recalls that they are keen to present him as “the teacher who taught them how to work.” His motivation keeps Ronney on the go. Recently, he has been attending classes for small forklift operators at Sest Senat to keep up to date and use them at the terminal too. Do not be fooled by Ronney’s collection of 18 tattoos. Born in Santos, he’s a homely guy who has lived in Guaruja for 8 years with his wife Rosana Marques and two children Giovanna (14) and João Gabriel (8). In his spare time, his priority is family time and activities such as theater, cinema and evenings at the beach, as well as weight training to stay in shape. In the future, Ronney hopes to learn English and acquire more knowledge to teach the people attending training sessions, thus contributing to their development and qualification, while showing humility, determination and respect for other people. “I take satisfaction when I see people being happy and successful,” he adds.
