Your Majesties - Patrick & Vicki - congratulations on a successful year. You raised money, reached out beyond our borders of the Gay Community, welcome old members back & new members to our Society, restored old bridges & built new ones. But you didn’t do it alone. Thank you.
You had an amazing Upper House, Court & Executive Board. Premier Brian Brine you stepped in & stayed true to our goals. Secretary - Doug Bennett the hard work of scribing our voices from a recorder‌, sorry for the nightmares, hahaha. Treasurer - Steven Poole you balanced our books & made us laugh doing it. Coronation - Allan Dowding tonight is your hard work & dedication. Advisor - Linda Publicover your words help move us forward & kept us together. Thank you.
As Prime Minister, I balanced my own job & Finances, and at times, the Events, the Elections, the Protocol & the Script as well as putting together the Second Annual Toy Drive. This job is never easy, but I do what I can with what I have & only hope it is the right decision at the right time.

Emperor’s Address Good evening everyone. Thank you for all of you who came out for tonight’s festivities. As I write my step down letter, I don’t even know where to begin. To my Executive Board: Thank you for being there all the way! You guys did an amazing job this year. We had tough times and we had great times. Joseph, you did a fantastic job, and kicked our butts to get the job done, and so did we did our job! Brian: Thank you for being our Premier this year! Fantastic Job! Doug: Thank you forpicking up the mail! Allan: Thank you for stepping up being our Coronation Minister this year! Steven:Gurl! For someone being blind, you did great job being our Treasurer this year. A special thank you to Linda Publicover to open her home for the meetings, and get togethers. A Special Congratulations to Empress Nina Diamonds for winning the Jose Award this year!I am so proud to represent my city this year and for the first time in history of the Court, Halifax is being awarded for all the hard work that everyone is doing. To my ICP’s: Brian and Dale...well boys, we made it! You both have made me so happy, you both should be very proud of yourselves. Thank you Brian for being our Premier and also my ICP, it is not an easy task. Dale, thank you for support us this year, we had a lot of fun...I love you both very much. This night is alsoyours, you deserve it and enjoy! To My In-Town Emperors 15 1/2 Lee Bent. From the first time we meet, I am so glad you accepted my In-Town Half. You were there to help us out a lot this year. I cannot Thank you enough. We have collected many great memories, but most importantly, we have raised money for many charities. Once again thank you for putting the ballprogram together again this year! Cameron. Thank you for your guidance and feedback, I always admire that. To my executive board members. Thank you for being there for me, and guiding through the past 12 months, I am very happy where we are standing and we did a fantastic job! I appreciate that very much. To my Out-of- Town Emperor 15 1/2 Robert McQueen: Well where can I start; the first time we met is you were here in Halifax and when I joined the court. You have been one of my favorite out of town people, and I am so honored you are my Out-of- Town Emperor this year. I am also honored to be your Out of Town Haf for your reign as well. We had so much fun when we travelled to some amazing coronations that I will never forget. Thank you for helping me out this year directly and indirectly and always being there to talk. Opi N Yated: You have been incredible this year! I admire, respect you a lot. We had amazing times when we travelled and waited for each other at the airport lol. I was bummed that I couldn’t go to your step down this year, but I’m so glad we met through other cities. Thank you for supporting me, and
being my half,. You are an amazing guy. Jason Dickson: We just met last year, on your birthday weekend, here in Halifax, and I am happy you are my half this year. I am sure we will have a wonderful friendship that will always be there. To my Hamilton friends: I have met al ot of you for the first time last year, and I was honored to meet these wonderful people. Thank you for let me stay at your places while I was up in Ontario for 3 weeks (Robert George, Robin Derring, Tasha and Michael Stevens). And I can’t wait to do it again this year! London: I can’t wait to see you guys again this year! Toronto: I want to thank Shayla, Dotti and Allan for coming to support Morgan and Hunter James, you guys rock and I am very happy to meet you this year. Michelle DuBarry, congratulations on your world record for the oldest drag performer! You still rock and I am proud to say that I am your friend. Portland: This was my very first time to the west coast EVER! I had an amazing time with amazing people that I’ve met, and I was proud to represent Halifax for the 50th Gala Anniversary. Last, but not least, my Empress Mz Vicki. Where do I start...? I remember the first time I met you 8 years ago and you have been an inspiration to my life. You have been incredible and boy did we do things differently this year. Without you, I wouldn’t be successful. We can relax this weekend and enjoy the drive! I am proud to say that I am your neighbor but I am also your Emperor! If for any reason you are not mentioned above, or I have forgotten anyone, please know that you were a great part of this past year and will ALWAYS be in my heart! Good evening everyone. I want to personally thank everyone for attending tonight’s festivities, and for being part of this year. This has been one of the most amazing times of my life! Sometimes, life throws a curveball in your direction. It did a few times to me, leaving me thinking why I am doing this again for the third time. But tonight I stand before you, with overwhelming emotions, knowing there are so many people that have affected my life. But I must confess, without you none of it would have been possible or as memorable as it has been. I have found courage, strength, love, and support, I never dreamed possible. As I lookback it feels like an amazing journey. To my ICP Shayla, We made it GUUURL! You have made me so happy, for all the things you have done for us this year. You should be very proud of yourself! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We had a lot of fun. I love you very much. To my Halifax court, Grace Abounds: Thank you for being there for me all these years. One of those days, you will be an amazing Empress. Love you always. To my Grand Duchess, Misty. You’ve come a long way girl. I’m so proud of you. What can I say? Dotti Rose: Thank you for helping out being our Communication Minister this year, and thank you for all the dedicated support you have been giving us all year. Joseph: What can I say? You rocked this year for us, as Prime Minister, and I cannot thank you enough for guiding us all the way to the end of our Reign. You are an amazing person, although bitchy at times,but we all love you. To my In-Town Halves 15 1/2 Paige Turner: thank you for being a sister to me all these years. And it was great having you as part of my Reign as In-Town half this year. C-Leah Cruise: I would like to thank you for being be my In-Town Half this year. You remember when you first ran for Empress, I was your In-Town Half. Pay back’s a bitch, ain’t it? To my Out-of- Town 15 1/2 Monroe: What can I say? You are fabulous, gorgeous, stunning and I’m honored to be one of your friends. Miss Drew: you’re like a baby sister who teaches me about beauty. You are so stunning and I’m grateful for you being my half, twice at that (!), and being there for me. I cannot thank you enough. Shauna Starr, What can I say guuurl? We go so back long time ago, to when you were my Emperor and I was your Empress, and the support you give me as a best friend. I want to congratulate you on your reign in Calgary, I am sorry I missed your step down. I always love you. When I was in Hamilton, I met this wonderful, funny, fabulous lady - Robin Derring. What can I say, guurl, say it for us old gurlls – you’re living my liver! Cheers.
Last but not least, to my Emperor, Patrick. What can I say? When you became a member 4 years ago, I never thought I would have been Empress with you. I had a great year with you, and I’m honoured to have been part of your year. We said we would put this year on the right path and we did. This is the best thing that happened in a long time. I am so proud, and I love you. Thanks for being my Emperor. Bravo! If for any reason you are not mentioned above, or I have forgotten anyone. Welcome one and all. This year has been a very busy one - from the moment I arrived, becoming Coronation Minister, to Premier and ICP 15 this year. To my Emperor, Patrick Roy: through this year, you have proven that you are strong and brilliant, and continue to do so. Even through some darkest hours, thank you for allowing me to stand by your side. My lovely Lady Mz Vicki DeKnight: you are a force to reckon with. You have proven that nothing can, and will, keep you down. It was an honor to stand by your side and help you through this wonderful year. To my brother and friend, ICP Dale Johnson, thank you being there, even during your own busy year. To my ICP wife, Shayla Shenanigans, what can I say that isn’t on a police report. Love you. Thank you Mr Bruce Crooks: thank you for the shoulder and the ears and the voice of sanity on more than one occasion. To Dottie Rose: our chats and your humour. I will treasure them truly. To my Emperor Patrick and Empress Vicki and fellow courtiers Thank you so much for asking me to be part of your year and this wild ride. It has been great. Each reign has its own style and its ups and downs. More ups than downs. It was a lot of hard work, but we have all made it. It was great to be able to tell and explain to people what the Court is all about, and that we give up a year, or more, of our lives,and donate our time to fundraise for charities. I had the honour of being ICP 15 with two other great people - Brian Brine and Shayla Shenanigans. It was fun. We worked hard and it was worth it. With the guidance of our Emperor and Empress we have all made it. Our Emperor and Empress reigned with class and grace. And I thank you. SHAYLA A wise man once said “you cannot teach an old dog new tricks”. Well, this could not be further from the truth because this year not only have I learned a lot, I have grown as well. Seeing the amount of effort and hard work we as a community and organization have done this past year has left me utterly speechless! I am in awe of the work we have done,and I am profoundly honored to have served alongside such amazing people! I was taught by my grandmother growing up, that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but instead a sign of strength. I have seen great examples of her throughout this year and I know she would be smiling and looking down at me on this glorious day. A Princess does not just symbolize a fairytale, or bring to mind many Disney movies, but it’s an idea a title that means a lot to many people. Many iconic, strong women have been a Princess, but what it means to me is growing up in a foster home at the age of 6, and being told I can dream and be anything I wanted to be. Playing with my Barbies, I wanted to be a Princess, because of what a Princess represented to me. This year I discovered things about myself I would not have otherwise discovered without the amazing people on this journey with me. I would like to take this time to thank Mz Vicki! Without you, I would not be the person I am today. I value your friendship and admire how brave and kind you are. The word “No” is not in your vocabulary and I respect you more for that. You will always say “yes” and always give without ever wanting something in return. For that I will always cherish you and have profound love and respect for you. PATRICK!!! WOW! you did it babe! i remember growing up with you when we were just little twinks! Now look at us! – old, tired queens. Well at least one of us! <winks!> I am so proud of you! You have done so much and continue to amaze me! Congratulations on an amazing year! My dearest Prince husbands!! Dale and Brian. You both deserve a purple heart for bravery, for having to put up with me for an entire year! I love and adore you two so much! I was prettier, worked harder and was a better person because you two were there to help guide me! Thank you for an amazing year! To my Board! it has been a privilege and an honor to be the Finance minister this year, with you all on the board! We worked so hard together, and achieved so much together. I know we still have a lot to do but I know we can get it done efficiently, and with very minor costs. Every dollar counts, and I am very happy with our outcome this year! We totally put the “Fun” back into fundraising! My last blurb is for Jozef. My dearest Prime Minister. You wear your heart on your sleeve and you are so kind and enduring. The level of compassion you show for the charities is beyond what words can describe. I am so proud of what you have done for the IWK. and with the toy drive. The IWK has a special place in my heart and although every kid in that hospital would pick Spiderman or Batman as their favorite superhero, you, my dear, are my superhero! But with a leather cape of course! In conclusion, we, as a community, have a responsibility to help one another and to be kind to one another. We all cry together. We all laugh together, but the most important thing is, we all come together as a community. And a united community is a strong community! From One Brother Too Another Much has happened over this past year and I must say, my Brother Patrick, I am very proud of you and what you have done for the Imperial Court of Halifax and All of Nova Scotia. Our chats online were helpful, not only for you I hope, but definitely when I needed someone to talk to you were there my friend. A most pivotal point in both our lives was representing our cities in Portland Oregon and I hope your city understands that you did them proud. I was so happy that you were able to make that trip and we experienced that one together. A huge thank you goes out to your other Half Emperor from New York City, Opi. What he did for you in Portland went above the line of duty and just seeing the tears in your eyes was all I needed to see and know that your heart is and always will be in the right place. To all of the Court members of Halifax and All of Nova Scotia, I say thank you as well. Halifax still remains the only Imperial City that has honored me in the past as a Half Emperor, and with Commandâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s. Halifax, the entire East Coast for that matter will always be my Home Away From Home. I love each and every one of you. Thank you to Gerry and Linda Publicover for all the times you have let me over stay my welcome each year in your beautiful home. My East Coast mom and dad, I love you both.
