Good evening. Welcome to our beautiful city. Please enjoy the food, the drink and the hospitality. Another year has come and gone, along with a Board of Directors that has had to face the business side of ISCANS with ethical, moral and legal responsibilities, together with decisions that uphold the integrity of ISCANS. This is first and foremost a fundraising Society and a Business with a great reputation with the City’s Registry of Joint Stocks. Thank you to my Premier Allan - I have drinks with our names on them. to my Treasurer Chris – you came on board and quickly learned the ins-and-outs and still agreed to be a candidate! All the best, Beautiful. To my Dowager, Patrick - you stuck round, now that speaks volumes. To my Coronation Minister, Blake – you jumped in with both feet: tonight will be incredible, thank you for taking on the biggest event we stage and still becoming a candidate. All the best my Big Bear. To our Advisor, Linda - voice of reason and my confidant. To my secretary, Bruce , you have guided us through, and helped us to focus on our accountability and integrity. My bear, my husband! To my Emperor Brian Brine, and Empress Dotti Rose: I promised success. Good Evening Welcome to Coronation 17. To our past and present Majesties, dignitaries, courtiers and special guests, we weolcome you to our warm, beautiful city of Halifax. Thank you to our Board of Director, Prime Minister - Daddy Jozef Treasurer - Chris Burns Coronation - Blake Smith Secretary - Bruce Crooks Dowager - Patrick Roy I would like to say “Thank You” to London, and their great hospitality. And to Brian Hines and Empress 2 Madison Hart for sharing the trip and representing Halifax with pure elegance. A big thank you goes to our Elected Emperor 16 Brian Brine, and Empress 16 Dottie Rose, for their out going personalities, and for going out and raising monies for their charities. Thank you both letting me be part of this year. The time has come for the two of you to take a step back and relax, and please remember to hold your heads up high and be PROUD of what you both have accomplished. Emperor’s Message WTF…….Welcome to my Birthday Party. Oh wait - that was earlier this week. HA! HA! Now that I have your attention…. Good evening to family, friends, in town guests, out of town guests and fellow courtiers. I’m hoping not to forget anyone with this, hopefully, not too long and lengthy message. This has been a year of rewards, challenges, obstacles and lots of hard work. Yet I write this message with a sense of regret that the year is over but also “Holy Crap” the year is over. Where to start? I will try and hope not to forget anyone and if I do, I give you my deepest apologies. First and foremost, the Atlantica Hotel for the last 10 years for accommodating our sometimes needy details and to helping achieve this wonderful and magical evening. It’s funny, I knew where to start, but somehow words escape me, but I will try to finish this message with all of my best and love to the following: To the Board: your ideas, your innovations, your courage and support was incredible the year. Thank you. To my ICPs Richard Blake Smith: Your talent, your courage and your determination the year have been incredible. You are a clear example that anything can and will be achieved. Bruce Crooks: You have been words of wisdom. You have been a shoulder to lean on and to know that you are not only my friend, but someone I am very proud to call family. I love you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Chris Burns (Chinchilla Duvet): You have come a long way baby. You have entered this year with grace under pressure, have maintained composure, and have blossomed into a truly wonderful drag performer and amazing friend. Christopher Hagen (Miss Oso): Thank you for the encouragement, and so glad you kept the beard. It was time to mix it up this year, and you did just that. Robert McQueen: My dear friend, thank you for your listening ear, words of advice, and for probably keeping me out of jail with those words. LOL Davie Nite: your laughter, your kindness, and just being my friend, was wonderful this year. Linda and Gerry Publicover: Thank you for opening your home to us this year for our monthly meetings, your kindness and somehow keeping a level head during parts of a difficult year.
To Menz & Mollyz bar: Thank you for the space, the stage and being so supportive throughout this year. A special shout out goes to Trish Krueger: Girl, you are amazing at what you do and many thank you and hugs when you are up for it. To my Leather Ambassadors: Mark Donavan (Dallas); Your love and support this year has been incredible, thank you. JJ Velour (Edmonton) Thank you for representing Halifax during this year, and I did enjoy seeing you this year (even though I know you like only my leather pants) Ha! Ha! Joey Benten (Las Vegas) So glad that we got to know each other better and we managed to overcome certain obstacles, and you stayed. Your unbelievable generosity and love this year has been incredible. Leith Chu (Charlottetown); You never cease to amaze me. That you travel so far, yet so near, to come and support and help us this year has been wonderful. There are no words to described your generosity and kindness this year. So happy you are part of my life and proud to call you friend. Steve Laviolette (Moncton): honoured to call you friend and so happy you were a part of this year. Al Turner (Winnipeg): Nice to know your only a phone call away if I need advice on “you know who”. LOL Dowager Emperor Patrick Roy: thank you Out of Town Halves: Kerry Barrett (Regina): You will forever my friend, I love you, adore you and will always have a special place in my heart and are always welcome in my house (If you need a place to hide) Douglas Sromberg (Palm Spring): According to my memory, you are one of my oldest and dearest friends that go back almost 20 years. From Toronto, to San Francisco, So happy that you are here to help celebrate this year and this evening. Thank you. (I need to come visit Palm Springs) Allan Dowding (Premier): I know it probably hasn’t been easy being Premier and being married to the Empress( ha ha). Whichever is more difficult, you decide. But you were able to stay and hang in there and I thank you. In Town Half: Dale Johnson: Your friendship, love and support and incredible fudge has been an asset this year. Thank you. This next thank you will be in two parts, so please bear with me: Prime Minister, In Town Half, Father of the Reign and Heir Apparent, Phew… I think that’s all. Ha Ha. Jozef Crooks: If anything I have learned from this year is that I have never met anyone who has drive, passion, and goals to make this the most incredible year. Your energy is without
words, your innovation, your ability to stay focus and your determination to see us through this year, will never cease to amaze me. From the bottom of my heart, there are not enough “thank yous”. To my Leather Daddy Jozef: when I decided to take on this role as Emperor, I knew what I was getting into but I didn’t. We were tested, yelled and screamed at, and yes, had bad days, but we managed to stick it out, maintain our sanity (somewhat) and were able to see it through. Your support, love and advice, words of wisdom, guidance, and yes, tolerance (on both our parts ) he,he…managed to help me and you to get to the end of this year with, what I’m hoping, will help us decide on future endeavours. Thank you, for being there, by my side, by giving me love and first and foremost being my Leather Daddy. To my Empress Dotti Rose: To be blunt, what the hell were we thinking. We have fought, argued, disagreed and not always seen eye to eye but we survived this year. We managed to reach our goal and then some. I thank you for your friendship, love and by standing by my side to keep our heads up held high and to continue to raise money and to make wonderful memories. This has been a wonderful, but yet difficult, year, at times but again we survived and tonight we celebrate. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

I would first like to thank HMISM Emperor 17 Brian Brine for allowing me the honour of representing you as your ICP. I would like to congratulate both our Majesties on a successful year and the hours we spent together raising money for your charities was a great time.I would like the thank HMISM Empress 17 Dotti Rose for allowing me to share in your year. Our travels to Hamilton Coronation was a blast and enjoyed our time together. You should both walk holding your heads high on a year well done. Thank you for your encouragement and helping me grow this year. I would like to thank our community for their support over the last year and their ongoing commitment to supporting the Court and the community to which we work along side of. I would like to thank Deva Station and Dyna for all your encouragement and support over the last year. To Rouge Fatale and the Troup, thank you for many shows you invited us to and allowed us to do the boot. There are so many people to thank over the past year that I could not list you all. I would like to thank all our Out of Town guests for coming in and celebrating this weekend with us. Thank you for your continued support and hope you enjoy your weekend here in Halifax. Empress Message Greetings and Welcome - Fellow Monarchs, Ladies and Gentlemen, and distinguished guests from In and Out of Town, and members of our community. We are Proud to Welcome you to Our Beautiful City of Halifax. Well, where to start is a huge question, but to save face I will start from the beginning. It was a year ago when I decided to take this journey and adventure, becoming one of two Good Will Ambassadors for the city of Halifax and All of Nova Scotia. It has been a whirl wind of a year, from travelling, to fundraisers and shows, and it is a little sad that this part of the journey is about to be over. But not before I send out a lot of “thank you”s and a huge debt of gratitude to those that have helped and made this journey so enjoyable. First and foremost, I am going to thank those people that put faith in me and voted me in as Empress XVl . I hope that I have not let you down. I wish to thank my Husband, Allan Dowding for standing beside me. I know with all my griping at times, it could not of been easy for you and for that I love you. The Executive Board, that consisted of our Prime Minister, Jozef Crooks - I know we would not of been as successful if it were not for your dedication and the endless hours that you gave to this Organization. To Our Premier, Allan Dowding - thank you for your support; Treasurer, Chris Burns - thank you for keeping the finances straight; Secretary, Bruce Crooks - thank you for keeping everything straight and the records updated; Coronation, Richard Blake Smith - thank you for helping us get what we wanted for our Stepdown; our Dowager Emperor, and also College Rep and Elections, Patrick C Roy - for all your hard work, and to Mz Vicki for her outstanding help with makeup, advice and encouragement, and going out on weekends to help us raise money for the Charities. Love you All!! Now to the nitty gritty: Our first event of the year was Pride - walking and greeting people was a great experience. Then it was off to Hamilton, with Blake Smith, to celebrate the stepping down of Emperor Michael Stevens and Empress Tasha Stevens and stepping up of Dusty Balfour and Keiron Keegan. This was an amazing time. On this occasion, I also had the great opportunity to sit down with Teighlor Davis - thanks for the laughs and good times. Shada Black and Shanice Mccoy-Patton, thank you for being there to talk to, and for the words of encouragement and strength and laughter. Dru Summers – you’re amazing. Frederick Druer - thank you for everything; your encouraging words and laughter meant a lot to me. Dusty Balfour, Morgan James, Veronique DeHoe, Thelma Bouvier, Miss Drew, Jill Davis, Mamma Acorn, Bryan Greenwood, James Pawley, Tatyana Romanov, Jacqueline Walp, Linda Smamrock, Thomas Branscum, Hyddie Hoe, Jordan Panther-Brant, ICP Vl Darren - thank you ALL so very much for everything. Many names could be mentioned, but I do not want to leave anyone out, so each of you know the conversations we had and how much they meant to me. Everyone was so very kind to me and made me feel so very welcomed. Thanks to Brian Hines and Madison Hart for taking me to London’s Coronation, to Robert McQueen and Tracy Daniels DuBarry’s step down a week and a half after I got home from Hamilton. London was very enjoyable in so many ways; chatted with so many people and lots
of laughter. The chats with Victoria No Secrets were very memorable (thank you girl for everything). Christopher Dustin - it was a pleasure meeting you. Thank you to Robert McQueen for the honor of an award, I was truly touched by your thoughtfulness. It was such a pleasure to be there for the stepping up of Magenta and Jen Sen Wren - two wonderful people whom I had the opportunity to sit down and speak with. Thank you for this: you proved to me that just being who you are, and being proud, is who we should be. Thank you to Ginette Perreault, Anna Leclere and Mark Donavan for conversations and support - love you. To The Glamazon Army - Rouge Fatale, Eureka Love, and Farrah Moan, and to the Drag King Community - thank you for allowing us to come out and fund raise. Thank you to Deva Station for taking time out of your busy schedule for a photo shoot, and to Keri Mia Way for the make-up tips and for your friendship. At Coronations, no matter where they are, we meet with a common goal of support and friendship and love. The hospitality in Hamilton and London was incredible; everyone was so nice to me and made me feel like I was a part of this huge, phenomenal family, and for that, each of you will always be in my heart. I would like to thank my ICPs Miss Oso and Chinchilla Duvet for stepping up and helping out as much as you were able to do so. To my In-Town Half, Starr Dupont Santos and Heir, PaigeTurner Rod Smith - you both were so encouraging, and I am so thankful and honored that you accepted this role this year in Support. Love you both. Linda Publicover - I would not have made it through this year without your listening ears, your encouragement and Love and Laughter. Your strength, at my lowest, was enough to brighten my life each day. Love you my second Mama forever. You are The Rock of All Ages to me and for so many others. You listen when we need to just let things go, you are the shoulder to cry on when we need it, and the voice of reason, and the smile of all smiles to make our spirts lift about the clouds of doubt and discouragement. Thank you so very much for everything. It will not be ever forgotten. xo To my Amazing Out of Town Halves; What can I say about you without writing a novel? Robin Derring - Your life is an example to us all for which we should strive to live up to. You’re amazing: your words of wisdom and the heart of hearts have touched so many of us, and we are blessed to have you a part of our lives. Thank you for being my half this year and spreading the word everywhere that you went. Love you always. Tasha Stevens – you’re amazing. Thank you so much for giving me your last name, the phone calls, and the chats and laughter - it meant so much to me. Twinkle Montgomery - You are amazing, and I am not sure what I can say. Your presence, our chats, laughter and phone calls, all when I needed it so much. You seemed to know when I needed that call or nudge. All three of you are my sisters and friends for life and beyond. To all of my Ambassadors that have made this year so incredible - thank you so very much for your time and efforts. Much Love to Each of You. I know I have left so many things out, but when you get to my age (and some of you are - lol), sometimes you do forget things that you should remember. None of which is done on purpose but it does happen. Just know you are in my thoughts and in my heart and regardless of whether we see each other again, or not for a long time. The memories of our times together, I will cherish forever I would also like to thank Montana’s for allowing me to have time off to be able to do what we have done this year, and to Cindy Skerry for donating her time to sing the National Athems
out of the kindness of her heart. Cindy, THANK YOU !! Last, but not least, for you are my equal, My Emperor, Brian Brian. It was not easy at times; we did not always agree, and I know there were times that we could have strangled each other. But WE made it to the end successfully, and in one piece, and we worked together through it all regardless. I appreciate all that you have done, and for standing beside me, and hope that Some Day you do make it to Paris. In Closing, I just want to thank anyone that had any part whatsoever in preparation of our Events, and to everyone that has purchased tickets, traveled and advertised this Coronation. No year is perfect and each year has its trials and tests. You both stood to those challenges and faced them and came out on the other end. You both held yourself with dignity, grace, and an air of professionalism which is to be commended. I would also like to thank you for having me be a part of your year as ICP. Though at first, I was hesitant to accept the role, I knew you both could bring about positive change to the organization as well as the community, and you both had goals of doing what you could to make those changes a reality. In seeing that drive, was the reason I accepted the role and I am happy to say that I have. It has been a long year but you both can say with your heads held high, that you completed your year and no matter what the final number in your fundraising is, you succeeded and have left your mark in the history of this great chapter of the Imperial Court. I hope to see, after your year has completed, that you both continue to do the amazing work you do and support the next reign, and many more to come. Your Majesties, Honoured guests and courtiers, Once again, it gives me great pleasure to help to complete this year as Imperial Crown Prince XVI. It has been a year of ups and downs (aren’t they all?), yet we have stayed true to the spirit of the Court by raising money and supporting the community. Once again, our Monarchs, Empress XVII Dotti Rose, and Emperor XVII Brian Brine have led us through this year with determination and style. They have been Ambassadors for Halifax, both in and out of our city and done so with dignity. Along with my fellow ICPs - Blake Smith, Chinchilla Duvet and Miss Oso, we have tried to do something a little different this year and push a little at traditional boundaries, yet we always come back to what the Court is. Thank you to my Emperor, Brian, for having faith in me. I hope i was able to support you on your journey. Let’s finish this year and hand over to the next with a little fun and style. Seventeen years. How do you account for the time that goes by within a Society? Emperor 3 times. Prime Minster for 3 years. Heir apparent. In-Town Half. Father to the Reign. Oh, and cleaning up someone else mess. I never wanted to leave anything behind - no reputation, no memories and no legacy. I have faced the ugly side of our Gay Community, for doing what is ethically, morally and legally right. I’ve been called the lowest of the low, but still I took responsibility for my actions, and that makes a big difference. Tonight marks the end of my “active duty”. I am leaving with dignity, elegance and pride. I did everything I could to be right, held people up in front of a mirror and made them accountable for their actions and behaviour. Now I will do the same. I stand by everything I have done these past 3 years as Prime Minister, and paved the way for our Society to maintain the integrity we have held on too. I believe in ISCANS. Seventeen years of Crowns and Gowns, of Memories, Friend and Family. Of epic fails (my tantrum at the end of Reign 4 and the following dismissal). To come back and be part of successes (Reigning 3 times, re-focusing our spending and spending less, 3 years of Toy Drives, raising over $21,000.00 in toys and cash, and Prime Minster to 3 major successful Reigns - 14, 15 and 16). I leave changed, and proud of the people with whom I have stood. My advice: ISCANS - remain true to the ethical, moral and legal aspects of running a Society, and the success will come faster and easier. We handle people’s donated money and if we are not holding ourselves to the highest level of responsibility and custodianship, then the money won’t come and neither will the success.
