Armen Atamian Armen Atamian, C.E.O and Founder of the ATAMIAN Hair collection and Salon Fusion owner in Northville, Michigan. Born in Kuwait, lived and survived through the Gulf War with his family. His experience taught him a lot about survival and overcoming adversity. “Without fully understanding business at seven-year old, I made my first business transaction and that’s when I felt the best sense of personal gratification. That drive inside grew stronger and stronger through time, even after I moved to over 10countries. I knew I was destined to become an entrepreneur, and business turned into an outlet for me, I felt an inner sense of peace with everything I experienced in the past,” Armen Atamian, C.E.O and Founder of ATAMIAN Hair and Owner of Salon Fusion Atamian’s childhood shaped who he is today, from his first sale at seven-years old to setting-up shop inside his uncle’s garage in Cyprus. He laughed, “I was thriving inside my uncle’s garage selling treats just like the shops that surrounded my uncle’s home. However, due to numerous complaints, I had to pack it up.” He took that as a learning experience and as a challenge to overcome. Atamian shared, “I learned more about business in that short experience; such as, opening and closing business, building relationships and observing behavior. The short-term experience taught me to pursue business, no matter if the door is closed.” After a few years passed, Atamian and his family arrived into Detroit, Michigan where he attended Wayne State University and graduated with a degree in Finance. His overall experience was very positive but Atamian yearned to open shop in the hair industry. This worked perfectly because his sister Anita Atamian studied cosmetology, and perfected her craft working and training around the world with TONI & GUY as her mentor. Together the siblings agreed that opening a salon fit their talents, skills and fulfilled their inner passion: Anita Atamian’s artistry for hair, beauty and make-up and Armen Atamian’s drive for entrepreneurship and growth. In 2012, the siblings turned their passion and dreams into a reality. They found the location, located in Northville, Michigan and purchased an existing salon. However, it wasn’t up-to-par, so they made their first investment to renovate it. Anita and Armen Atamian agreed on the design to make it into an oasis like ambiance. After Atamian successfully built Salon Fusion’s clientele through the word-of-mouth, the rate of the salons’ first-year grew 40%. “I felt comfortable to explore my next business venture, take a risk and explore other options. So I devoted time to create a hair care collection. I recall sleepless nights of

staying-up till the salon opened; studying and researching the existing market of hair care,” Atamian explained. Everything came together after many months, simultaneously Atamian began the design and process to develop his hair care collection. Almost two-years later, the final product was ready to launch. It met Atamian’s standard after many tests. “My idea was simple, create a hair care collection that exceeded the existing market: from the design, scent and ingredients for results after the first use,” Atamian explained. Today the ATAMIAN Hair collection is perfectly packaged with a perfume scent while it restores, nourishes and repairs hair. “My dreams and goals are to never stop, regardless of the circumstance, I will prevail to build an empire. The past has taught me to stay humble as I continue to grow, and be appreciative of what I have in-front of me. Anita Atamian

Anita Atamian, an International Stylist, with close to 20 years of experience. She is internationally educated, recognized and trained by celebrity stylists. “As a child, I was always drawn to artistry and passionate about helping others, when I discovered a career path that allowed for both artistry and helping others, it made sense to pursue hair, makeup and beauty.” At an early stage of her career, she started as an assistant, then worked as a hair stylist in a local salon to master her craft. It didn’t take long before she learned the nuances of hair styling until she was able to work behind the chair on her own. She said, “I was always eager to learn and grow, when the opportunity to travel the world and learn the art of hair, makeup and beauty from a world renowned hair stylist, I didn’t hesitate for one moment. So I took it, and traveled the world to learn from the celebrity stylist Toni and Guy.” “My work with Toni and Guy was an amazing, humbling and significant experience to understand the art of hair, makeup and beauty; there is no end to how much an artist can learn. When Armen Atamian was young, he and his family, including sister Anita, moved around from the native home in Kuwait because of the fallout of The Gulf War. He estimated that they lived in nearly 10 countries in five to six years before moving to the United States in 1996. Today Armen and Anita are true American success stories as owners of Salon Fusion in Northville, a salon that opened in 2012 and has experienced an average of 40 to 50 percent growth each year. The Atamians took an existing salon and changed the brand, the level and quality of services and now have launched their own brand of hair care products. “Our biggest marketing effort honestly has been word-of-mouth,” said Atamian. “Once we get customers into the salon they come back and are willing to refer to their friends and family members.” Salon Fusion offers a full range of services, including hair extensions and spray tanning. Armen handles the business side, and has always wanted to focus the business on providing the highest quality and most natural products. Anita has nearly 20 years of experience as an international hair stylist. While the salon has been successful, Armen is particularly excited about the release of his collection of hair care products. The Atamian Hair Collection was first released this May and is something that Armen has worked on for nearly a year and a half. The line carries three categories of products:

shampoo, conditioner and restoration oil. Armen said that every product is individually formulated to nourish, restore, repair and rebuild hair to its healthy state of luster and shine. It is not possible to patent the mixture of products through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, but the name “Atamian Hair Collection” along with its logo is patent pending, Armen said. The four primary ingredients that are part of the products include Argan Seeds, Almond Oil, Biotin Oil and Grapefruit Extract. It is all-natural— with no parabens, sulfate or phosphorous— highlighting Armen’s goal of emphasizing the importance of all-natural products. The Atamian Hair collection is also unique in that it is made with a perfume scent. “We didn’t want to just carry an existing product that we didn’t feel would be the highest quality for our clients,” Armen said. “We began carrying Moroccan Oil as a great product that sells itself. But soon after I realized I wanted to create our own product line. The formulation took awhile, including the packaging, logo, color and more but I wanted something perfect because my name was on it.” The goal for Armen is to continue to add additional products as part of his collection each year to focus on hair spray, volumizing and more. For now the collection of products is being sold at the Northville salon, which employs five stylists and is open five days a week, including Tuesdays through Fridays until 7 p.m. “We have a number of working mothers as clients as we wanted to keep the salon open long enough so they can come back in after work and not feel too rushed,” Armen said. “But what we have also learned about the Northville and Novi communities is that our customers are very health conscious so that just makes our (message of all natural products) stronger.” For more information, call 248-924-2059.
