International Hair Styles, Hair Care and Trends There are so many ways to outwardly express yourself externally for male or female: fashion and hairstyles. The trends for hair are cyclical internationally, just like fashion, however each year is a more contemporary and modernized representation of a country’s cultural with a political or social movement. It’s evident that hairstyles change based on an emotional reaction, dated back to when different countries around the globe went through a political change or challenge. Today’s hairstyles are trending back to the 1950’s and 1960’s, as we’ve seen a resurgence of the pixie cut once worn by Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn to the short straight bob-like hairstyle. And, in recent months, the long (or short) and boldly dyed hair is prominent in North America. This is making statements of individuals and their personalities to match their careers as business men and women, artists, designers or individuals adjusting their trends against the rest. These styles are an attempt to stand out from the rest, create a trend or mimic another decade before the rests. However, what country amongst the continents are making the statements the quickest? It is known that men and women replicate a style from overseas and from another decade. Even a few incorporate their hairstyles to its iconic cultural using hairpieces, the hijab, Kimoto, Sari or what is representative of their country’s fashion. Based off research, the two countries that carry the most cultural influence is Japan and England. Depending on style and taste, the audience of trends and fashionforward countries are known for the eclectic and modern style (Japan) or classic and elegant style (England). This transpires to the age of modernization and reform for fashion trends, and hairstyles men and women replicate to their own style and personality. It’s significant to note that Japanese Harajuku (Ganguro) is responsible for the softer color dyed hair: purple, honey golden blonde, silver or a golden greyish. This trend is rapidly here in the states with many celebrities carrying the trend into pop cultural. Whereas, the English is notably modern and classic with Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge at the front and center for trends in fashion and hair. Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge is the epitome of a well-dressed, poised and formal woman; she’s increased her prominence around the globe with timeless fashion and hair for countries in the Middle East, Asia, the States, etc. to replicate.
