elen Dolas, Founder and CEO of Arts and Services for Disabled, Inc., was selected “Distinguished Arts Leader of the year 2013” by Arts Council Long Beach The Nathaniel Ayers Foundation partners with Arts & Services for Disabled, Inc. to celebrate Nathaniel’s birthday by hosting “JAM session with Nathaniel Ayers – The Soloist” Musicians from The Lamp House, a shelter for the homeless, volunteer musicians, and music therapists played for four hours straight with Nathaniel. Community, friends and family were there to enjoy the music. Nathaniel continues to be an inspiration of how important music is and it’s power to heal. Nathaniel is diagnosed with Schizophrenia, a mental illness. When he is in his music, the music provides a space in which he feels secure and grounded to be expressive in a positive manner and where communication musically is coherent and relationships with others are embraced. This event exhibits the importance of community services for mental health. On May 4, 2013, Arts & Services for Disabled, Inc. and Long Breach Community Hospital Foundation/Memorial Care, will be hosting a FREE community event “Stomp on the Roof Festival- Drumming Up Community Resources!” Drum circles, music, food and vendors will share and celebrate health and wellness for the whole community, raising awareness of support services in Long Beach. elen Dolas, Fundadora y CEO de las Artes y Servicios para Discapacitados, Inc., ha sido seleccionada “Líder Distinguida Artes del año 2013” por el Consejo de las Artes de Long Beach. Los Fundación Nathaniel Ayers se une con Artes y Servicios para Discapacitados, Inc. para celebrar el cumpleaños de Nathaniel organizando “jam session con Nathaniel Ayers - The Soloist” Los músicos de The Lamp House, un refugio para los músicos voluntarios sin hogar, y musicoterapeutas jugaron durante cuatro horas seguidas con Nathaniel. Comunitarios, amigos y familiares estaban allí para disfrutar de la música. Nathaniel sigue siendo una fuente de inspiración de cómo la música es importante y tiene el poder de curar. Nathaniel es diagnosticado con esquizofrenia, una enfermedad mental.
