10-14 February Free Queen Elizabeth Theatre The Oakham Student Arts Festival returns for its third season in 2014. With the responsibility of producing, directing, designing and performing all material, the students are handed the reins for one week only as they showcase the school’s talent in a variety of venues.

Rutland Open Studios Art in the Making Festival & Art Trail 31 May & 01 June 10am-5pm // Free The Old Pheasant Pub, Glaston The second Art in the Making Festival takes place in the grounds of The Old Pheasant pub at Glaston on Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June. Scores of artists have the chance to display their work to audiences, hold demonstrations to show off their art, and give visitors an opportunity to try their hand at painting, willow weaving and stone carving. The Festival marks the start of the annual Art Trail, held on all four weekends in June, when artists from Rutland and surrounding counties hold exhibitions of their work, at their own studios and other venues across the county.
