LORRAINE SADLER ENGLAND, UK SURREALIST Lorraine has always been a deeply philosophical being, who can ponder on almost anything in order to create. However her deepest inspiration comes from nature and its mysterious workings. An idea can be born from something as simple as a leaf, and then evolve into a metaphorical narrative on the meaning of life. T h e r e i s a l s o a n i n t a n g i b l e ‘s p i r i t ’ l e d a s p e c t to her painting - she can reach euphoric states o f m i n d v e r y e a s i l y, s i m p l y v i a e x e r c i s e a n d connecting to the beauty of the natural world, and this euphoria translates through her paintings. In her early ar t career, she focussed on realistic drawings, and she still gains immense satisfaction out of intricately rendering the details of her observations, but finds that painting is now far more about expressing her feelings and perspective on life.

L o r r a i n e i s a b o r n a r t i s t w h o’s ar tistic expression has found many forms, those being in the past as a professional dancer, and being an ar tist is to her, simply a way of being and also about having an insatiable desire to express thoughts and feelings that reside deep within.

She states that being an ar tist is a cathar tic process and perhaps also a way of reaching out to find your tribe - there are few things more hear t warming than having somebody profoundly resonate with something you have created.

With the possibilities we have today to study life from the tiniest par ticle to the l a r g e s t s c a l e , i t ’s a m a z i n g t o s e e h o w t h e same structures appear ever ywhere: a walnut looks like a human brain, some types of stone resemble aerial photos of Nordic fjords while when we see pictures of neurons we wonder about their delicate p l a n t - l i k e ‘ r o o t s’. From microscopic details to the largest scale in space, life seems to manifest itself ever ywhere in similar structures.

YELENA REVIS SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA ABSTRAC T, SURRE ALIST, EXPRESSIONIST Ye l e n a ’s a r t w o r k s a r e o f t e n b r i g h t a n d fun, featuring whimsical, naïve-looking people and animals - however don’t let the child-like subjects fool you - her ar tworks are beautifully executed and in person they look almost too per fect to have been created by hand. In each of her ar tworks there is some strange mystical meaning for the viewer to unravel. At ar t school and university she studied realistic ar t and painted stilll i f e’s , l a n d s c a p e s , p o r t r a i t s a n d t h e h u m a n figure. She then went on to create strange, bizarre, mystical images and to combine the incongruous and distor t the form, so therefore her ar t was transformed into surrealism.
