Description: Þórsmörk valley with its rugged nature cornered in by glaciers and their mighty glacial rivers, criss crossed by towering canyons and the steep foothills of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier is a sight not soon forgotten. To reach this secluded highland valley we will need a genuine Iceland Super-Jeep and an experienced guide at the helm. On the way to Þórsmörk we will visit the picturesque Seljalandsfoss and pass Gígjökull glacier lagoon. Continuing onwards to Básar cabin where we will begin our 7-8 hour hike up to the Fimmvörðuháls volcanoes. This is the site of the first of two volcanic eruptions in 2010. During the hike you will not only be able to touch the new lava, see the brand new craters, mountains but also enjoy vast sweeping views of one of the most beautiful highland nature in Iceland.

Description: The Snæfellsjökull glacier is one of the most picturesque mountains in Iceland, rising up 1450 meters from the middle of the Snæfellsnes peninsula this famous volcano is clearly visible more than 100 km away. The most famous literature about Snæfellsjökull is undoubtedly Jules Verne’s novel “Journey to the center of the Earth” where the entrance to the center was through a caldera at the top it. Everything about this trip is an amazing adventure; even the drive to the start of the hike offers breathtaking views only surpassed by the vistas from the slopes and the peak. On clear days the whole Westfjord peninsula is visible with its amazing mountains and beaches, a sight never forgotten. This is one of the very best glacier hikes in the world!

Description: Mt. Hekla is undeniably Iceland’s most famous mountain. It is the second most active volcano in Iceland and has erupted many times in historic times, including one in February 2000. For hundreds of years the mountain was believed to be the gateway to hell and no one dared climbing it. Until, Eggert Ólafsson, a famous Icelandic biologist, decided to throw caution to the wind and succeeded in summiting the mountain in the summer of 1750. Since then hiking to the top of Mt. Hekla has become a popular route. The view from the top of Mt. Hekla is wide and beautiful; you can see all of Fjallabak mountains, up to Vatnajökull glacier (Europe’s biggest glacier) not to mention all the evidence of recent and longstanding volcanic activity.
