ACKNOWLEDGEMENT We Thank you for supporting AIESEC in Kenya either in organizing or attending Afro XLDS 2015. Together, we made history, more than 20 countries were present at Afro XLDS and it was because each and every person at the conference made a conscious decision to be in Kenya between 29th and 5th of April 2015.

We are most grateful to our Partners, institutions, AfroXLDS Board of Advisers, AIESEC in Kenya members, AIESEC in Africa, AIESEC International and to each and every member of the AIESEC network as well as partners for your support.

Photo here The AIESEC AfroXLDS 2015 Conference saw the beginning of a new move within Africa. It brought together young leaders from all over the continent, united by one purpose- the growth and betterment of Africa, through nurturing the right crop of leaders. However, AfroXLDS was more than the one week that was the culmination of all our activities. It involved months of tireless effort, hard work, diligence and persistence, carried out by a team of 19 young leaders from AIESEC in Kenya and beyond. With a dream, “Unleashing Africa as the Future” and under the leadership of Simon Kioko, President of AIESEC in Kenya, we saw to it that not only did the conference take place, but also, each life that was a part of it was impacted. AfroXLDS 2015 was a very personal experience for me. It was, indeed, a practical learning experience, but even more than that, the team I worked with became as dear to me as a second family. Having a group of people that are not only with you every step of the way, but also understand exactly what you are facing, and share in your joy, success, disappointments and anxieties makes such an undertaking easier and more worthwhile. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the core Congress Committee, the Member Committee of AIESEC in Kenya, and the Teamsters, who came in to support and realize the Conference. Special thanks to our Board of Advisors, who saw us through right from the start up to the conference. None of this, however, would have been possible without our partners’ support. These companies and individuals who believed in us, in our dream, and invested valuable resources into its achievement. We are truly thankful for your support, and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship. To the AIESEC International team, thank you, for affording us the opportunity to host the conference, to put the name of AIESEC in Kenya in the corporate realm and to make a difference in the lives of the African youth leadership. Thank you for showing your support, and for being there for us at our points of need. Last, but not in any way least, to the delegates of AfroXLDS 2015: We are Africa, and we are the future. We have a journey ahead of us, and it has only just began. We are the Lions on the Move. We are 2015. Asante.

Greetings from Kenya!

It is has been 45 amazing years for AIESEC in Kenya; meaning, 45 years of activating a huge number of amazing alumni who have gone on to be movers and shakers in Kenya and more so, change agents; meaning, 45 years impacting the lives of young people in 12 different universities in Kenya; meaning, 45 years of creating corporate and non-corporate partnerships that have seen us through our activities; meaning 45 years of actively contributing to the global AIESEC network; meaning, 45 years closer to peace and fulfilment of humankinds’ potential. Looking back at those 45 years, I can see 12 Local committees, 9 Specialised units, 2 country expansions, 9 international conferences hosted, 5 UBS awards of excellence, but still, as an organisation we have not yet fully capitalised on our market, our brand strength, our alumni, our activities and events. What more then would we ask for during AIESEC 2015 year celebrations? Well, nothing but to get an opportunity to step outside of our comfort zone and challenge ourselves; challenge ourselves and the rest of the world ,that it is about time AFROXLDS came back to the entity where it has been only once before; back to the entity striving to continuously renew the utmost relevance that AIESEC has in its youth; back to the entity that 45 years ago no one would have expected to have been in AIESEC’s existence; back to the entity that has the highest potential for growth in all aspects. Who better to do it than an almost 45 year well performing African AIESEC entity ? An entity seeking to build itself to its highest potential while continuously contributing to the network as a whole. An entity with a strong and vibrant AIESEC history ready to take on the future and have greater impact. This is the time for Africa. This is the time for AIESEC in Kenya. This is the time for ‘AFROXLDS 2015 in Kenya!’ This was a dream that came to reality. We thank God for the opportunity and everyone who made this a success. We welcome everyone who played a part in this to engage with AIESEC in Kenya now and in future. Sincere regards, Simon Kioko. Member Committee President.

THE TEAM

After winning the bid to host AfroXLDS 2015, none of us could imagine just how much this opportunity would test us, grow us and above all mean to us. It was the advisory board , who diligently showed us the how, the partners and sponsors who shared and believed in the same dream, the national committees who relayed and urged their members to attend, the international team who showed the meaning of support in AIESEC, the diversified team of facilitators who bridged the gap between our region and the rest of the network, the congress committee who together with us pulled off the late nights , best of all, it was the delegates who would constantly smile laugh and share with others back home, who as of now are working toward a goal to unleash Africa.

It is all this and so much more that made us cry and laugh knowing we facilitated what we believe in and that we, together as a team learned and witnessed humankinds potential. This was our final conference as the team for 2014/2015 term. A heartfelt thank you for trusting us with your experience. We hope it made a difference to you, now it is your turn to replicate it to someone else. Yours , MC BOLT, Member committee team AIESEC in Kenya, 2014/2015 term.

The world is fast becoming smaller as technology advances. The need to understand other cultures beyond our borders is now a necessity. In this event we celebrated the diversity of our continent while embracing those from beyond Africa. Dance , traditional wear and delicacies were in abundance. It was that captivating that the event took an extra 2hrs . A shaping of perspective and openness to new cultures was the cumulative result.

It was unfortunate that while carrying the conference .the Garissa attack that claimed 147 lives ,majority students, occurred. Being a student run organisation, our delegates offered to showcase their support, offer their condolence and assure their loved ones that they were indeed safe.

FINANCIAL REPORT Financial activity of AfroXLDS 2015 started in January 2014 when the entity decided to bid for the conference. We came up with a base, best case and worst case working budgets plus a financial commitment from the entity. The main focus in our fundraising was to reduce costs for the delegates and the conference while maintaining very high standards. Every cost was weighed in consideration to the kind of experience we wanted to provide and also the amount of revenue we had received as at the time of catering for the cost.

$180 – Conference fee $20*- Insurance *Covered by AON

Accommodation therefore became the centre piece in controlling of our budget. There was a significantly big difference in terms of accommodation cost from the time of conceptualization of the conference to us signing for a venue. We settled for the Luke Hotel which balanced both the cost and quality that we needed. This however had a large financial burden to us.

AIESEC AfroXLDS 2015 has left AIESEC in Kenya in a healthy financial state with the capacity to continue operation as usual. The return on investment has been realized both financially and in terms of the LEADs that the conference has provided to us. With these we believe we will be in a capacity to unleash Africa (Kenyan) youth as the future.

Our level of expenditure has been steady throughout the organisation of AfroXLDS 2015. Our main expenditures were on accommodation, logistics and special events.

With the support of our partners, we were able to position AIESEC in Kenya as a destination and entity of choice. We have also attracted more financial partners through our delivery of the conference which was made possible by our current conference partners. In conclusion, the finance desk is happy to report that AfroXLDS 2015 financial goals have been achieved.
