Camp Redfeather (Half or Full Day) A unique and safe outdoor traditional day camp on 23 beautiful acres featuring age-appropriate and fun day-camp activities such as crafts, boating, songs, fishing, outdoor education, sports, archery and swim lessons! Summer Adventurers Summer Adventurers provides an indoor alternative to traditional day camps and features a different theme each week. Participants choose from a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, drama and theater, cooperative games, environmental studies, swim lessons and open swim, and weekly local and regional field trips. Teen Extreme Staff focus on teamwork and leadership skills through a variety of activities such as archery, swimming, sports and more. Weekly field trips include tubing, hiking as well as service learning projects in the community. CIT (Counselors in Training) Program Teens aspiring to be future camp staff have the opportunity to get advanced training. Each week, CIT work with counselors, meet with their administrative coordinator and receive supportive supervision and evaluation. Those interested must complete both a camper and CIT application. Potential CIT will then be contacted to attend an interview before being accepted into the program. Ages: Rising 8th-10th graders Times: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dates: Two four-week sessions First session begins June 28, second session begins July 26 Facility Members: $350 Community Members: $400 Hours logged in the CIT program may count toward CCPS requirements Junior Counselors (JC) Program Teens chosen to participate in the highly-competitive Junior Camper program will come on staff for the entire summer as volunteers with Camp Redfeather. JC will be paired up with a camp counselor for a 100% hands-on, camp-staff experience while developing character and values through service. Camp Chickahominy Each camper will learn team building and leadership skills through daily activities with their group and others. All campers will be served a nutritious afternoon snack. Chickahominy Family YMCA

Kinder Camp - Full or Half Day This full-day program offers swimming, making new friends, learning new outdoor games, singing camp songs, making fun crafts, special guest and family fun events. We’ll provide the picnic setting so don’t forget to bring your snack and lunch each day! Following afternoon rest time, the fun continues with outdoor play, water games and exploring nature. Ballerina Camp Children will be introduced to the wonderful world of dance as they tap and turn to their favorite fairy tales, participate in dance-related arts and crafts and hold a special performance on the last day. Ballet slippers, tap shoes and a snack for your dancer are required. Meet our Staff Camp Director Patrick Edmunds started off at Camp Thunderbird as a camper. A graduate of the University of Virginia, his goal is to provide the best summer camp experience for children in the Greater Richmond area. Day camp staff are dedicated to making your child’s summer safe, productive and fun! All employees are subject to random drug testing as well as background checks through VA State Police and Child Protective Services. In addition, camp staff complete an average of 45 hours of pre-camp training, including first aid, AED and CPR certifications. Patrick Edmunds

A Place for EveryBuddy Our EveryBuddy curriculum helps special needs children experience camp. Due to the low camper-to-staff ratio of 3:1, space is limited to only twelve campers per two-week session. EveryBuddy campers must use the YMCA Camp Thunderbird drop-off and pick-up option.
