A FLEXIBLE CURRICULUM TO FIT YOUR NEEDS Our Post-Baccalaureate Premedical program enables qualified college graduates to take core and elective science, social science, and math courses that satisfy admission requirements for allopathic and osteopathic medicine, dentistry, podiatry, veterinary medicine, physical therapy, physician assistant, and other professional programs. The program is flexible to support students who need prerequisites, as well as those who have completed most or all of those prerequisites but need additional preparation. TRADITIONAL CURRICULUM We offer all medical school prerequisite lab science courses in day, evening, and summer formats. We also offer biochemistry and a full range of mathematics and behavioral science courses to aid students in preparing for the MCAT.

ENHANCEMENT CURRICULUM We offer a wide variety of advanced-level electives in biology, and some complementary chemistry and physics courses as well, for students who have completed the core prerequisites but wish to improve their academic record and become a more competitive professional school applicant.


BLENDED CURRICULUM You may need both core and advanced courses, or slightly different prerequisite courses. Our advisors can help you develop an individual plan customized to your needs. It is possible to repeat prerequisite courses if needed, to take a combination of entry-level and advanced courses, and to direct course choices toward professional training in health careers such as physical therapy, dentistry, podiatry, pharmacy, and veterinary medicine.

Thanks in large part to Washington University, other regional universities, and key Fortune 500 corporations, St. Louis has emerged as a national hub for research and business development in the fields of biotechnology and plant science. The city also boasts an extensive health care network with five Level I trauma centers. Between Washington University’s Medical Campus and Danforth Campus lies Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country containing the Saint Louis Zoo, Saint Louis Art Museum, Missouri History Museum, and Saint Louis Science Center, as well as biking trails, boating areas, and golf courses. The Metro transit system offers transportation from Washington University to locations throughout St. Louis.

PLANNING FOR YOUR SUCCESS When applying to medical school, academics are just one of the components of applicant evaluation. The Post-Baccalaureate Premedical program offers resources to help you assess your preparedness and broaden your experiences outside the classroom. You may explore shadowing opportunities, community service, and research work. The application process to medical school or professional schools is extremely competitive. Our program can help you apply strategically through individualized advising for the application cycle, feedback on personal statements, mock interviews, and support throughout the year as admission decisions are made. Upon successful completion of the program, you will also receive a letter of support from Washington University for your professional school application.

PROGRAM FEATURES A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY OF PEERS Post-Baccalaureate Premedical students are part of a community of peers who share goals and have experienced similar, nonlinear paths to medicine. There are many academic, social, and professional development events for Post-Baccalaureate Premedical students. Those who have completed core courses regularly tutor other program students in subsequent semesters. Each spring, University College hosts a panel discussion with recent Post-Bacc Pre-med alumni admitted to medical and other professional schools. Alumni share what they learned during the application and interview process.

FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS University College offers a number of scholarships, both need- and merit-based. For example, the Sweatt Scholarship is specifically intended to foster a diverse educational atmosphere in the Post-Baccaulaurete Premedical program. We also provide competitive tuition costs for quality preparation at a highly ranked university. You may choose day or evening courses with tuition prices starting at less than $900 per credit hour for evening courses. The cost of living in St. Louis is quite affordable, with many housing options close to campus.

LINKAGE PROGRAMS Our Post-Baccalaureate Premedical program currently offers two linkage programs. These special relationships between our post-baccalaureate premedical program and medical schools allow well qualified students to apply through a streamlined process which eliminates the gap year.

ADMISSION CRITERIA Applicants must have a demonstrated record of intellectual ability, academic achievement, a high level of motivation, and a commitment to rigorous study in pursuit of a career in medicine or a related health profession. In addition, the following requirements must also be met: • A bachelor’s degree completed prior to enrollment • One college-level English composition course with a grade of B or higher* • One college-level mathematics course with a grade of B or higher* • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status** Note: Strong candidates for admission typically have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above.

** AP credit that is reflected on a college transcript may be used to satisfy these prerequisites. ** University College cannot sponsor an I-20 for any certificate program. International students are eligible to apply for a certificate program if they already hold a visa that permits part-time study. International students holding a B-2 or F-2 visa are only permitted to register for courses that are recreational or avocational.
